Million dollar view of the lake but this place is run down and in need of some repair. Large rv sites are small and water pressure is terrible, pulled into our site and found dog crap on the site and fire ring full of garbage. The new cabins look great but all the admin buildings and Pavillion are in terrible condition. I wish Leonardwood MWR would put some time and money into this place.

We stayed here for 2 nights and pretty much had the place to ourselves. We stayed in the nice pull through 50 amp sites, yes they are narrow, however they are concrete, level, and and all of the hookups are placed where they should be. The area is remote, but we liked that. The lake is beautiful, as is the surrounding area. We will come back some day and stay longer. Verizon cell service worked well and there are several OTA tv channels to choose from.

Nice place for a short stay. The paved spots weren't available so we had a gravel pad that was level and clean/ The electrical box had me a little uncomfortable because it had been hit at least once but after checking it with my meter I noted the damage was mostly cosmetic. The restrooms were clean and stocked but the laundry room garbage was overflowing. I also noted that one of the two dumpster was overflowing but, the other one further down was empty.

Unless you get the 1/2 off with the senior citizen National Park Pass, it's gotten more expensive to stay ($30 a night up from $22). That being said, we arrived on a Sunday afternoon and the restroom/shower was not cleaned attended to until Wednesday, in the meantime no toilet paper or paper towels in the facility. The area around the dumpster was cluttered with dead fish and stunk terrible. Hookups worked well, easy pull thru on level concrete pads. Nice walking trails and very peaceful and quiet.

Overall our experience was great. The staff was helpful, courteous, and informative. LORA is secluded and as others have said you should bring what you will need for your stay. The mini-mart has some basic stuff: bread, beverages, and some essentials. Boat and Jet Ski rentals are available, but pricey. 50 amp service sites were ok; level with water, electric, and sewer. No internet, cable, or shade trees, and the sites were wide enough for RV only. When we opened our door we had a mud puddle to step into. AT $30 a night I would have liked a mini-patio area that was paved or concrete. 30 amp sites are not big rig friendly and do not have sewer, but offer shade and a great view of the lake. Bathhouse is small but clean and offer free laundry. As others have said follow the directions listed—don’t use the GPS. Depending on the direction that you are traveling from it may take you through back roads (gravel roads) etc. Deer and other game are plentiful and wander freely. We will visit again. I only give LORA a 4 star because of the narrow RV pads and mud outside out door.

We stayed at LORA for a nice break on the lake. The 50amp sites are in a block together in the open. 30amp sites are spaced out in a different area set amongst the trees. LORA gives a discount for those with Golden Age Passport. This helps since the cost for 50amp is $30 a nite. This park is in a recreation area not located on a base. It is set out on one of the fingers of Lake of the Ozarks. No great views from the 50amp sites but when you get down to the marina or one of the picnic areas it's a beautiful setting. There are cabins available for rent- some that have docks accessible. The marina has different watercraft available for rent. LORA is a few miles from the nearest town so have your groceries with you. When you do venture in to town there is plenty to do. There is a local winery trail with some great local tastings for you to sample. Make sure to go to the local state park, Ha Ha Tonka. Great hikes, springs & a castle ruin. We will visit again - hopefully our next visit we'll get a chance to enjoy the lake. Storms kept us off the water this visit.

Great campground. Long sites, concrete, picnic table, no trees to block satellite signal, clean, etc. Great place for water activities, which is why I only gave it a 2 for location. We aren't water people, and it is located miles from a town, then 4 miles up a narrow, hilly, windy road. But I would go there again, and they (Army) take the Golden Age Passport. If I was a boater or a fisherperson, I'd love it.

I think the price is a little steep it went up to $30 a night several private RV parks at the main part of the lake are at 35 a night and include Wi-Fi hookup and TV when you first pull into the park big rig and full hookups are on the right do not make the mistake of going straight into the park space is very limited and you will get stuck the park is very clean and the staff are friendly

We were very happy and impressed with this campground and the facilities at LORA. We stayed at the full hookup sites and we thought the sites were very nice and laid out well. These sites look fairly new so there is not a lot of shade trees like there is in the other parts of the campground. We did not see this as a problem because our awning gave us shade in the morning and early afternoon and the camper blocked the sun in the later part of the day. By the time we were able to camp here it was after Labor Day so it was not crowded at all. The staff was very nice and helpful. The bathrooms were very clean and well maintained. It seemed like you were out in the middle of nowhere but it was only about a 15 minute drive to Osage Beach.

This was a great place to say. It's a bit off the beaten path but well worth the time to get there. The site is right on the lake and they have a large amount of rental equipment available. We paid about $30/hr for a pontoon boat. When we were at other non-DoD facilities around the country the price was $150-$200/hr; a great deal. The facilities are a bit old but were clean and conveniently located. I liked that the Army had onsite MPs at the facility. We have already recommended this location to several of our friends. We will return.

J.B. left this review using the Directory software: - Other than a water leak in the pipe on our site, the new pull through sites were level and paved. Short on shade (none) so in the full summer be prepared to run air! We had to park full forward in our spot for the power cord to reach (39 ft 5th wheel) but there was room to park on the apron in front of the site. Staff was friendly and helpful. We'd do this again.

T.P. left this review using the Directory software: - We have stayed here on several occasions and during different times of the year. Staff is friendly and helpful. Military Police are there from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day and patrol the area by foot, bicycle, and car. Overall an enjoyable area.

Clean well maintained grounds. Level cement pads with clean restrooms. Marina has lots to rent but it is gas + rental which can get expensive. Spent part of the time in a cabin. They have kitchen supplies and are very nice. Enjoyed watching part of the military water training. This is our second year and we definitely will return next year. First year started out on new pad area where we had reservations. They allowed us to change to a more wooded site so don't be afraid to ask for the site you want.

Took the family here and pulled our, new to us 89 Avion on its maiden voyage (its being remodeled at the moment). What a great spot, bathrooms in RV area newly remodeled and very clean. Staff at office and store extremely nice. As we checked the whole campsite out, we noticed they have some very nice cabins. Tent camping only has outhouses, and not really within walking distance to the good bathrooms we were near. Had a great time fishing, kids all caught a few bluegills and crappies. Would definitely go again. We walked over to where the beach area is and there is a play ground for little kids, my wife took my youngest into those bathrooms, and she said it was filthy.

New asphalt has been laid on the street and parking lots. The pads are pull through but need to be widened so when you step out of your RV or motor home you don't have to step in the dirt or mud and the picnic table needs to be set on a slab not on the ground and in the mud. Other than that things were just great and I will return.

The area is beautiful, very rustic but difficult to navigate through if you have a big rig. The reservation/office people were friendly and helpful along with the Military police who were both professional and also helpful. The negative aspects of this park include aggressive unleashed dogs and filthy bathrooms. I have been in gas station bathrooms that were cleaner, the trash was not emptied the entire weekend. Overall the park is not well maintained and we will not be returning.

J.D. left this review using the Directory software: Very nice area. Rustic camp sites are clean and well maintained. Restroom (out houses) and water available throughout. RV area looked clean. Bath house and laundry are available and clean. Facilities also include, boat ramp, boat rentals @ the marina. Cabins for rent. Pavilion for parties. Beach area (needed to be worked on). Dump station for RVs. Admin office and country store is at the bottom of hill. I wouldn't recommend pulling a big rig down there, gets kinda tight. Major shopping (Wal-Mart) 10-15 miles. Osage Beach attractions also 10-15 miles away. Fantastic. Well worth the visit.

Me and my wife camped there five times over the summer and fall. Some times for over a week. We found the place great. There were always security people on site. The boats I rented were great and the staff at the boat dock, check in and store were great. The fishing was excellent. I always caught fish. My son and I fished a tournament where you could weigh a fish every two hours. My son caught and weighed a bass that weighed exactly 4 lbs and won 500.00 for it. It was great. Will be back again next year and bringing more people with me.

My wife, daughter and I just spent a three day weekend in a cabin, our first time there, thoroughly enjoying ourselves. Very nice area; we didn't mind the long drive into and out of the camp due to having friends close by. The MWR booklet in the cabin requires attention, primarily due to the information about the on-site store being incorrect. But again, we know the area and that wasn't a problem for us, but may be to others. Our daughter wants a cabin with a loft, and we would like one with preferably a screened-in porch. So next time we're going to check out some of those. There is an MP station on-site; however, over the course of our weekend, we did not see anyone manning it. It's a long drive from Ft Leonard Wood to respond out there. Overall, very satisfied, and anticipate our next trip out that way.
