Great campground, within an hour to major attractions. The famcamp is well kept and sites are easy in and out, even for larger RVs. Alot of the information in the reviews is inaccurate. There is direct access to the main gate from the interstate. Our 41' bus plus tow vehicle easily when through the gates with the barriers out, though SFS will pull them to the side if you ask and/or aren't comfortable navigating through them. The BX, commissary, and shoppette are walking distance from the famcamp. Showers and laundry room were clean and functional (don't complain, they are free). The only drawback to the base was the dining facility. Food was soggy, cold, and VERY subpar. The attitude and professionalism from the female A1C was laughable, she should be separated from service. As one example, we ordered via the fill out card/menu, waited 45 minutes only to be told our selection wasn't available, even though it was on the electronic menu and the order sheet. I asked her why she couldn't have told us that 45 minutes ago so we could have ordered something else and she said "don't be rude, you haven't been here that long because I was watching you..." When we did get some other food it was cold and soggy, I am embarrassed for this facility and its sad this is what our military has to accept. I did speak to a SSgt who took my name and phone number because I wanted to speak to someone in charge but...as expected...no call, no nothing. This new military just isn't for me, I guess. On a side note, the air and space museum right outside the main gate is worth seeing and it's no cost, but we did leave a donation.
