I stayed one night on our way to Nashville. They now accept reservations. I agree with earlier posts that it could be a really nice CG if some funding was put towards improvements! Seems most sites were taken by homesteaders and it needed general cleaning. Cindy was very helpful in helping me find an open site. When I arrived on a Sunday there was a motor home in my assigned site which had obviously been there a long time so I just took a nearby empty one and called her number to let MWR know. Base Security was great about meeting us at the back gate for entry and even escorted us to FAMCAMP . I would return for a another overnight stay on my way somewhere else.

New policies are in place to eliminate the homesteaders. Max stay is 30 days and then a 7 day gap. Homesteaders are all gone. The rate is now $20 a day. The lady at MWR said there is no overflow or dry camping allowed. The resale lot had one camper sitting in it, with no for sale sign. There are 18 spaces and all seem to be back in. Many are suited for only smaller campers, 20 to 30 feet, and with a considerable tilt. The front gate of the base would be difficult for any camper to navigate, even a small one, due to the number of pylons installed. They look to be easily removed. No gas station or commissary on base. The NEX is small but has a good variety of goods and a well-stocked liquor store. MWR has plenty of equipment for rent for recreation or special events. The dining hall is closed on Mondays and there is a club that has some lunch events. The NEX has a sandwich shop. The Braves stadium is only a few miles away and the population of restaurants increases, closer to Truist Park.

I was TDY to Dobbins for two weeks. Although I didn't go there as an "RVer" I love to RV and like to scope out the FamCamps on different bases for future use. This one has huge potential! Lots of tress and shade next to a beautiful lake across from the BX. I walked thru it almost everyday and a couple of time at night and each time it seemed deserted. No one outside camping, just RV's. All the sites where taken, yet I felt alone. At night it's a little scary. That place gets dark, even with the RV's, there's no noise at all. I didn't know what to make of it.

Was stationed on the base while on active duty in the Navy for several years and came back to visit family in the area over the Thanksgiving week. I called several times to speak with the manager(Terry) about an opening because they were full and wont take reservations. After calling back on Monday as instructed he said he would have one spot the next day but it was first come first serve. So I drove all day from JRB Nola campground to get there before the office closed only to find out, he was not there that day and the young lady in the office had no idea if they even had room because she hadn't been over there yet today, it was 1500. She said go look and see if there is room, I went over and the people had never left so there was only one spot that was conned off saying reserved, I inquired about this spot and was told they were coming back. I insisted on a place to stay for the night even if it was the parking lot and she called the manager and he said to give me the spot for the night and check back in the next day, which I did and turns out the people never paid so I got the spot for a week. Now to the BAD part! the camp ground seemed abandon very few people moving about, I thought maybe because it was Thanksgiving week I did see one guy and said he had been living there for 3 years, when I seemed surprised he said thats nothing, see that 5th Wheel, they have been here 15 years! He said with the exception of me and 1 other everyone had been there over a year. There are sites marked 14 day only yet this policy is not enforced. The Mens bathroom only had 2 working showers out of 4. One of which had a shower head chest high 5'. Positive note was free laundry, one washer and dryer. The RV sites are not level, you will need lots of blocking to make it work. I left the campground early and went to the world famous Navy late site at lake Altoona, same price, but worth the drive to and from Acworth GA. I am sure the problem is funding but the Airforce really needs to do something about policy and clean up the campground and update the electrical service to 50 amp.

Stay for the night. Outdoor rec is closed for COVID. Famcamp has camp host to manage it and answer questions and take payment if Internet is working. Most site would be impossible for anything over 20ft and most sites are very unlevel. I could not use my auto level system and could not get level manually but close. Nice clean little RV Park. Security at main gate took down bollards coming in an going out.

Nice, quiet campground just north of Atlanta. Most sites not level, extra levelling blocks recommended. Host was friendly and helpful. Bathhouse clean and offers free laundry. No WIFI, and a dump station vs sewer at site. BX is located a very short walk to the north. Walking trails nearby on base.

We drove our car to Dobbins AFB and decided to checkout the famcamp.  As I read the reviews about the famcamp, I can't help but wonder what kind of camping facilities these people consider nice. The only one I agreed with was the 2015 review.  With a little sprucing up, the campground could definitely be a place you'd want to return.  Most of the RVs, if not all, had been there long term.  One of them had plastic bins stacked as high as possible and on the ground half covered with a tarp.  If the base is going to let people live long term (which shouldn't be allowed), there should be rules established to keep the famcamp looking good.  RVs should be washed on a regular basis and residents should get a storage unit rather than stacking their belongings around the RV.  We stopped at an RV Park in California in 2014 that had both long and short termers.  All the long termers were around the outside perimeter and everything around the RV was well maintained, other than being told the outside perimeter was for long term, you would never have guessed.

We arrived today after a long drive and hoped we would find a spot that would work for our 30 ft travel trailer. We knew we might have trouble based on the no reservation system. Directions through gate 2 were good and the guard sent us directly to the famcamp. The sign said to find a spot, set up camp and then go to the recreation office to pay for our stay. We drove through the campground and were so thankful we found one good spot. So we parked our rig, set it up - fighting with the misquitos - and then proceded to the office to pay for our stay. The young man behind the desk was pleasant and started taking our information and payment when a woman came from a back office and asked which spot we were in. When we told her, she said, "Oh, I am sorry but that spot is taken!" We couldn't believe it! This was supposed to be a first come, first served campground. It seems someone had already paid for that particular spot. She told us there were cones in that spot... and there were not. She also said the neighbors would have told us it was taken - in fact they told us it was open. In our opinion, this woman allowed someone to "reserve" a spot. We were so upset with this treatment that we packed up and left - although - we believe we had the right to stay. I intend to file a complaint with the Dobbins ARB services office concerning this incident.

New Rate as of Jan 2019 is $16 night. They are in process of changing from no reservations to reservations accepted. Currently no laundry facilities. Great location for Atlanta activities.

We like it. It is small and only a few sites will work for large rigs. Our daughter lives close by so we will be back.

Some sites are not big enough for large RVs. Had to disconnect my hitch on my class A for steep ramp. Also, here are some edited directions. I-75 south of Marietta, exit to GA-280, west 1/2 mile to Dobbins Air Reserve Base. Exit right onto US 41 (sign will say Dobbins ARB), stay to the left. At the traffic light, turn left. Get to the far right, the gate will be on your right after you go over the overpass. ---- All FamCamp guests must enter the installation through the main gate; Gate #1. You will see the POW/MIA monument on your left continue straight where the brown sign will direct you to Lakeside Landing/Tickets & Travel/ FamCamp. Turn on your first left which is Lake Circle, and immediately turn right again into what looks like a parking lot. The only sign on this turn is one that said "playground". If you are towing a car this will be the best place to unhook. In front of you are two buildings, 538 on the right and 537 on your left. Now you will see the first and only sign that says "FamCamp". If you have an extremely large rig or trailer you may call Security Forces in advance of approaching the main gate so the bollards may be taken down. That contact number is: 678-655-4909.

Stopped by to check it out in hopes of finding a campsite. Called beforehand and was told there were 3 available. In reality there was one which would have required us to put our 5th wheel on stilts on the front. One word for this campground and that is pitiful. What's sad is it wouldn't take much to make it a nice place to stay. Start by removing the long term homesteaders that have been there for year apparently. It's not a housing project but a Fam"camp". Secondly is to clean up the grounds and remove the dead trees. Not much really and considering the proximity to Atlanta, it could be a nice place to stay.

As we were embarking to PCS to Fort Campbell, this was the halfway point for us. You arrive at gate 2 on Saturday, called the Air Force SPs who promptly unlocked the gate for us to come through. We didn't have to wait but about 3 minutes before he arrived, and instructed us how to get to the FAMCAMP. Once you get there you will have to go to Bldg 558 which was down the road from the RV park in order to pay for the space. We drove through first to get a feel for the park, first it's small and quaint, I was a little worried about pulling our 31foot Travel trailer with our F150 it was tight but we pulled it just fine. After making the circle we headed to find bldg 558. The gentleman was extremely nice, and quick. We paid the $12.00 and headed to our spot, backed in and hooked up. The park is heavily shaded and across from the BX which was nice, as they had a subway, barber shop within walking distance. The lake was brown because I'm assuming the heavy rains that had been going on. The proximity to family we had in Marietta was amazing and we will definitely use this again when visiting Atlanta. The next day I used the showers and they were extremely clean, and the amenities were nice. I was surprised and expected less because of the reviews but for me this was nice.

I have stayed at Dobbins Lakeside Campground on two separate occasions. Other review comments accurately reflect my observations and impressions. I had a 1-ton crew-cab ford pickup and 36 foot fifth wheel trailer at the time. Many of the camp sites were unsuitable for my rig even if they had been available for occupancy. The road through the campsites is a narrow one-way winding single lane with one steep hill at mid-loop. All RV sites are back-in, with some conveniently angled, and many not, being approximately perpendicular to the road. Close on either side of the roadway are pine trees, dirt banks, etc. I had great difficulty trying to maneuver into some of the spots, needing to drive the front truck tires off of the roadway into the "wildlands." In some sites the close proximity of pine trees severely hampered my ability to maneuver to swing the trailer's rear overhang into a parking pad. Most sites have very small relatively level concrete pads, but the access drives onto the pads requires either backing up or descending down a steep slope to park on the pad. Backing downhill, the rear overhang of a long RV would contact the pad due to the abrupt angle difference . . . or backing up-hill, the front trailer jack would be down-slope from the pad. I deemed these sites totally unusable for my rig. On one occasion MWR management allowed me to park and dry camp for several days in the parking lot next to the tennis courts, near the campground entrance while waiting for a satisfactory site to become available. I walked through the entire campground with the MWR manager trying to point all of the problem areas and deficiencies that I had noted. There has probably been no improvement since then. It sounded like it would be a back burner priority for any attention and funds. Basically, it is an old campground designed for short light weight RVs that needs serious updating to modern RV size and weight standards.

Only 4 sites are suitable for large RV's. When we arrived there were 5 empty sites available. We were able to get a site across from the dump station which helped since there is no sewer hookups available. The shower/laundry facility needs upgrading. There is one washer and dryer located in womans and mens bathrooms.

We TRIED to stay here but the campground is so small and the homesteaders who can stay up to 6 MONTHS made it impossible. With almost no turn over this place should be re-named a trailer park. For the thousands of people who want to go camping in the area you either have to go commercial or Corps of Engineers or go up to Lake Allatoona. The people in the office were nice enough but then, they should be, there is very little for them to do if they don't have to bother with registrations. It is obvious that they are not serious about having a FamCamp on base so save the time and pass this one up.

I stopped at this location in Marietta Ga on both ends of a trip from Ohio to Key West. It was a nice, quiet SMALL RV campground. There are only a couple spaces for larger RVs. I checked in once and got there late at night the other stop. The staff was great at check in and it was easy to pay when arriving late. There is a small BX but no commissary VERY close to the campground. The price is now $14 per night for electric and water and a dump station. It is close to lots of shopping and good places to eat. The shower house was fine and had good pressure and hot water for showering. There is also a small bar with food on some nights at the campground. Overall, as a short stop for passing through this is an excellent option. I would stay again.

Arrived today for a 4 day stay. The hardest thing was finding Gate 2. The correct GPS coordinates For gate 2 are 33.92906N, 84.54005W. Than there are no sign for the Famcamp till you get to it. For Famcamp the GPS coordinates are 33.92184N, 84.52132W. NO 50 Amps, no wifi, no cable but many local channels, too many trees for satellite.

Stopped in Dobbins for a few days on my way south for the season, easy to find and easier to get into- kudos! No host but the office is an easy walk and the guys are knowledgeable of the local area, accommodating and very easy to work with. No commissary but the BX is a short walk across the street and will fix you up with vittles on short notice. Yeah I'll do Dobbins again.

Made a reservation for a specific site, and it was occupied when we arrived. Went to the office (located off site), and they switched us to another site, which was fine. We booked 3 nights. On the third night, another guy came and said he had booked the site we were in (Double booked, again...), and he was ok with taking the site across the street. Then, another guy came and claimed to be booked in the site the second guy was in, and he wouldn't take another empty site. Staff was not available to sort things out (Sunday). We moved, and dry camped in the parking lot. Next day, staff notified me that the third guy was in the wrong spot, and had caused the whole problem. We did get a refund, though. The sites are very small, all back in sites, and most of them have extreme up and down slopes. No sewer at the sites, but a dump station before leaving. Will not return.
