Spent a few days exploring the base and FamCamp. We originally paid for two nights, but decided to extend another 3 nights. It is a "no-frills" campground, but is great for this purpose. The price is very reasonable and even includes free WiFi. WiFi worked fine for us. The restrooms are old and could be updated with paint and new fixtures, but they were clean. There was no "mold" in them. To keep the cost of the RV sites as low as possible, money isn't wasted on trying to landscape and maintain a fancy RV resort. However, the grounds are kept up and mowed on a regular basis. Fairchild AFB is a large base and has all the facilities you would expect. There's a large commissary and Exchange, gym and swimming pool, library, gas station (no diesel), hospital, and much more. We were there over a weekend, so there wasn't any jet noise, but jet fighters are not the main mission here. The hosts were fantastic - very friendly and knowledgeable. Outdoor Recreation has the largest selection of rentals that I've seen. There were plenty of trips and activities planned. With a bit of planning, this location would make for a wonderful family vacation. When in the area, we would 100% stay here again.

All RVs have to use the Rambo Gate and will be searched. SFS were very nice and just wanted to look inside to make sure there wasn't anybody inside. They didn't even ask us to put out our slides, which we would've gladly done had they needed us to. They are required to search all vehicles at this gate and are being monitored to ensure they do their job. It's really not a big deal at all and we were done in less than 5 minutes. The FamCamp is in a nice location away from traffic noise. There was some aircraft noise, but we like that, it's an Air Force base afterall. The camp host is the best we've ever met at any campground (military or civilian) in our 1.5 years of fulltiming. He walked out and met us before we even stopped, was full of information, gave us several local flyers and books, told us all about the local area, processed our credit card payment, and stamped our frequent camper book. The wifi worked great, I had good AT&T cell phone reception, and we picked up 36 channels on TV. This is a gem in the FamCamp system.

Security on this base is tight. They do 100% ID check and they will search your rig. Obviously the reason for this is to protect the soldiers on the base and the base itself, I have no problem with it. Hopefully, you don't have a problem with it either. This is not a resort by any stretch but it is a fine place to hang your hat while visiting the Spokane area or even passing through. The park is quiet and clean - even though it is very close to the tarmac. Only once in 12 days did we experience noise from fighter jets. The sites are level and the hookups are convenient. Most sites are very close together but there are a few that have a little more space between them. We were lucky enough to get one that had some elbow room and it was very comfortable. This would be a 'pleasing to look at' campground if they had any rain to make the grass green. But, it is so painfully dry that what grass there would be is dead giving the campground a neglected look. It is NOT neglected. The hosts seem to be very active within the campground by checking on cleanliness of the laundry, bathrooms, the sites as people left, etc. We enjoyed our stay here and would go back again.

We stay here for a few days every year to visit family in the area. Yes, very nice camp hostess. Very adequate facilities. My annoyance with this park, and many others in the system are the squatters. RV parks are intended for folks who are mobile, not for someone who wants to squat in the same spot for the entire season. We are parked next to a rig that is at least 30 years old, albeit fairly well maintained, but it is obvious they have been here for a long time considering all the stuff that is sitting outside such as large plasti storage pieces. It looks like Sanford and Son lives there. There is lots of green grass, except at our site where a large mat killed it. The hostess commented that he had been here for three months and she wasn't going to ask him to remove his mat! NO ONE SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO STAY FOR AN INDEFINITE PERIOD OF TIME - THAT IS DEFEATING THE PURPOSE OF THE PARK!!!!

Really nice FamCamp with a very nice, helpful host couple. I have 4 minor negatives; 1., no good place to park while registering. How about CE smooth out an area in the dirt to the right of the hosts' site? Or maybe put down some gravel or asphalt to make a spot off the loop road. 2., water pressure was a meager 30 psi. 3., wifi is slow even with strong signal strength, 4., no fenced, grassy area for an off-leash dog run. Hill AFB FamCamp has a nice one with grass and trees. Now to the good stuff...everything else. Quiet park with decent spacing between sites, great auto hobby shop, good DFAC (retirees can eat there), even the Defenders are friendly! For you non-AF types, Defenders are what we affectionately call Security Forces personnel. One section of the FamCamp has trees. If you use satellite, you may not want that section. Sites look to be about 55' long. There is plenty of overflow parking across the loop road behind your site if needed for your tow vehicle or towed (toad) vehicle. No diesel at the base gas station, but there is a gas station a mile or 2 miles east of the base that has diesel. Grand Cooley Dam is about an hour west. Too bad the AF doesn't have a competition for FamCamps like they do DFACs. This place would be a strong contender.

We spent a week at this nice Famcamp. Entering the Rambo Gate your RV and car will be searched, either by a guard accompanying you or in some cases (we've had it both ways), you'll be asked to open up all the doors and go inside a holding area while the search is conducted. After that it's an easy drive to the Famcamp. On our visit, the host was in site #1 instead of #25, but it doesn't make much difference since they don't assign sites and can't collect money. So find a site, set up, then proceed to Outdoor Rec and sign in and pay. Interior road are paved, but sites are gravel and fairly level. The old section of the park has mature trees and the bathroom/laundry. Sites there are not always consistent in their distance apart - some are widely spaced, other right on top of another. Hookups are convenient and worked well, and the park WiFi worked well until the evening when obvious streaming was taking place. Verizon cell/data was good. No cable, but plenty of OTA channels and most sites provide a clear shot at the TV satellites. The laundry is inexpensive ($.50/load), but there are only two each washers/dryers and during our visit one set was out of service. Restrooms were immaculate. The normal amount of aircraft noise, but the real annoyance are the trains that run continually just West of the base. A bit far from Spokane, but Airway Heights has plenty of shopping and also two casinos. Overall, a good place to stay awhile at a very reasonable cost.

The only pros that non-emotionally come to mind is that it is $25 a day, the camphost/ODR staff are friendly, and the security of an installation. This location is one of the most poorly maintained famcamps I have stayed. The sites are close together; it is difficult to navigate the roads as they are narrow and the trees make it more complicated for larger RVs. The grass really isn't grass but instead dried shrubbery mixed with dirt, weeds, and thorns; not a great place for pets. This place is not even very close to Spokane, Coeur D'Alene, or any other attractive location I can think of unless you consider the Commissary a fun location. Need less to say, I will stay off base next time I return to this area as Liberty Lake, WA, CDA and Hayden, ID areas have much more attractive RV parks. The only reason I would even consider staying here again is if I were required to temporarily work on base. Very disappointing.

As you pull in to Family Campground, there is a sign on the left that says, Stop and check in with the host. I had been driving all day and was tired and didn't see the sign, I was driving the speed limit. I picked a spot and planned to speak to the host as it was Sunday. After I parked, I saw a man at the entrance looking at me, I waved at him, and he waved for me to come up to his location. I drove my fully self contained 2019 class B Promaster Motorhome to his location and stopped, put on my mask per the COVID mandate, he had no mask on. He examined my RV and said in an angry and aggressive tone of voice, "you're supposed to stop here and check-in!" His body language was threatening. I said, "I didn't know." He said, "the sign is right there, and you blew right by it!!" >:( I said in a defensive and guarded tone, "I have been driving all day and am tired, I didn't see the sign." : ( He looked at my RV again and said, "the bathrooms and showers are not available, and you have to have hookups!" I said, "I am fully self-contained and don't need hookups, and have black water and grey water holding tanks." He said, "you have a toilet in there!?" I said, "Yes, I am fully self-contained." In a rude tone of voice, he said, "Park on the side of the road and get out and sit down on the bench!" >:( I parked, got out, and sat down on the bench with my mask on per COVID mandate, he never put a mask on the entire time we conversed. He asked me how many days I would be staying!? I said, "4 nights." He told me the basics for getting signed in on Monday and where to go, gave me the paperwork. He finished up, I got up and left - without - thanking him. I don't think he deserved any recognition or thanks for anything because of how he treated me. I'm a survivor of Military Sexual Trauma and feel unsafe and guarded here. I don't trust him and worry about the staff at the center where I am going to pay for my space is going to have a similar attitude. I can't just leave as I have been driving all day and have nowhere to go. I may edit this review and add how they treat me. He is not an approachable man, and I was not mean to him. I strive to be approachable and kind in my conversations. I made an effort to disarm the situation, but he continued to be aggressive and rude. I don't think this campground is friendly and safe and will debate if I am going to stay more than one night. I don't think it's worth the long drive here to stay for any period. I wish to note: after I parked near the host site and was hooking up my electrical, a truck with a 5th wheel pulled in without stopping. The host didn't react the same way towards them as he did towards me. The truck and 5th wheel parked, the occupants went to speak to the host. I didn't hear any brash words in any way from the camp host while they had a discussion. I have been to other campgrounds on other military bases and treated with respect from the hosts, unlike this campground host.

We liked FAFB Famcamp and will be back again. Brenda does a great job of welcoming you into the park and it is very smoothly run. Can't beat the value at $17/night. I like the ability to wash the RV once while at the RV campground. We found the base to be great. For satellite TV, you may want to pick a site without the trees. That was not a problem since there were plenty.

This was just a two night stop for us between destination campgrounds. It was in the right location and was a good value at $25 per night. We did not use any of the base facilities or the campground restrooms or laundry facilities. The camp hosts site Site 25 were friendly, helpful and efficient. I paid with a credit card so had to go to Outdoor Rec. The Outdoor Rec representative was again, friendly, helpful and efficient. The site was level and all the utilities worked. We were able to get our Sat dish in as we were in the more open section. The campground was full both nights. Our Verizon cell service was good. As others have mentioned, the grass is not attractive and the sites are close. The grass is consistent with how difficult it is to grow grass in that area of the country.

This is a very nice Famcamp. The host is extremely friendly and helpful. Seemed to be always working around doing maintenance. Spaces 25-30 tend to be a bit close, others more spacious, but tolerable. First two rows are best for rooftop satellite. Other section has numerous trees. As suggested before, called security and was told to go to Rambo gate. Will definitely come back. Thank you, Duane.

Daily rate is now $25. I don't know what they're doing with the extra $$, but they're not spending it on irrigation. We've been coming to this campground on and off for nearly 10 years, and have never seen a single blade of green grass, except in front of the host's site. We will probably stay here again if in the Spokane area, but only due to price.

First I want to tell you that the camp host is doing everything to improve the stay of the FamCamp. He's out every day cutting grass, watering, trimming and cleaning the facilities, a real hard worker. They have some great ideas to help improve the area. I hope that they stay for years to come. All sites are gravel but level, wifi is good throughout the CG, wash rooms and laundry is very clean. I called in advance to see if there was availability and the host told me to be sure to use "Rambo gate" if you have a rig larger than 40' (located on Rambo rd, 1/2 mile before main gate L turn),note: gate closes at 1800 weekdays. You will have to have a vehicle inspection, nothing unusual. GPS brought us directly to FamCamp. Camp host gave us a book of all events that are happening on post for the month plus recommendations for local dinning.... Good stay, I wish them a lot of luck to bring this place to a 5 star. If their ideas come through it will make the best FamCamp of the west!!

We spent the Labor Day holiday here and the famcamp was full. Great host and ODR staff were very helpful. The park could use some tree limb trimming but site were level and good utilities. Initial base check-in is through with an inspection at the Rambo gate but all is fair with base security concerns. Will definitely be back.

My husband is a mgr @ a USN RV park, (which is an outstanding park, so I know how parks should look. This is your basic, no frills package. Cement block buildings for showers, mold all around floors in the 2 shower stalls in women’s bathrooms, toilet stalls have the floor molding coming loose. Men’s bathroom shower stalls had peeling paint. These aren’t expensive or complicated repairs. If fixed for next season, it will be fine. I was just thrilled to have shower curtains, since Mtn. Home AFB, has no privacy @ all. Overall if you stay in your RV & don’t use the bathrooms, you’re great. Nice sidewalks around housing & friendly host.
