HIDDEN GEM of the Army!!! I wish I knew about this place years ago as I used to travel through Texarkana regularly. There are several sites available, some pull thru's, some back-ups. Most, if not all, of the pull-thru's are shaded Lots of room between spots. A few spots back right up to the lake. They're level port to starboard. The lake and trees keep the area cool. The staff is very friendly and attentive. There are boats to rent, a clean sandy beach (new sand this year!), a small general store, a well-maintained disc golf course and playground, and small work-out area on a trail. Cabins are also available. There are also two conference center areas, one which has a full industrial kitchen for large gatherings (I supposed) and a deck that overlooks part of the lake inlet. The days we were there was maybe one boater fishing on the lake; otherwise, it was peace and quiet! The only downsides I found were: 1) No internet (a necessary these days); and 2) Electric/water is located between the pull-thru's, meaning someone will be running a hose underneath the RV. If you have access to the post, you're going to love it there!
