This is an outstanding Campground/Facility. It is right next to the beach, it has everything that attracts most campers. Full Hookups (including 50 AMP) and the only thing it lacks is a good Mart to purchase food/groceries. There is a MCX Mart but you can thing of it as a high end 7/11. Definitely nice but not the type of place you can get groceries for cooking if you are staying say, a week (hence my four starts on Amenities/Facilities). Having said that, you can find anything your heart desires by driving seven miles Nortwest to the main complex, and by anything I mean ANYTHING! Just as I read in the comments, service at the reservation office appears to find its balance by swinging from one extreme to the other and it is hit or miss. When we checked in on Saturday, the reception could not have been more helpful, pleasant and professional. My immediate thought was, "it seems they likely addressed the customer service "opportunities" here. Overall it was a wonderful and outstanding experience. We've liked it here so much that we went to the office this morning looking to book, with our fingers crossed, another week at a later time next month. The lady at the desk could not possibly have been more unwilling to help. She dismissed us right away by saying "everything is booked through November" which could very well be the true and the one question she is asked every fifteen minutes. Had she faked looking at her system for cancelations (we hadn't even provided dates to her yet), I would have been perfectly cool with it yet she did not. She spent more time dismissing our inquiry than would have taken her to look and see if there was anything available, even after I told her that the very reservation we are currently enjoying was booked a short three weeks ago. Classic Customer Service 101 that seemed unattainable today. We'll go back tomorrow in hopes that the pendulum swings in the other direction and some one at least "fakes" looking for availability. This place is simply Outstanding.

Onslow Beach has reopened as of Dec 14, 2018; However the Osprey, Cabanas and rank beach houses (E9, O5, O6 and GO/FO) are NO LONGER available and the dry camping area is closed. Public beach access will be limited to the area extending from the EB Training area to Star Fish Pavilion. The beach has seen significant shifts, resulting in the potential for sharp drop offs just off the shoreline. www.mccslejeune-newriver.com/beach

Onslow Beach – Camp Lejeune NC $32 a day RV site with cable/electric/water/sewer/WiFi Pros: + Location- sites are located on the Intercostal Waterway with a 5 min walk to the Atlantic Ocean + MCX shop on site for all your shopping needs (only open thur-sun) + Bathroom key cards for access (keeps bathrooms cleaner) + Temperature controlled bathhouses + Cabins/beachfront villas available for rent (we did not explore them so no feedback avail) + Sites are grass with a covered picnic table attached to each site + Handicap shower stall available + Laundry - $2 for wash $1.50 for dry + Trails throughout the base for biking/running + Glacier water refill station on site + Fenced in dog park Cons: - We loved it but others may not: Live fire ranges can be heard in the distance as well as LZ/DZ nearby - Pretty far distance from things other than the beach (which can be really nice but also can consume a fair amount of gas if you plan to do activities away from camp) - Several long term residents so it can be difficult to get a spot at times, but totally worth the wait - Though there is WiFi the signal is weak, unless you are in the laundry room where it is housed We really enjoyed our stay at this campground. It's a great spot for someone who loves fishing, lounging on the beach, going for beach hikes or wanting to see/hear military training.

Overall this is a good spot. Great location, not to crowded - however, I do have a couple 'complaints'. When we made our reservations, we asked for a specific site. We were told it wouldn't be a problem because this time of year didn't have may RV'ers. When we arrived, The site we asked for was already taken - funny thing... every other site was open. There was no one else there. Pretty disappointed about that. Next, 32$ a night seemed a little high for a military base, but it was cheaper than staying out in town at a local RV park. The small PX that is right there on site has NO camping supplies - it has plenty of beer, hotdogs, chips and sand castle building supplies. You would think that they, MCCS would carry a small about of RV/Camping supplies for those unforeseen emergencies that we have from time to time. Beware that there is a contracted lawn service that is "up and moving" at 7:30 am on Saturday mornings (in the rain, none the less) Lastly the fresh water hook ups will be in your 'front yard' and the sewer lines are very far forward and uphill, so you'll need supplies to run your hose UP HILL to empty - plus your neighbors septic is also in your front yard. Its not terrible, but on experience, the hook ups are usually far enough back, that this isn't normally a concern. The only way to fix this issue was to basically have our trailer so far forward, that our hitch was almost in the road. I'm not trying to bash this place, it is a great location, they have clean showers and a decent laundry facility - I just want to bring attention to issues that we delt with on our trip.

This was our first time at Onslow and we were NOT disappointed. We drove down from Maryland for an extended 2021 Memorial Weekend Vacation. From check in to check out this location was perfect and the grounds were well kept (and this is coming from a retired Air Force family). The services were amazing and the location to ocean was the best. The staff were professional and courteous. We have a 25ft travel trailer, and I booked last minute so we stayed in the circular area campsites. The site was great but a little small (if I had something to critique), but perfect for popups and tents. When we visit next time, and we will visit again, I will try for one of the bigger sites.

We stayed at Onslow Beach on Camp Lejeune in one of the oceanfront cabanas. They are amazingly spacious studio units, with a comfortable king-sized bed, a kitchen at one end of the main room, and a separate bathroom with a shower. The unit comes supplied with linens, cooking and eating utensils, and an initial supply of toiletries and paper towels. The units we stayed in had a full kitchen with a small refrigerator and other large and small kitchen appliances, except a dishwasher, which we really didn't miss. Each unit also has a large deck overlooking the ocean. The only thing we missed was someplace to store our clothes, but we worked that out by placing our open suitcase on the bench at the foot of our bed. The resort has three life-guarded beach areas, plus roving lifeguards that walk and drive up and down the beach all day long from Memorial Day through Labor Day. In addition to the usual beach activities, we enjoyed shelling and finding sharks' teeth. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a minor problem (a sticking entry door), which they fixed immediately, even though it was late on a Sunday afternoon. There is also a mini-mart right at the beach in case you forgot something or feel like having some ice cream or another snack. We are looking forward to staying in a cabana unit at the other end of the beach in September and October. We've been told they have a larger refrigerator, but are otherwise identical to the cabanas we stayed in. Onslow Beach also has other lodging units that sleep up to 6 people, but since we are a retired couple, the cabanas are perfect for us. This facility is a fantastic value, so needless to say, all of the lodging units are in high demand and it is important to reserve a place as soon as reservations can be made. If we can reserve a lodging unit, we plan to make Onslow Beach a yearly destination. We also plan to stay in the RV area of the facility.

Another great stay, clean bathhouse, clean campsite. Great people working in the front office. Hope the COVID-19 doesn't close this campground down again, my family and I look forward to returning later this summer. Stay safe and healthy. RLMcDaniel

Decent sites with gravel. Water connection is located behind next site picnic areas. Cable TV is excellent. WiFi is excellent and responsive. Camp Host walks the entire CG at least 3 times a day and is ready to assist in info. Temp CG office is South of CG. New Temp Mini-mart is convenient if you don't want to drive to the MCX/Commissary which is not exactly around the corner. Head/shower facilities very clean. Laundry facilities also clean. Ocean breeze is very nice and cool during the day and makes for ideal sleeping weather. Boat traffic on the ICW is nice to watch. Office asked about dog but didn't require proof of shots even though I had the entire record. This CG is great for relaxing and tanning on the beach. Highly recommended.

Our 2nd time at Onslow. We had numerous issues last years visit. Not one problem this time. Check in was a breeze, we were able to select between 3 available sites. Everything was very smooth this time around. Staff friendly and answered any of our questions. COVID precautions throughout the base. Most all beach cottages and pavilions have been rebuilt since our last trip. The sand dunes also have been replanted. The campground was full the whole time (3 weeks) we were there. Only thing different from the above description, is there no longer is any WiFi in the RV park. Excellent visit and planning on returning in the Spring, hopefully for a month.

The camping area at Onslow Beach is still available and in excellent condition.Unfortunately, while we were staying in a Cabana in September of 2018, we were forced to evacuate due to Hurricane Florence, which produced major damage to most of the lodging units. The three-bedroom Ospreys, the ocean front Studio Cabanas, and the units reserved for higher ranking officers and enlisted were all rendered uninhabitable. At this time, the only units that are still available are the lodges. They are $56/night from November 1st through March 31st and $70/night (with a three night minimum)from April 1st through October 31st. Here is the information their web site provides about the lodges: Conveniently located on the second row of the island and just a short walk to the ocean! All lodges include a living room, full kitchen, master bedroom with a queen size bed, 1 bath and a loft area. All lodging units are fully furnished to include kitchenware. Please bring your own air mattress or sleeping bags if you will be using the loft area (extra linen is provided). Lodges can accommodate 2 - 4 if using loft area. Smoking is prohibited in MCCS facilities. Pet friendly units are available at an additional daily charge.

We trucked our camper and stayed in the loop. Our sons and their families rented a beach house. It was a short bike ride back and forth to each. Had lots of great beach days and a great fireworks show on base. The little distance between our camper and the sites pavilion kept us from opening our awning and the site was a bit cramped, but that isn't what we were there for.

I enjoyed Camp Lejunes Onslow Beach it is by far the best beach I have been to for shark teeth and the shell collecting is ok too. For all you people that cry about the RV park area at the beach, get a lodge they are nice. Reserve one like 5 months in advance, I did in Feb and have one in June. I have been here many times and enjoyed every moment of this beach. I would collect shark teeth in the morning before the beach was full then at night I would shrimp and fish. Bottom line is you don't like this beach that means less to worry about come summer for the ones who do love this beach and have the privilege to use it like myself. You know what I mean it just amazes me that sometime no matter what you do you can never make some people happy I guess. But o well I like the place. So rent a lodge or one of the cabins on the surf you will love it there if you don't like fighting for space in the RV park I promise you that you wont be disappointed in the cabins. Latter y'all just felt like I had to say my peace about this beach it ain't a bad place.

This is an awesome campground. Stayed here 2 weeks in the off season. The park and facilities were spotless. Friendly staff to assist your needs. You are right next to the beach and can hear the ocean at night. Can't beat the price. As stated previously go over the draw bridge and turn right to check in. They are in the process of building a new beach bx/annex. Main exchange and commissary is on the mainland about a 20 to 30 minute ride. Base traffic is very heavy at times so expect delays. If entering from main gate off NC24 travel about a mile or better to Sneads Ferry Rd on left look for signs to Onslow Beach. This is a very active Marine Camp so you can expect to hear and see Marines training. During our stay they were firing 155's about a half a mile from the campground and Ospry helos were flying overhead day and night. I am not complaining as this was music to my ears but let the spouse know there will be some noise and some nights into the wee hours of the morning. During your stay be sure to check out the $3.00 movies on base also a well stocked commissary with great prices.

Very nice campground! Pleased in all aspects. Nice location by the ocean with a 7 day store a short walk away. The dog walk park was really nice to have. It's great to let the dogs run and they even provide poop bags. No complaints with barking dogs. Camp host were friendly and very helpful. I think the bad posts may be from people that feel that they have an entitlement. No one is entitled a certain spot. Doesn't matter your branch, age, former rank or size of camper. Book early, show up on time and be happy for what you get! Simple, right? Yeah, it's a Marine perspective! Hospitality was a 5! My only complaint is the cleanliness of the bath house. Specifically, the showers. In over a week there the showers were never really cleaned if at all! The beach sand remained on the floor of the shower the whole time. Tune up the cleaning crew! Even with that, this is a wonderful facility that you will enjoy.
Many of us worked hard for these retirement benefits; so be satisfied. It beats the KOA! S/F Goldjumper

My wife and I enjoyed our stay(2nd time here this year). We had RV site #12. The Campground and bath house were very clean. A short walk to the beach and mini MCX. Courteous and Professional staff at the reservation office. We look forward to returning in the near future. We stayed July 15-18. RLMcDaniel

My wife and I stayed for about three months during the authorized long stay period. Overall we were very pleased with the park and location. There is a small but well stocked BX near the park office. The beach is just one sand dune away from the RV sites. There were no loud parties in the RV site and the beach is very clean as one would expect on a military base. The RV sites all have adequate parking and a covered picnic table next to the RV. One thing my wife advises, is that campers should be aware that Camp LeJeune is an active training base. There are various helicopters flying closely over the RV park and artillery firing near the camp grounds on some nights.

What a hidden jewel. This is a fabulous campground. If you like a quiet, beautiful beach this is the place for you. It is quite a distance from the main interstate north, south travel route so this would be a destination campground. It is such a tremendous value. We had a full hook up site (electric, water, sewer), multi channel cable, very fast wifi and a tin roof covered picnic table. To top it all off, it is a short walk to a lovely beach or to the pier at the intercoastal. The check in staff was very helpful. In fact my husband was experiencing some eye problems and they were extremely helpful in finding proper medical care. Also, our motorhome was experiencing some mechanical problems and they worked with us with no hassles to adjust our departure date and provide a refund. The sites are gravel, somewhat spacious but they do slope to the rear. Our Verizon signal was exceptional and we were able to easily use our roof mounted satellite. The base exchange was very large and also the commissary was outstanding. Hated to leave this bit of paradise but hope to return soon.

Just thought I'd advise all that, due to damage by hurricane Florence the Onslow Beach is CLOSED until further notice: months back we had reserved for the end of Sept, but got a call earlier this week that the campground has been closed & will remain so until further notice. :-(

Just stayed for two weeks that ended Nov 4th. It was great as usual. My wife and I both love it there. They have changed one thing. Now from Nov thru March you can rent for a month or more and get an additional 10% off. The only drawback we had was the Wi-Fi was slow this time. I've heard that they have had problems since the Hurricane. Still the best bang for the buck.
