We were told over the phone that there were three 30 amp site so we came into the park, only to find that none of those would accommodate our 40 ft motorhome. The rate has gone up for dry camping from 13 as stated here to $17 per night. And if you stay one minute past 10:00 a.m. leaving they charge you $39 fee not 34. For as many sites as they have, it's unfortunate that there are so many...
Just a comment that ADA eligibility is not closely monitored. We have a placard but both ADA sites are full with no placard to be seen. Camp host phone is (904) 502-9382.
Things must have changed around here a lot since the previous reviews. We did not see any homesteaders, and the sites are level and graveled. Andy is a gem. When we called from Paso Robles he assured us there were plenty of sites available for a Monday arrival. Our plans changed and we arrived on Sunday instead - no problem. The access to the Bx/Commissary couldn't be better - there is even a walkway in case you choose to...
Called ahead, reserved a site for 4 nights, paid for first night with cc. After a long, hot drive we arrived to find our assigned site occupied. Camper claimed to also have paid for the site. Called office and was told there had been a mixup. No kidding. Gave refund and allowed us to use dump station. Fortunately, my wife had spotted an RV park at the VFW across from the main gate. They were very accommodating.
This has to be the easiest setup we have ever experienced in our rig. Directions listed above are perfect. We drove up, turned into the driveway, drove about four spaces in, and found that site #16 (as many others) had an ENORMOUS drive through with concrete patio and full hookups. Drove in, left toad attached, and we were even pointed in the right direction to drive out. Check in was fast and efficient, great $20 rate, too....
I am so surprised that no one seems to have had trouble finding the gate. The main gate has a "no trucks" sign, and the next gate down on Fleming, the Commercial Truck gate, says no POV. There is no gate simply named "truck gate". We came in from South County line and drove the whole length of Fleming looking for a truck gate. Got to Mock and realized it must have been back there somewhere. We called and...
We just finished up a week here. Clarification of directions - exit 7 and then left on 23. We used Verizon air card with frequent disconnects except during work hours. Verizon said this campground is in an extended coverage area. Good location with good NEX and Commissary - nice new campground. Just wish they had though to put handicap bars in shower. Library has no DVDs to check out.
We are just winding up 2 weeks in this great FamCamp. For those who have read the preceding reviews and were put off by the comments about Tony, rest assured, he has moved on and the new manager is a lovely lady who is reviewing the rules. So no worries. We stayed in a site directly opposite the main gate, which is separated by a chain link fence and a row of trees. Upon arriving we...
Just stopped here overnight. Took site 11 - in the old area but on the corner, so we could make it into a pull through for our 40' rig + toad. Road noise minimal, staff very friendly, quiet surroundings. Verizon aircard yielded consistent 4G 4 bars - way WAY better than we experienced at Vandenberg. Just about to sample the tri-tip recommended by another reviewer and then we will be on our way. We found it...
We just finished a month here in site 24 and wish we could stay longer. This camp is just a gem. Our site was directly across from the (free!) laundry and the WiFi repeater (really good reception with 3 network connections to choose from. The handicapped shower was the nicest I have seen - grab bars all around. And this place is CLEAN. Because of the wildlife preserve on the base, you will see coyotes,...
Nice clean park, friendly host, great pull-through sites. We took site #2 across from the bathhouse and liked the shady site. Base has great commissary and BX,and overall the place looks very neat and clean. By the way, there is base map of Fairchild AFB, WA available at http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/facility/images/fairchild-basemap.gif
We stayed in the gravel portion in the back and really liked it there. The sites are very large, both long and WIDE. I work out of the RV so I wanted something to look at besides the side of someone else's rig, so we looked for an end spot. We found one, but the way the sites are set up you have the sun flooding in your windows at dawn or sunset. So instead, we...
