To start, the park is well maintained and facilities are top-notch. The sites are fairly level with minimal leveling to get the front of the RV elevated. Directions to the park are well written. However, with a big rig (we have a 40-foot motorhome with toad) many tight 90 degree turns are required to get onto Ellerthorpe, Gerlich, and into the park. Once in the park the check-in parking is a bit short for big rigs; we had to use two spots to not block the road. Getting around inside the park with a big rig is a bit challenging and trees at each site will slightly rub the rig entering and/or exiting. The park appears to have been built with RVs from the 60's and 70's in mind. Today's larger rigs will fit but requires good maneuvering by the driver and spotter. If we had a smaller rig I'd stay again, but with a big rig I'll probably find another overnight location if I'm in the El Paso area again.

With the first come, first serve for 133 spaces, still called early in the day to check. Upon arrival after 8pm, sign on MWR door said to pick an empty spot on the map below the notice and register the next morning after 8am. Concrete "runners" for each pull through site, with the septic, water and electric exceptionally convenient. Some street noise as the campground is not on base, but within a residential neighborhood right off of Interstate 10. There are approved one-year long stays for soldiers assigned to the Sergeants Major Academy at Biggs Field, Ft Bliss, TX. The nominal occupancy for these SNCOs is roughly between 30 to 50 a year, so most of the other spaces are for shorter stays. All the facilities (laundry, bathrooms/showers, family room, gym/exercise room, etc.) are behind a combination lock. There are at least two laundry areas, both with regular and high-capacity dryers. Cost was $1.50 for wash or dry. The door codes for all facilities can be gotten from either the MWR office or camp host. Payment is available with either credit cards or Military Star card. MWR office at the campground accepts packages delivered by USPS and other delivery agents. Small exchange annex/shopette and PX gas station outside of the RV campground compound.
