It has been a couple of years since I last stayed at Lake Elmer Thomas Recreation Area. I was disappointed to see condition the park was in. I was there on Monday thru Thursday. The office and all facilities are closed on Monday and Tuesday. $50.00 a night is a little pricey because no recreational activities being open and no wi-fi. I could not get a TV signal on antenna, and my Verizon cell phone service was weak. When I made my reservations, the clerk told me that they had received funding for improvements and spaces would have limited availability all summer. Work had not started yet, but the “permanent party” had been moved from the back row onto spaced normally used by recreational customers. I counted at least a dozen “permanent party” occupying RV spaces. They had multiple vehicles, freezers outside the RV, large BBQ grills, potted plants and fenced in yards. Maybe after the renovation is completed, Lake Elmer Thomas Recreation Area will be a good place to go. Like it was when it first opened.
