We were on our way to Alaska and I had an appointment at David Grant Medical Center so this was an ideal place to spend 10 days waiting for my appointment. We arrived without a reservation although I placed several phone calls and left messages. We were able to get a site and chose site #1 since we could stay the 10 days we needed. My wife ended up in ICU at David Grant and was subsequently transferred to...
What a lovely surprise. Yes we were required to undergo an inspection of our rig, but nothing like previously stated. We were not required to go into an enclosed room and accompanied the airman doing the inspection (looking for hidden persons). Not sure what Vandenberg has over bases like Andrews et al. This is the 41st base (AF - not including the numerous Navy and Army installations) and only the 2nd where we were required to even open the...
I guess I should have known Friday the 13th!! The only reason that we visited was because we participate in the Air Force Frequent Camper Program (Edwards completed tier 4). To say the place is unkempt is being kind. It looks abandoned. There was no indication that there was an employee on site. No posted signage and when I asked one of the 5 campers what the procedure was I was told to find an unlocked utilities box and...
This was our 4th time staying at Andrews. This time was by far the best experience with both Andrew and Denise being very helpful and accommodating. Denise invited us to participate in a pot-luck lunch during our stay and was a great treat. We took advantage of the base gym. Even though President Obama did play golf during our stay we were not locked down and were able to exit the base, just not via Virginia...
The location is excellent if you want to be in the area. There are other famcamps in the immediate area but they were all booked up for the weekend. The entry to the park isn't as bad as others make it out to be. You can pull forward enough to see in both directions. There is obvious signs that some work is being put into the park and I talked with the park manager and they...
After reading some of the reviews I wasn't sure what to expect. The staff was extremely helpful and managed to extend our stay in the site we were first assigned to. The bathrooms are clean and plenty of hot water. Laundry facilities are spotless and FREE, with an ironing board and iron available. The fishing pier is undergoing renovations and lights have been added recently. Great walking areas and easy walk to commissary and exchange....
What a great GREAT experience on the Great Lakes. The RV Park is a rock throw from Lake Michigan and the views are phenomenal. The people at the marina are superb and we were able to take a chartered fishing trip right out of the marina. Yes, there is no sewer or water hookup and the bath house is not very convenient but everything else makes up for it. Chicago is real close and a...
We have family at Fort Belvoir and decided to stay here rather than Andrews on our way through after vacationing the summer with our granddaughter. I didn't expect a problem getting a spot as we were here last year and there were only a handful of campers...SURPRISE...we got the last site for two nights and then had to move for the third night (and those sites were to "premium" water front - although they aren't premium - no views)....
Wonderful setting and great amenities for those with kids wanting activity. Good playground, paddle boats, canoes, etc. The swimming area needs attention since it is becoming overgrown with water plants and the swim platform needs attention. Our granddaughter was asked to take a swim test consisting of swimming out to the platform and climb up on the platform..no ladder or handholds to use to get yourself up (I was told that the ladder had fallen off and...
If I could rate Cleanliness/Hospitality a 0 I would have. When I contacted the MWR upon arrival I felt like I had interrupted their day. The only value to Willow Pond is the locality to Philadelphia. There are NO shower facilities and the "bathroom" facilities were so dirty I wouldn't have taken my dog in for fear of him catching a disease. There is no WIFI (even at the PX/Food Court - I did find WIFI...
