Agree to all previous reviews. It's still 8 miles off the highway, still not kept up, and still $30. But it's secure, small but nice commissary and great fuel prices (diesel included). Not a bargain but at least full hookups. Arrived on a Friday, early May and only 10 sites filled. Wasn't impressed with ODR either. Kind of a sad state of affairs.
Our son is stationed at this base, so the location could have not been better. It is quiet (except 1st weekend of the month for drill) and close enough to "town" for all amenities. Previous reviews of the sites are accurate...50A FHU pull-thrus are narrow and the 30A W/E back-ins have more room. The showers & restrooms are immaculate. There is no wi-fi or cable on the site and the amenities are limited on base, but definitely worth the...
The famcamp was easy to find. Has nice LONG concrete pull-thrus with full hookups and cable for $25/night. There is no wifi, but our Verizon service had 4 bars to utilize our own internet. We were told there is free laundry over at the Inn, but we didn't use it. We stayed here over the New Year's weekend which ment the park was quiet (no planes flying), nice & secure. It also ment the MWR was closed; we were...
We drove out to see the famcamp only to find the gate locked. Glad we were not towing, as there was little room to turn around! No number on gate but called number on this website. Recording says they are closed due to the flooding earlier this year.
It was a great experience - off base but close, quiet & well maintained, friendly hosts, large sites with trees, picnic tables and fire rings & paved interior roads all at a great price! It was only lacking in cell phone reception (Verizon sometimes had 3G & 1 or 2 bars at best). General comments - Only a few sites were concrete, rest were gravel. Depending on your satelite dish, only a few sites would accommodate a roof mounted system...
This is now Joint Base McGuire Dix Lakehurst. A very large base with many gates. If you have a site number, unhook and then check in at Outdoor Rec. Directions to famcamp from Route 68 Gate - after entering gate go around traffic circle and take first right onto 4th St. At first stop light/dead end take right onto New Jersey Ave. Take first left after church onto 8th St. Go approx 1 mile...
Best access to the famcamp is entering through the back/commercial gate. Coming from Sumter on Hwy 378, the back gate is the 1st gate on the right. You do not have to use the commercial side of the gate. Back gate closes at 10pm. After passing through the gate, take a left at the light. Follow road (Patrol/Perimeter Rd) around gate and tree line for approximately 1 mile. FamCamp will be on your right....
Great famcamp. The host escorted us to our site and then proceeded to give us a great briefing on the park, base and local area. The sites were great, long cement pads with plenty of elbow room. About the only negitive is the water drainage leaves a lot to be desired. We had a good rain one afternoon and water was over an inch deep on our site and deeper in other places. After about...
We stayed here in our 40' 5th wheel with no issues. The sites are mostly pull thrus off the road with a couple back ins. There is a number of trees around the sites which give the campground it's feel. All the sites had a fire pit and a cement pad with picnic table. If you have a DoD sticker, the gate is just outside, easy in easy out. Savannah has a lot to offer...
Was in town for Super Bowl and stayed there. The manager, Kenny is very informative, along with the other folks who work in MWR. He provided us information about the ferry to downtown, best way to get there and good restruants to eat at in the area. The park is very new, have to be aware as sign identifing park is hard to see from road. Its a very nice park. Large sites with...
The park is a gem in the rough. Nice location just behind the commissary. The exchange is one of the better ones I've seen. The park is nice, just at the edge of the housing area. All the sites are large with concrete pads and full hookups. The directions on this site are correct and easy to use. Registration was all done over the phone as there was no instructions in the mail box....
New campground - that says it all. The sites are all concrete with blacktop access. Large, easy access pull throughs and some back ins. Because campground is new, the grass was not cut yet - also because early in the spring and they haven't had a chance. They are looking for a camp host and this will only improve the park. My only neg is there is no signs to identity the location of the...
The park is laid out with large sites. We stopped here mid Oct and was only half full. Looks like there are folks who are permanent residence here. The overall park is overrun with weeds. There is no grass anywhere on the park. The sites have a good concrete pad but the weeds are thick in the rock areas around the rig. For the money, I can find better facilities. On a good...
We would not recommend anyone stay at this facility until some attention was given. We had stayed here in 2008 and the facilities were in better condition. The campground is run down and shows a definite lack of care and maintenance. There is dog mess all over the grounds, even showed where one site must of had a large dog tied up outside their rig and left it's evidence all over the site. No one is...
Since the last time here (2007) they have added 15 new pull through sites. These sites are long and quite a bit of space between them. The only draw back is all the utilities are in the back part of the site. They do have a cement picnic table on each site. The cost of the pull throughs are $17.00 a night but that is still a deal. Note - you must go in the North...
Excellent park. Very nice location with decent size sites. Access in/out is basically one way but easy to deal with. The only draw back is the lack of water pressure. The bath house and laundry room are clean and well maintained. We will be staying at this park again next spring.
