Hello fellow servicemembers,

New to the boards and RV'ing. In the process right now of looking to buy an RV for my little wife and I. Just wanted to introduce myself to the community. I'll be searching through the site for info before I shoot any questions your way.

Right now we are looking to buy a Class A Gas RV. Specifically we're looking at the Forest River Georgetown 328TS. We'll be looking to buy around January if everything goes according to plan, but you know how that goes.

We're going through the usual... "Oh my goodness, are we really going to do this?" feelings but at the same time we're excited. We have a ton of questions and are completely new to this idea. Though we've been doing research for just shy of 2 years. Hope to get to know some of you.

Thanks larryf for putting this together.

Haha for many Guardians that might be true, but not for me. I've circumnavigated the globe and been to Antarctica twice. Thanks for the welcome powerboatr.

Hey Chief, don't worry about the squids they are harmless. Welcome to the forum. Been retired for 17 years now, went to college for two years, worked for 5 for Lockheed, and fulltimed for four before health stopped us fulltiming. We still spend five months in Mexico in the winter and travel some in the summer if the price of diesel lets us. 14 and a half sea duty on one DD and one DE when I was in the Navy, and three 378s and one 255. Sounds like you were on a red one or two.

stanbnv, great to see another Coastie on here. Appreciate the welcome. Yes, I was on the Polar Star. 2 trips to Antarctica and 3 to the Arctic.

The wanderlust has never left me though. So the little wife and I are seriously considering doing this. We've done a lot of research and still have so many questions. But one foot in front of the other, so far we're still moving forward.

The questions we have are embarrassing to ask. You know simple things like:
1. Does the hot water get hot right off the bat, or are all showers going to be cold?
2. Do new RVs come with all the hoses ready to hook up? Or do we need to buy the black water, fresh water hoses?
3. How important are those little centipede looking raised dump hose attachments?
4. Are wheel covers important or overrated?

And so many more. Glad to know that I have a shipmate here. Might want to bend your ear someday.

Wisdom comes from experience and though a retired Chief, when it comes to RV'ing I have no wisdom to offer at this point other than to seek those who do.
