At least five people working front desk, but lake events all closed( no swimming, boating etc) not sure why they have so many employees. Although part of Ft Jackson No gate to enter, front gate to Ft Jackson about 12 miles, commissary & PX, class VI on base. Nice concrete pads, spacious sites and quiet. Wish lake area was open. Will definitely stop in again
Hard to find, not all gates will allow access, have to use gate 4 commercial vehicle gate. Wooded sites, not all on concrete pads and not level. Roadways entering are terrible, also watch out for low hanging trees. Host was nice, helpful in finding site. Amenities are great, commissary, BX, class VI and gas station but all close early. I-75 a mess with construction
Lots of homesteaders, reservation for holiday weekend, office closed, no maps or other info provided, took me three times driving thru campground to find site. Detour on March ave, detour took me thru base around golf course and lost antenna on low hanging trees (be very careful). Grass not cut on sites (4th July weekend) unacceptable. No camp host, NO WIFI although there are antennas up. Not a well kept Famcamp, base commander needs to address this with MWR. Thought...
When I made reservation was told site 35, when I arrived vehicle parked in spot, called office and they said I should have been in site 49, don’t know about their reservation system. A little confusing finding campground. New sites added, saw at least dozen sites open, was told they will be adding grills and tables soon. Small PX, nice military museum. Great area, very large concrete pads. No propane on post, wifi not good at all. Camp host “Kelly” very helpful & friendly, highly recommend this RV park
Stayed three nights, Off the beaten path. Nice secluded and wooded sites. Lots of Homesteaders and active duty or reserve duty personnel. Needs a good cleaning, hosts seemed like they've been there awhile also. No bathrooms or showers, nothing to do on base.
Second time we've stayed here, Hill AFB is very convenient, has lots of amenities on the base and off. Priced Very reasonably, Amy was very helpful while making reservation. Visited Golden Spike national park and Bonneville Salt flats. Would definitely stay here again.
Nice Famcamp, only 25 sites, not all paved. Lots of trees, two of my neighbors had severe damage due to falling limbs and large branches. Famcamp is not gated and is open to public who use the paintball field near the back of sites. Felt secure, as Langley AFB police Force patrol the area periodically. Stayed four days, first two place was pretty empty, till Friday when all spots were filled. Long Narrow roads to get to. Nice concrete pads, full hookup, no amenities open except boat ramps. Very nice an quite.
Campground is easy to find, great amenities on base, must wear face mask at all locations during covid epidemic. No wifi or tv reception. Grass was being cut during our stay, but cutters missed all around spot 2.
Very nice location, concrete pads with full hookups, some sites are confusing with hook ups on different sites of site. Close to beach and local restaurants. They need to move the check in location, when you pull up to check in there is no place to turn around. Had to back up over 50 yards to get out. Took the Southport ferry over (35 minutes) with my 36 Ft fifth wheel toy hauler with no problem. Would definitely stay...
Not what I expected, expected more from an Air Force facility. Stayed only four days, about thirty miles from downtown Charleston. Gate is manned by young inexperienced young ladies every time I came in. Checking in was pretty smooth, except for determining which spot you want, hard to tell without driving all over. Very clean, spacious sites. Free washer & dryers. Whole lot of active military on sites, still had fifteen open sites. Would definitely recommend staying here, one of the best RV campgrounds we’ve stayed at.
Base access is easy with options to three gates during normal working hours. Washer & dryers are free, grass areas need attention. I was on spot seven, with a WiFi pole right next to the site and WiFi didn’t work, kept interrupting and you’d have to log back in. Some sites have long term residence which looks unsightly. Camp host (frank) was very helpful when setting up.
Stayed here last year, cable is still unreliable and WiFi is now non existent, not just rv Park but entire base. Camp host was very knowledgeable while checking in on weekend. Base has everything from commissary, exchange etc and Walmart is just outside Slocum gate.
Nicely renovated campground. Sites are long but narrow. No trees, no WiFi if your parked away from bldg which has a tv, washer and dryers, no cable. Expensive for having no amenities.
