Memorial Day weekend almost empty. All vehicle occupants checked for authorized ID. Loop F, with FHU, less than half full, and only two tents in the tent area. Might be impacted by light rain throughout the weekend, but nice temperature and breeze otherwise. Did note that the tent camping sites have fire rings, but the RV sites do not. RV sites allowed to have fire 'stoves' as long as they sit on legs above the ground. Each FHU RV site has a grill. Lot of chlorine in the water, even with standard filter. Washers/Dryers also paid via credit card through mobile app (Clothesline Mobile). WiFi connectivity (Mbps): Navy WiFi down 30/up 1.0; TMobile down 103/up 105; Starlink down 95/up 22. Patuxent NAS within 10 minutes with full services (commissary, exchange, fuel). No amenities at recreation center, though.
Rather than the taking and parking our RV, visited the site's cottages. There are two different categories for the cottages: Contemporary and Historic. Both have options for 3, 4 or 5 bedrooms. The historic ones are directly on the water and are reserved way in advance. The contemporary ones are back away, closer to the RV area. Housekeeping may be behind schedule, so a proposed 3pm check-in might be delayed until after 4pm, so plan accordingly. Adequate 5G reception with T-Mobile, but also the facility also has wifi available. To fish or catch crabs, one needs both the Naval Recreation Center fishing permit in addition to a Maryland state fishing license. At the Recreation Center, there are designated two designated fishing/crabbing areas.
