Do not understand any good ratings. We have traveled the country for 2 years and visited many fam camps. This was by far the worst yet. Run down in disrepair and in a very bad local environment. It was not on the installation and accessible to anyone that wanted to come in. They raised the rates to $50 a night, (unbelievable)! I recommend you avoid.

This campground haa been one of our favorite places to stop over the years. Mike is still here and is most gracious and helpful. The parking site that was allotted to us in the reservation was not the best, so Mike checked others and found one that had become available. It was perfect for what we needed. He gladly filled my propane tanks, even though I could tell he was busy with other important things to do. I appreciate his help and friendliness. Nevertheless, we may not be in such a hurry to return in the future. They have doubled the rates to $50 per night - twice the $25 of before June. Why? And what are they going to do with that extra money? What kind of services and benefits will the campers now see that was not there before? I worry this rate increase will keep folks like us away and the campground will, in the end, not get a great deal more in revenue that they claim they need. The shrubbery, wiped out by the Hurricane, is growing back nicely. But still you don't get the privacy we used to get in years past. It will take a few more years. This video shows what it used to be. https://www.militarycampgrounds.us/florida/videos?m=zd66H Wifi is still not available. It is impossible to understand why. It was available in 2009 in the nice Community Center where campers would go to connect, visit with other campers, and socialize. A very comfortable setting. In later years, they tried site-wide wifi. That was good too. The Navy has been doing this for years. Suddenly, the benefit of wifi was terminated without explanation. Now the rate has been increased an extra $25 per day without installing a wifi service that would make camping there more comfortable. We stayed 4 nights ($200). Since it was Memorial Day weekend, we did not want to be on road without having some other place to stay. And so, we paid the price. We are not sure when and if we will return. I will certainly be looking to the reviews of other campers here to see how things have improved.

We loved the campground. The loop by the water has the biggest sites (near the cabins), there are only a few pull-through ones there. Not a lot of shade trees, but we wanted the sun to warm us up (winter time). There is NO WiFi nor do they still have internet rental equipment as stated on this site. We were able to park our truck and car at site no problem. Found in the community center: The laundry room has plenty of washers and dryers at the cost of 1.50 each, restrooms with showers, full kitchen you can utilize, refrigerator that you can put some things in (must put your name on items), but seems long termers have filled it, pool table, ping pong table, load of videos, books and board games. I was pleasantly surprised that there was not one single dog that non-stop barked. Each site has cable, just make sure you turn your antenna off. The aircraft, well it is an operational AF base and as a former jet mech, I loved knowing I didn't have to work on them. They were flying the F-22s and the F-16 targeting drones (orange tails are remotely flown). PCB is about 20 minutes away and the Pier has many shops. Patches bar has the BEST bloody marys in town and TVs to watch games.

We stayed here one night on our way to Disney World and had a great experience. We weren’t planning to stop, but my husband was tired and the other nearby RV parks on military installations were reservations only and seemed pretty adamant about this. It was pretty late when we decided to pull over and were so happy to to find a space here. We made sure to not leave before the office opened in the morning so we could pay for the night and the office staff were very kind and friendly. We will definitely stay here again!

We stayed two nights en route back to Tampa from Texas. We were in the overflow which provided full hook ups. However, the site was extremely tight. It was a pull through but our slides barely made it with the other big rigs next to us. The way it is situated doesn't make sense but I was grateful for full hook ups. Still, the jets flying overhead were extremely loud and the kicker was the speaker. The speaker was located right on top of us and reveille, taps etc was deafening. Panama City is a beautiful town. I hope to be back but probably at a different campground.

They are still not taking reservations and the campground is full of mostly civilian construction workers at this time. If you are Active Duty they will try to fit you into the overflow area for a night or two. The whole area still has a lot of recovery to do and it will be a few years before it is back to anywhere close to normal.

The famcamp is recovering from the hurricane over a year ago. We came thru here last Mar 2019 and the campground had recently opened to campers again. This year the famcamp was full with parking in overflow only. There are still non military contractors filling camping sites full time. Good news is the overflow now has FHU's. There is no WIFI since the Hurricane but the grounds have been cleaned up and new sprouts are growing on the remaining trees. We would stay here again.

We stayed two nights. Mike in the office was very accommodating when I called to make reservations. We wanted to see the effects of the Hurricane Michael last fall. The base, town, and campground are still in poor shape visually. This was once our most favorite campground. The base had over 850+ base housing that was totally destroyed. Campground is full with essential personnel who have to be here but cannot get suitable housing. The pictures show how the trees and vegetation has been blown away. BX,commissary, gym are open. Many buildings need to be repaired. On base, the boardwalk to the beach is gone and all buildings are still damaged. At the campground, the community center survived very well, but the old crowd that used to be there to play games and visit are gone. Wifi is not available. This has been a perennial problem for over 8 years, that I know of. Apparently, mission requirements prevent them from being able to set up camp-wide wifi like the Navy (and some AF campgrounds) are able to do. Back in the day they had internet only in the community center -- a better option than having none at all. The price, $25/night, is high, considering what you get. But maybe they need the funds to begin to rebuild and beautify this campground. Nature will take a lot of time to grow back. Two nights was enough time for us on this trip.

On 9 Oct 2018 Hurricane Michael landed about 6 miles from the Air Force Base. CAT 4, 155 MPH. At the Airfield it was holding at a steady 129 mph. 4th most powerful hurricane to hit the U.S. 5 months later we pulled into the campground and could not be leave what we saw. Over 50 miles out we started to see the snapped trees and a little later the blue tarps. Ground zero there are concrete block buildings with holes 8 ft off the ground that a car could drive thru. PANAMA CITY STRONG is the motto down here. The campground was known as to having so many trees that you would never be able to use you Dish TV. Not anymore as you can see by the pictures. These people are all going to Heaven because they have been to Hell and made it back. GOD BLESS THEM. Camp is open, only here for 2 days. looks like it is half full. It is so sad to see all the trees gone.

After hurricane Michael came through, once they had the debris cleaned up, it was only open to active duty and DoD contractors working on base. Per management As of February 25 “The Tyndall Fam Camp will now accept retired military based on availability. We do not accept reservations. Rotation every 90 days is still required. Site fees are 525.00 for 30 days for all sites. Please call the office at 850-283-2798 to check availability a few days before you arrive.” Unfortunately it bears little resemblance aesthetically to the original rv park Most of the vegetation is gone and most trees cut back because of damage. Everything was bulldozed over to the far edge of the park. So the sites are barren but otherwise In good shape with most sites having good distance between. The base took a pretty good hit and lost several buildings. The commissary and exchange are open. Panama City is still a disaster area however Walmart and most of the franchise stores are up and running. Ten miles west, Panama City Beach suffered little damage and it’s business as usual from there west.

Could not say more. VERY well run campsite. Clean, easy to navigate, staff and host are very hospitable and helpful. “Mike” in the office volunteered to go home on his lunch break and get a tool that I needed to borrow. Amazing. Kudos to all here. Yes, the flight ops make some occasional noise, no kidding, it’s an Air Force Base, they have aircraft that fly.........imagine that! We WILL return. Keep up the great work.

We were here in April of 2017 and again November 29 & 30, 2017. Raptor Ranch is a nice park with friendly people. Our complaint about it is the sand/dust generated by the sandy roads in the park. The sites are nicely separated - most by trees and bushes with plenty of elbow room. You have to be okay with flight ops. The base executes flights almost all day long during the week and the jets are low flying over the park. It doesn't bother us but some people are really bothered by the loud noise. If it wasn't for the sand and dust we would consider this park top notch.

This famcamp is about as easy to find as they come. It's right on Highway 98 altho it sets back enough and has enough trees that we never heard any traffic noise. We did hear some jets but they weren't loud. But this is an USAF installation. Expect jets. Located off base. When we called for reservations they were very accommodating and helpful. Check in was friendly, quick, and simple. They were ready for us. We had a very nice pull thru site. This place is larger than it looks when first pulling in. Lots of sites and all are spaced far enough apart where you aren't crammed in close to each other. Kind of a nice state park feel. Nearly all sites are shaded. If you're in the PCB area this is the place to stay.

My wife, retired Army, called and spoke with Mike to make our reservations, it was no problem. He handled our request professionally and quickly. We arrived at Raptor Ranch Fam Camp on Tyndall AFB, Sunday afternoon and left 8 days later on Monday. It was our first visit to the area. the campground is easily accessed directly off of Florida RT98. You do not need to go through any security gate, you just drive into the park entrance, the registration office is immediately on your left. We liked our stay at Tyndall, the occasional F-22 Raptor was entertaining and we learned you could go down near the flight line and watch them land and take-off. We tried twice, each time we drove over the end of the runway, they would inexplicably stop, oh well, maybe next time. The base had an adequate Exchange and Commissary about 2 miles away which required you to go onto the base. There is a nature trail within the campground which was a very nice short walk through the wooded area surrounding the campground. While there we visited the downtown historic district of Panama City and took the self-guided walking tour. It was unremarkable. We also decided to visit the Bear Creek Feline Center, just north of Panama City, which was very educational and enjoyable.

We called and planned to make resvation but Mike seemed more interested that I a female could be 100% DAV...asked my husband twice. After my husband stated I was 100% DAV. We have stayed at many military campgrounds and never had this happen before. Seems some training is needed .....will pass by and go to MacDill. After all these years still face this.

We stayed at Raptor Ranch for the three days noted and enjoyed our time there. Campground has lots of shade which creates privacy between sites. Office staff very friendly and quite helpful for all our needs. Roads are gravel and the sites have concrete pads with full hookups. Wi-Fi not working yet throughout the park but is scheduled. Showers and bathrooms were very clean. Recreation center is nice with a large HDTV and lounge chairs available. Appears to be lots of social activity at various times. Most sites are back-in with just a few pull through sites available. Plenty of room to disconnect toad from RV. Commissary, Gas Station and BX are located about two miles from campground inside main gate. We would return to stay again.

My wife had surgery Nov 16, 2015. We reserved a site for Nov 15 thru Nov 22, then extended it for 5 days making us depart on Nov 27th. We learned that the site was reserved for someone else beginning Nov 26, That was a very critical time as then we had to vacate the site, and I had to transfer my wife to a rehab hospital at the same time. I was given the opportunity to go to another site, but it still required time that I really did not have. The site should not have been rented out from under us until it was time for us to leave. there are still people that are homesteading in violation of the campground rules. There is still no Wi-Fi available, not even in the social hall even though there has been a price increase under the pretense of getting Wi-Fi 3 times, from $360 per month to $500 per month. I was very dissatisfied with the management of this campground. I use to visit this campground regularly, but as of late it has really gone down hill, from management to its appeal, and I will never visit it again.

The Tyndall "Raptor Ranch" campground is making and has made many improvements over the past year and into 2015. The cabins have undergone renovations with new kitchen cabinets, new flooring, new bedroom sets, new bathroom vanities and refurbished furniture. The Gazebo has an additional 30 foot pole barn on the side for campers to enjoy. And the "Big Dig" project should be completed by 01 Oct 2015. This will give the campground all full service sites with improvements to the pads as well. FSS has also begun the process of doing a contract to have Mediacom install internet service for all the sites including overflow. This project will not begin until the construction is complete, so no estimated time for the Wi-Fi as yet, but it is coming! Hoping to see you in the Fall for the fun, festivities and friendships, new & old!

We just attended the Thanksgiving Dinner, organized and put on by Cathy Krostag / Camp Recreation Staff / and it was fabulous. The food was outstanding /gourmet and the whole evening was awesome. We have found that this facility is about the very best we have ever stayed and the director, Samantha Long and her hosts Barbara Johnson & Karen Pauly are friendly, professional and impressively competent. They all have an incredibly difficult job, keeping everybody happy and engaged, and fill that requirement perfectly. There are special events in the club house every day of the week and if you sit in your RV, its not for the lack of activities offered at this place. I feel like I am staying in a spa and love this place. My only dislike of this AFB is the lack of a golf course that was allowed to go to seed and disgracefully overgrown. You don't find that kind of neglect at the FamCamp, where the entire staff continue to do outstanding work for their campers.

A very nice FamCamp, Jet noise is a little much but that is to be excepted at an Air Base. Camp itself is set up very nice and in a great setting. The sights a extremely large and very privet, I was very impressed. The staff are friendly and helpful when you need them. Air Police Security patrols the park on a regular basis which is nice. The base itself has everything you might need or want. I will be back if I am in the area again and will recommend it to all Vets I encounter on the road.
