Stayed in two different sites in the trees over by the bath house--lucky for us they had a site available so we could extend our stay due to slide problems in our coach. Unfortunately we couldn't pick up a satellite signal from either spot, so no TV for a about a week (yes, we survived!). Did use the laundry room and it was clean even though one machine leaked out the front door which I reported to the office in case they didn't know. Men's restroom wholly acceptable as well. However, twice I reported to the staff at Billeting (by phone first, then later in person) the behavior we observed by a 30-day stay, "frequent flyer" old male retiree. We saw him let his off-leash dog poop nearby while he was busy dumping his black tank. Previously we had seen him fling said dog's poop into the woods near his rig as well as get this one: pluck a handfull of grass and actually attempt to cover the pile his dog made not far from our rig. I was told, "we really can't do anthing about this because we have to see him ourselves." REALLY? This is a Military Campground...rules can and should be enforced. Those who repeatedly ignore pet rules should be not be allowed to stay or come back.

We stayed here from 04-08 Feb 2019. All sites are back in. The site we stayed in was gravel. There is both gravel and concrete sites split about 50/50. The restroom and laundry building was undergoing renovations. As this is low season it was the best time to be done. Completion date is expected 30 April 2019. None of the sites have sewer. There is a sewer dump next to the restroom/laundry building. It has been unusually cold in the area while we were there. We had freezing rain and sleet several days of our stay. All of the the hydrants are anti freeze hydrants. With that being said they must be operated in the bypass position for at least 30 seconds to clear the line prior to being shut off. The past camp residents leaving when temperatures were above freezing did not clear the lines. The result was that some of the hydrants were frozen. This was NOT the fault of the facility or its staff. I believe all of the sites have a grill and picnic table. Commissary, Exchange, Library, Gym excreta are all about 3 miles. There is two small lakes that you can walk around. The area is quiet. I do not even remember hearing the aircraft during takeoff/landing. We had an excellent stay here at Scott AFB. Yes we will be using this campground again when we return to the St. Louis area.

Two visits to this Famcamp this summer. Outdoor recreation office is separated from campground, but when available were courteous and helpful. Grass areas were long first visit, and rained for a week. Grass was cut by second visit. Forced moving of your site is quite common if you stay there for a week or longer. This could be improved by the staff realizing the impact of picking everything up to move next door or to the far side. Bathhouse was newly renovated and usable. The spots on the bathhouse side were gravel, some others paved, but shade trees were very helpful to Air conditioners in the humid conditions. Biggest disadvantage with the park is the lack of sewer connections at all sites. Rumors of future improvements to the park on this great base would be welcome. For this area, value is good even with its problems.

Campground is easy to find, great amenities on base, must wear face mask at all locations during covid epidemic. No wifi or tv reception. Grass was being cut during our stay, but cutters missed all around spot 2.

For $20 it is what you pay for. Not the nicest, bathrooms dirty with metal toilets. Site 18 was big, level, and paved. Other sites are smaller. The spots in the trees are not paved, the spots near the lake are paved.

Hey Campers! Retired AF here. Short 2 day stay April 22. Another Air Force campground being run into the ground by MMW.... Sad but true. Some sites flooded, no FHU sites. Rutted up areas, no dog or playground parks. They need a host badly. Maybe the Air Force should take note of the MWR Navy 5 Star campgrounds.

I know we just arrived yesterday, but my first impression of this location isn't outstanding. We've been here two days now and haven't seen a camp host or anyone from MWR yet. I drive a 41' fifth wheel, so the campground is difficult to maneuver through. The roads are tiny and there were several branches hanging too low both within and getting to the campground. We were looking for site 12, but MWR decided to change my spot from 12 to 9, which is no problem, but nobody ever informed me of the switch. After pulling into the campground, we found our site and backed in, as all sites are back in sites. At least half are crushed rock and weeds while the other half in the first loop are paved. I connected the water and flushed the hose. First indicator something was up...it took almost a full minute for water to reach the other end of the hose. Water pressure is horrible on site. Our 50Amp outlet worked very well during our multi-meter check. No sewer connection, so we're conserving water. Got completely set up and we decided to check out the shower house. Toilets and urinals were procured from the Federal prison stock. They are stainless steel! Guess they didn't want anyone getting too comfortable on a porcelain stool with an actual toilet seat. Very odd. They have signs up asking for patience as they do repairs. Showers in the men's looked typical, but dirty. Women's side had an enormous hole in between the two available shower stalls. Assumption is the sexist opinion is women need to talk more than men, so they shortened the wall so women can chat when showering in adjoining stalls. Maybe this is one of the maintenance actions. Laundry room is decent with two each washers and dryers. Both washer and dryer are $1.00 to get started, and you can add $.25 for additional time on the dryers to reduce cost. We washed bed sheets already and the washer didn't do a great job. This campground could be a real gem because of the remote setting if they spent some time and money to add sewer, improve water pressure, add rock or upgrade to all asphalt sites, and upgrade the shower house and laundry facility. I just don't feel the amenities were worth the $130/week we paid compared to other military FAMCAMPs with FHU and nicer facilities.

Stayed two nights in site #24 in a 30 foot travel trailer. The gravel site was level side to side but we really had to crank up our tongue jack to get level front to back. Verizon cell phone reception was only one bar, sometimes two. Antenna TV reception was outstanding. The restrooms were modern and clean. Famcamp laundromat has two washers and two dryers. Very quiet at night with occasional jet noise during the day (hey, it's an Air Force Base, what do you expect?). Very nice fishing pond right next door, also a fabulous golf course very close. Everything else is several miles away as you must drive completely around the main runway. The dining facility had excellent food and was very inexpensive, as usual at an Air Force Base. It's worth mentioning that regular gasoline was 55 cents per gallon less expensive just across the river in Missouri.

Really love this famcamp. Stayed here both legs of our journey and would stay here anytime. Beautiful wooded setting. It’s private and safe and a wonderful place to unwind in the shadow of a major metropolitan city. We took a nice walk around the lake and got a leisurely start the next day. I love seeing children playing outside and fishing with dad in the lake. I use my own shower and bathroom most of the time but made a pit stop after hitching up and dumping. The facility was warm and clean everything was in working order. I’m thankful for the opportunity to camp on base and enjoy waking up to reveille.

Stayed here a few times and found the camp was more than acceptable....especially when compared to many others. This time, we dropped in unexpectedly on our way back from Florida. A quick call, provided info and credit card number, then picked out an available spot across from the bath house. Good electricity and good water pressure. Bath house is clean and has a security lock. Two washers ($1.00) and dryers ($ .75) in a clean room. This camp is quite close to St Louis and near the Interstate. Easy access with post they can remove for long rigs (I maneuvered my 34' travel trailer with no problems without removing the posts). There is no campground host, and no way to contact operators outside normal duty hours. You fill out a form for one night stays if after hours, then contact the staff the next operating day. Excellent BX and Commissary with large gas station/Class VI. This is a large, busy, well-maintained Base. The road into the camp has large chuckholes, but not too bad. Camp sits on Scott Lake with obviously good fishing. My GPS finds the camp with no problems, even though I know exactly where it is, so anyone can find it. Gate guards know where it is, so verbal directions OK. Camp near a large golf course. There is a running path (soft textured surface?) around the runways. Noise not bad despite active runway operation. Good aircraft static displays for kids to see. Good wood shop and other amenities for hobbyists. Don't worry about leveling campers: I stayed at sites 1,2, 22-something, and 12 (currently no power at site 12, but that should be fixed). Site 12 is directly across from Dump Station which has water for flushing tanks. Overall, I found many commercial camps in Florida far, far worse than this one despite costs of $110.00 per night. Don't worry about this camp: it is more than acceptable despite lack of sewers (my only complaint) which isn't really an issue since the showers are excellent and clean. One guy here now has been here 8 months without sewers, but no issues for him (he's on a 2year deployment to Scott); no trashy sites common among homesteaders. Complainers will always complain about something, but this camp is fine.

My wife, two girls, and I used SAFB FAMCAMP as a launch pad to visit St. Louis for our spring break trip. The campground is clean and well maintained with paved roads and campsites in the half we stayed in. There's plenty of room for the kids to run around or bicycle. The laundry and bathhouse was exceptionally clean, but had no hot water while we where there. There are no campsite sewer connections, but the dumpsite is available near the bathhouse. We were able to reserve site 20 for our stay. It's the only 50 amp site, though this time of year that's not really necessary for A/C purposes. It's also the only site long enough to accommodate our 41' 5er and TV. The recycle containers for glass and plastic are nearby, but the dumpsters were about 150 meters away. I suspect this offset is a very good thing in the summer months. We spent every day in St. Louis, so didn't use the on base facilities much. The BX and commissary are huge though. One great feature we did use is a Metrolink station right next to the installation to catch the train into town. You park on base and access the station with your ID card from a kiosk. One last detail, when approaching the main gate, the signs direct oversize vehicles to the right lane. That means the far right lane next to the curb. Just pull up to the stantions and wait. A guard (USAF) will come out in a few minutes and check IDs, give directions, etc.., then remove the stantions and allow you to enter. Overall, a great stay!

Perfect for stop over while passing through the area. My particular site (20) was level on a concrete pad, grass had just been cut. The camp was clean, with shady trees. Nice walking trails for long walks. The bathhouse was modern and was in clean condition. Coin operated washing machines and dryers, ($1.00 wash). No sewer at sites but a good dump station behind the bathhouse. Good exchange on base for shopping and gas is cheaper on base. Very quiet area, not much jet noise. Power was stable, water pressure was good. Weak cell reception, good OTA TV signal.

I really enjoyed my visit here. As others have said the sites are small and close together, but for my 25-foot RV it was fine. Restrooms and showers were well stocked and clean during my stay, and the electric pedestal at my campsite worked flawlessly. I was assigned site #14 and found the pad to be significantly out of level. It took every single one of my lego-style leveling blocks under the front tires, 9-inches of lift under each front tire) to even approach getting the coach level. There also appeared to be substantial amount of standing water in the grassy common areas of the FAMCAMP, so I am assuming it had rained a lot before my arrival. During my three rain-free days at the FAMCAMP the standing water did not appear to recede much, so perhaps there is a more serious drainage issue at play.

Quiet park on the far side of the base. Very little aircraft generation so it was quiet. Reveille (0600) and Taps (2200) made more noise than anything. I love the solemn sound of Taps. The 30 amp site we had was fine. I had a site number 22. It was out in the open. If I had it to do over, I might opt for site #4. It is under the trees, shady, and looked like it would be long enough for my 39' 5er. I am guessing it has water and 30 amp. I didn't walk thru it. Takes about 10 minutes to get from the main gate to the CG. No wi-fi and it is unlikely the CG will ever get it. The Ed Center (next to ITT and BK) has free wi-fi if you really need it. If you fish, take your pole. The CG is across an open field from the base lakes. The contractor who was cutting the grass could stay a bit further from RVs when mowing, but that is the only negative I can think of. Overall, a good CG and great price.

I would not call this Famcamp Big Rig friendly as most if not all sites are short and narrow. There are no camp host and all actions are controlled at outdoor rec. Doubt we'll return.

We travel a great deal (7-9 month each year) and try to stay on military installations most of the time. So we have seen more than 40 FamCamps. This one maybe one of the worst. This FamCamp is easy enough to get to off I-64 and even on Scott AFB. From there, things were below average. As others have noted, sites are graveled (often short) and shower/restroom are just short of nasty. Full hooks are for Water and Electric ONLY - no sewer. As noted the water pressure was a bit lacking. PS: Fixtures in restroom/showers are stainless steel - never seen it before.

Top tip; as stated in previous postings STAY TO THE FAR RIGHT LANE when entering the gate. There are lack of direction signs to the FAMCAMP. Just remember left at first traffic light. Sites were nice and bathhouse clean. There is a fitness path that circles around the airfield. You can ride your bike to the main portion of the base without being on the road. Excellent PX and commissary. A choice between two fitness centers. WIFI available at Education Center. In striking range of St. Louis.

Nice enough famcamp. We stayed in a 40' 5th wheel in site #22. Site was back in with water/50 amp electric. No problems backing in and nice shade trees on back of site. RV dump over in other part of famcamp in the trees. Has bath house and laundry. Nice stop for a few days. Nice base with big bx/commissary.

We were here for 3 days and had a decent experience overall. We were put in the newer section with asphalt pads, water and 30 amp power. The grounds were high with grass and it appeared to be quite a while since the campsites were policed, most of the grills were crooked or falling over and filthy. Bathroom was clean and well stocked with metal toilets and a push button in shower that would give you 3 minutes of water at a time. Base had good commissary and BX as well as a nice asphalt track/bike trail that went all around the base. The FamCamp book said go in the commercial gate, DO NOT GO IN THE COMMERCIAL GATE. They no longer allow RVs to go through that gate, you must use one of the main gates, they are not blocked in any way, so easy to get through. Day trips to St Louis are just a 30 Minute ride and worth the trip. I would recommend staying here but stay in the gravel area of the CG, lots of shade and close to bathroom. Overall we had a good experience at this CG, with a little more attention to detail this could be among one of the better FamCamps.
