We’ve stayed here numerous times and love the park. It’s rustic, but that’s fine. Water/Electric/Sewer are good. Sites are well packed gravel. What hurts this FAMCAMP is lack of anything like competent management. There’s always some kind of issue with reservations and managing them. The site next to us has 50 & 15 Amp receptacles only. Twice this week they tried to put small/30 Amp trailers into the site. There have been several other site mixups this week. Cheryl witnessed an individual pull up to the parks one dumpster and proceed to unload a full load of household trash old furniture, etc. One of the campground employees watched this happen and did not say a word. There are also several examples of people tying out their dog(s) unsupervised and just letting them bark. One family whose campsite looks like a homeless squat pulled the utility trailer they’re living in out for the day for some reason and left their dog by itself tied to a picnic table. And, while they claim they’ve stopped the homesteading, there’s ample evidence that they have not. We love Cheyenne and come here because of it, but the lack of any competent management really, really hurts this campground. Oh, and on top of it all they’ve raised the price for pull-throughs to $30 per night. We’ll probably come back, but we reevaluate every visit.

Pretty little camp set among lots of trees, with a big green belt in between the two sections of the park. The downside to the greenbelt is there are lots of bugs and they will get into your rig. Mostly quiet - there were some helicopters buzzing overhead late at night a few nights, but I think it was just some temporary exercises. Wifi was ok most of the time. Verizon signal strong. A few o/a tv stations available, but no cable. The trees precluded my satellite radio from working, and I suspect in most of the sites, except the pull throughs, tv satellites will also not work. The camp looks as though it had a small initial section (sites 1-14), with the rest added on later. Those initial sites are really nice and roomy. The rest of the sites though, are very crowded together. The pull-throughs are all buddy sites, with not much space between buddys. Sites 26-32 are back ins, and they were designed by an idiot. Not only is there very little space between sites, but they are slanted so that your neighbor's sewer connection is right at your front door, and your sewer connection at your other neighbor's front door. Very awkward and unappealing. This is the main reason I rated this campground down - had I been in one of the nice spots, I probably would have rated it higher. The two employees I encountered were extremely friendly, and comically incompetent. Commissary is poorly stocked, but there is plenty of decent shopping in town. DO NOT follow GPS to the campground! There are three ways in, and two of them will send you under a low clearance bridge. As of August 2021, the only approved gate is Gate 5, off exit 12 of the freeway. From Gate 5, drive straight onto the main road (Central, turns into Missile) and go 2.6 miles. You will come to a gravel road with a sign saying "Famcamp Picnic Area. Turn in there and it will take you to the camp. Drive all the way past the campsites until you have to turn left, turn left and drive forward to the office. Poorly signed, pay attention.

A rating for a stay that was cancelled, and an update on directions to the FAMCAMP. Due to a freezing weather event Labor Day week, the base shut off all water and sewer at the FAMCAMP. On F.E. Warren, once they shut water down they leave it off until the next spring. When we called the week before our planned arrival the staff was very informative about the conditions and when we said we wanted to cancel our stay they refunded our pre-payment efficiently. We stayed at a commercial RV Park in the area and drove around the FAMCAMP to see how things looked. They have a couple of new people on staff and it appears they're taking good care of the facility. The staff passed along new directions to get to the FAMCAMP. The base has rearranged the gates. The old front gate on Randall Ave. is closed off. The new front gate is on Missile Dr. Use exit 10D off I-25 and follow signs for Missile Drive West and or the base. There's construction at the offramp so signs are changing a bit. For those who know the area, this is the Missile Drive gate that had been closed off for several years. From the south, take a left at the end of the offramp and then merge right to stay on Missile Dr. to the base gate. From the north, they're building a dedicated ramp into Missile Dr. to the gate. After entering the base, stay on Missile Dr. past the BX/Commissary complex, past South Creek Dr. and then the FAMCAMP road will be on your right. There are a few serious potholes in FAMCAMP Road near the bridge over Crow Creek. Hopefully the base roads crews will take care of them this fall or next spring. The FAMCAMP staff said the gate changes were made to help alleviate traffic backup problems that had been growing over the years.

This is a small base with a lot of history and character. From the red brick buildings and stables from the Calvary days to the antelope, ground squirrel, birds and cottonwoods ... it really has character. Unfortunately, the Fam Camp itself looks like it is need of some serious TLC. There is no camp host, the office personnel was on loan from Laramie and we never saw any kind of grounds keeper/maintenance while there (nor had others we spoke to....) The grass is very over grown and ground squirrels have taken over. There are 2 washer/dryer combos in the office, and at $1.75/$1.50 a load respectively, I thought that was a tad pricey for a Fam Camp. Plenty of green spaces, including dry camping in fields which looked great. The sites themselves were gravel. The base boasts two lakes and a stream. The commissary was in the process of a face lift while we were there. This place has tons of potential and I hope they clean it up. Over all we liked the base & the area and would probably still return.

We spent one week moving between Denver and Casper WY. Gate 1 will allow a larger RV through (I have a 39ft 5th Wheel and had no problem with the barriers. Be aware that some sites have the Power/Water/Sewer connections on the wrong side, unless you are a class A/C that pulls in nose first. You will hear a train (no whistles) from time to time and the antelope are everywhere. The post is not maintaining historical markers, but there enough to get the feel of the old Calvary fort. The BX gas station has Diesel pumps available. This is a great place to stay and explore the city. Yes, they doubled the rate for Frontier Days (unless you had prepaid before they announced the increase.) 2019 expect the increased rate when you make your reservation. We'd stop here again. The 3 for facilities is because we didn't use them, so a neutral number.

Overall a really nice CG with mostly shaded sites, lots of grass. All sites are gravel and level, most are well spaced with good FHU connections. As previously noted some site hook-up are on the passenger side, so need long hoses and elec. cords. Plenty of dry camping overflow space ($10)- so if you need a safe stop don’t worry about availability. Caution - Larger rigs will have difficulty entering base thru Gate 1 (Randal Ave) – the chicane barrier is very tight even for our 25’ TT. Follow the MWR website instructions and you will not go wrong finding the camp once on base. “I” who works the office is very accommodating and very nice. Originally our rig was too long for the reserved site, however, she made accommodations to move us to a more suitable site and worked with us to extend our stay. The AFB is super interesting historically with many original brick buildings, barracks, stables still standing and repurposed for modern use. Easy exploring the city through Randal main gate. Fitness center is excellent, Commissary/BX – ok for basic needs. Class VI is at the gas station/shoppette, with limited selection. You will find better prices in town. No library on base (can you believe that?) but the county library in town is outstanding and only 15 minutes from the main gate with very well equipped with a nice computer center/internet if you have admin needs. Mosquitoes are pretty aggressive here as there is a swampy creek passing by. Lots of places to walk or ride bikes, with two nice rec lakes to the north on base. Everything was working in the bathhouse, and they were very clean. WIFI was fairly good, not the fastest, but good enough for most things. Pretty good value for the price, will stay again.

The location is great if you are traveling across country on I-80 to stop overnight the value can't be beat! The rest is minimum in rating! It is very hard to get an answer from the desk if you are going to get a hook up space or need to go to overflow. The wi-fi does not go to all locations in the Fam Camp, but you can get cell phone hot spot wi-fi in overflow parking, because there are not trees. Down side of the overflow location is lots of bugs! It did not appeared that there was any kind of bug spraying that took place. The easy directional signs that were place to help find the Fam Camp in 2015 were not there in 2016, and the gate guards gave the wrong directions.

We stayed for 2 weeks in the summer of 2015. Everyday we got up excited to be in Cheyenne in general and at F.E.Warren in particular. There were a few minor things that could have been better, but having said that we most definitely look forward to being here again. Most of the complaints I heard were because folks did not follow the directions that were given - DO NOT TRY TO COME UNDER THE RAILROAD BRIDGE!!! Two folks did and two folks were very unhappy with the results; it is not high enough to accommodate 5th wheels or motor homes - it is 11 foot 6 inches, and the air conditioners on the roofs will not survive. The only thing that encouraged us to leave is the changing leaves and the snow that will soon follow. This camp may not have all the up-to date amenities, but is has 50 amp service - water - and septic at the sites. And incredible beauty and history everywhere. Thanks F.E.Warren for the beautiful memories that my wife and I have told and re-told to all our friends and family.

Crow Creek is our second favorite FAMCAMP (right behind the AF Academy). If you want resort amenities this is not the place for you. If you want a nice, quiet place to relax and visit the area Crow Creek is wonderful. There are train tracks nearby, but the trains are few and never loud. Water and sewer were still on while we were there, but it's always best to call ahead and check after mid-September even if you don't need a reservation. As always, the bathrooms are well kept, so electric only camping here would not be a problem. The primary campground entrance off Missile Drive is back in use after the bridge washouts of the last few years. The rebuilt bridge over Crow Creek looks much sturdier than earlier versions. The homesteaders, like the people with the outside refrigerator (were there for years - see earlier reviews by several folks) have been moved out. They're trying to accommodate longer term stays needed for valid reasons while getting back to being a limited stay rec facility. We applaud the effort but believe it's produced mixed results so far. We love this FAMCAMP, the base and Cheyenne. We'll return as often as we can.

We stayed there May 2014 and I asked the mgr. why the grass was not mowed and she replied that the contract for mowing the grass stated it could not be mowed until it reached 18" tall. I told her how unacceptable that was and she said that is the way MWR wrote the contract because it is a secondary land use area. Housing just over the railroad tracks was mowed on a regular basis. Other wise it was a pleasant place to stay.

This is a nice FamCamp and we would stay here again if we were in the Cheyenne area. The pros: level gravel sites, excellent hookups, satellite accessible (if you specify such a site when you make your reservation), and Donna (manager) is very helpful and accessible. She organized a FamCamp potluck, while we were there, and the office provided the main course. There is WiFi in the office which is accessible in your RV if you have a signal booster. The cons: the grass areas between the RV sites are mowed infrequently and they harbored thistles, and the gravel access roads and gravel sites make for a bit of a mess when it rains or when it is dry and dusty. There is a nice (medium sized) commissary and exchange on the base. Diesel is available on base at the Shoppette. There are nice fitness facilities (2) and a small library on base. The library has a nice selection of movies (DVDs) which you can borrow for free.

Talked to Reservations today (5-17-13). She said gate 2 on Missile Drive is now closed and need to use main gate or gate 5. She also said main gate has been renovated and now RV's can enter without physical issues. I will add comments when I arrive there in June. Note: I filled in ratings because that was the only way this could get posted although I was not there yet and ratings mean nothing now.

L.B. left this review using the Directory software: - When I made my reservation I requested a pull through site and was told I would get one. I tow my Goldwing trike on a trailer behind the motor home. Arrived on a Saturday afternoon. Nobody there and no camp host. Just a sign on the office door telling you which site. I would have missed it if there weren't other campers in the building using the wifi. The site was not a pull through and it was so small that in order to park I would have to disconnect my trailer and store it in the overflow area. Needless to say, I just parked in the overflow area and left my trailer connected. All of this info should have been made known to me when I made the reservation. Being in the overflow area without electric or water was OK and If I had known in advance I could have saved $10. The campground is nice and quiet and it is a beautiful base.

This is the 3rd time we have stayed here. We like it because of the size and location (We really enjoy Cheyenne). The antelope, deer, birds along with the lakes (for both dogs and hubby alike) are a big plus for us, too. Unfortunately, every time we are here there is an issue. The last two times there was no one working in the office (site mix ups) and no lawn maintenance to speak of. This time half of the washers and dryers were out of commission, water & dump were still turned off (we get it; it's off season) and multiple site mix ups (again). This place really has great potential but the maintenance & office staff is lacking...mainly because it is being mismanaged. We really hope Warren gets their act together for the fam camp as we really do enjoy it; even with all the issues.

Getting to the campground at night was a nightmare. The Famcamp sign posted on the main road said Entrance but no arrow to indicate you hadn't entered the area already but rather had to take a right. Since we'd been told to look for a dirt road & the road to the right did not appear to be dirt we passed it by & when we realized our mistake stopped someone to ask for directions & he directed us to an entrance under a 11' clearance railroad trestle that was not marked at the road, just at the trestle so backing up & turning around was another nightmare. This campground would be best served to add some decent signage. However, the main reason we're rating it so low is that the sites & roads around the campground are overgrown so as to scrape sides & roofs of RVs. In addition, sites were not marked and there appeared to be no camp host to assist.

We have been here three times over the last 10 years. WiFi has been a major improvement. Washer Dryer facility very limited for the number of potential users. Great location for local attractions, biking, jogging, etc. I suggest checking out the local laundry in town. Same price, excellent accessibility, about 4-5 miles from famcamp. My only confusion is why the AF is allowing so many of the recreation famcamps to be used as semi permanent housing for active duty and/or contractors. I can understand tdy or new arrivals or those departing housing prior to leaving, but there are more than not that are just turning the famcamp into a trailer park. I'm just not sure that this is in the spirit or intent of famcamps. While here I observed many large RVs moving from site to site so as to extend their stay. If the park was fully available and enforced the 30 day limit there would likely not be any problem except for during Frontier Days. Based on what I see across the AF Bases, Active Duty have realized that this is a great way to stay on base and save a ton of money provided for housing allowance.

Okay, so. There's lots of painful truths to learn about FEW Famcamp before you get here, not least of which this year is the daily dark clouds and electrical/rain storms each and every day since at least early June. The FSS CC can't possibly value retirees or the Famcamp--and apparently is okay with slum-like conditions here. Several people I've talked to here have registered complaints in writing and in person. First, there are 2 washers @ $1.75 a load and 3 dryers for $1.25. In a camp this big, that's absurd. I've never paid that much for washers, either, and I've been FT RVing for 3 years. Secondly, as someone said previously, the trees (probably in part because of all the rain) are thick and heavy with branches, which stretch out over all the sites. With 50 knot wind gusts a common occurrence, there's going to be trouble. The only question is when. To say it's harrowing during the storms is an understatement. I was placed into a site that is so short that the back window of my towable is literally against the trees at back. Someone also mentioned the roads. Beware: they are gravel or dirt only, slope downward into the camp, and are gravel-slippery, and/or muddy/washed out after rain. They're also ONE LANE wide. Go very, very, very slowly. The two entrances off of Randall Avenue take you on a single-lane road under low-height railroad bridges. If you follow the directions I was given by the Famcamp manager, you'll be in big trouble. The Missile Gate path in is also closed because the bridge over Crow Creek was washed away (I have no idea how long ago). The only way to safely bring an RV in is to come through the front gate (Exit 11 off of I25) on Randall Ave. After you're in (and the serpentine through the front gate is only wide enough for one vehicle to maneuver safely without dings and scrapes, so let others pass before you attempt it--with or without your RV). Once you're on base, turn left at the light where you'll see a sign pointing to the BX/Commissary. At the end of that road, turn right heading toward the BX/Comm, go past them, after the stop sign stay straight and you'll see the orange detour sign on the right taking you to the Famcamp in a way that will avoid any RR bridges BUT....first up a steep dirt one-lane hill, and down it into a narrow entry into the park where for some insane reason there's a cone in the middle of the road. With regard to the condition of F.E. Warren Famcamp: it looks as though this place is being used as low income housing with no oversight whatsoever. Example 1: there is a veteran living full time in the only cabin one could rent here in the park. He's so settled in that he's got his tiki lamps, barbecue, and other things all set up, including stowing his gear on the front porch. He's got his own private little driveway too. Without any rules, who wouldn't move in? Don't even think you're going to reserve it...and don't listen if someone tries to tell you it's nice after it's been used that way. Example 2: There are ~10 homesteaders here, with a purported 80 people on the waiting list with the rodeo a week away. How do we know they're homesteading? Things stowed beneath the RV with grass and weeds growing over them, one site with a refrigerator boldly covered by its own hand-made shed, etc. It's clear they're favored by the camp manager and have been given the best spots, too. Example 3: Folks here realize that nobody's looking so they completely ignore the rules applied elsewhere regarding maintenance of vehicles. I've seen people unabashedly sudsing up their RV, rinsing and waxing...in full view of all. One RV is a monstrous mess with the owner rebuilding it right here in the midst of us all. Trash, supplies, and belongings in and around it make this a very unpleasant experience for others. Be prepared to have your vehicle randomly inspected on a regular basis as you come and go off base. I've been here one month and have been inspected 3 times, twice in one day. It's aggravating as hell and utterly pointless when the teenage Security Forces airman pretends to do it. So what's good about F.E. Warren Famcamp? Antelope with their twin and triplet fawns; the CFD rodeo with great country artists, the wide-open prairie, proximity to shopping in Ft. Collins 35 minutes south, the museums, the historic tours and Governor's Mansion (which will be closing for a year soon for renovation). The base museum and director are also a delight. Folks on base are mostly friendly. When the sun shines, it's beautiful to see. The wind makes kite flying....errr...a breeze, and I have a great kite. Don't expect to rent a horse at a stables here, though, there are none to be had. If you're a Longmire fan (Walt Longmire, intrepid sheriff of fictional Ansaroka County, WY, (see A&E and Netflix, you'll love it), there's "Longmire Days" up in Buffalo, WY, too. And of course, there's all the other American history sites.

I'm writing this review while at the FE Warren Famcamp for an overnight stay after a long day's drive and a frustrating experience about my reservation. I made a reservation one week ago for a 50 amp FHU pull through. When I asked if they could send a confirmation email I was told they did not have email and didn't give confirmation numbers. To be safe, I called yesterday to confirm my reservation. I reached the manager, Richard. He told me I did not have a reservation for a pull through but it was in fact for site #2, a back in FHU. I told him mistakes happen and it wasn't a problem. When I was 100 miles from them, I received a call from a young lady that said Richard asked her to call and tell me that there was a mix up, and she was told to accommodate me in over-flow, which is dry camping. How do they screw up a single reservation twice? Yesterday I was polite and understanding when I was told the pull-through reservation had gotten screwed up but today I popped a cork and showed my displeasure verbally. Their ineptness prevented me from making other arrangements at another campground. I told them to straighten out their mistake or have the Air Police waiting when I got there. That's the negative part of the story. The positive is that the manager (Richard) came in and found a place for me that is not normally used as a campsite. It's not great but I'm happy to have a place for the night. And he made the site gratis. From reading other reviews this is not an uncommon occurrence here. To be fair, Richard has only been the manager since May. Some other observations. The campground appears run down like a lower priced Passport America park. OK for an overnight but nothing you'd write home about. The base looks nice and there are what appears to be small antelope all over the place. The gate guard was very professional and helpful. The manager said he can't get simple maintenance items done because MWR will not fund them. He said to send an email he has to go to another part of the base. It appears that MWR and the base commander has placed a very low priority on the Famcamp. Hopefully that will change. The review just prior to this one must have stayed at a different campground. Read back a bit to get an accurate feel for this place.

Nice small famcamp. Nice place for a short stay. We stayed 2 weeks and most probably will only stay a week next year. Quiet and a lot of trees and open areas. Everyone on base was very friendly.

Made our reservation on the Saturday before Labor Day and when we arrived our name and site number were posted on the office door. Nice facilities but two things prevented a 5 - very poorly maintained road into the park and the apparent long termer's sites. Broken chairs and a full sized refrigerator do not come close to meeting 'military' standards. Staff was great and this place is so close to downtown Cheyenne and all that city has to offer.
