Pros and Cons to this RV/campground - CONS:There is no privacy hedge/fence that separates the north side of campground from the road - if you like an alarm clock of cadence calling marching students at 7 am you are close enough to count their footsteps; WiFi is non-exsistant except in office/day room; no change machine or laundry supplies in laundry rooms; you'll be lucky if you get a 'good' spot - it's pretty common to see 'long termers' that have the 'prime' locations, that are active duty that are working here on the base or stationed here. There is NO reservations, but when you come in, you'll see spots that have 'occupied' cones at them that go unused for days. Not sure how that works with a NO reservation policy. Would be nice to have a 'walk over' spot to the beach in the middle of the campground vice only one at either end. Privacy walls in new women's shower area would be nice. PROS: Beach access, price, clean versatile pads, if you want to move pads, there is no problems or fuss, some shaded spots and grass (south side only), easy check in, $1 washers and dryers, pet friendly campground and beach. Overall, this is a good place to use and the staff we've encountered have been very pleasant, I just like to point out things that we have noticed that 'could be a deterrent to some campers'.

This is one of our favorites. The facility is great and very well run. We camped in the new section this time and liked it. We will be back. The walk along the beach and the sound of the waves each day is worth it all. But the people in the office make our stay great from the start. Especially Angelia. She is very conscientious and friendly and a real professional. She should be commended and she is an example to others. The maintenance on the campground is very good and the mark of a well run facility. I liked the fact they had an MWR sponsored cooked out on Saturday before Halloween. Just another 'nice touch' at a place we will return to. One of the Navy's best campgrounds!

A great bargain for the location. All sites are concrete pads and mostly level. Campground is kept very clean and sites are not cluttered with personal affects. We have been to several Military campgrounds where the long term residents have all of their things scattered at the site. Two sections, North and South, to this campground. The south end costs a little more, I'm guessing due to the many trees located throughout. No shade in the North section. There is a very convenient beach access in the South end. North end beach access is a short walk thru a parking lot. Lots of things to do in the area off base. Just found out they have changed the reservation policy here. Retirees can no longer make reservations a year out, now 6 months. We will be back.

Nice park with very short walk to sand/ocean area. Showers need to be updated. Some were out of order so not enough for full capacity of campers. Laundry room had plenty of dryers but could use a few more wash machines. Park grounds were very clean. Looks like there are quite a few trailers that stay there for a long time. On one end are trees and on the other you have full sun. Enjoyed ample room on campsite with full hookups. Staff are great people. Will return.

We stayed at SEA MIST 2-9 August 14 & had a GREAT time! The Staff was GREAT, check-in was a breeze, site was level with all services working fine! Just a short drive to VA BEACH & NORFOLK - just 10 minute drive over to Oceana with it's huge NEX & commissary. The beach is just a 5 minute walk from the RV sites.

We love this campground and have stayed here many times. Having said that there are a couple of things they should address. The secret is out. It is a popular location and it is getting harder to book a reservation. One thing they could do is reduce the number of homesteaders. Over 50% of the campers here are long term. Some have been here for years. Yes --years! Another thing is that maintenance seems to have tapered off a bit since the last time we were here but it is still a nice location. Sites are concrete and level. It is beginning to show its age and is in need of a little paint on the new office, laundry and shower building. Railings are peeling. Its still a nice facility but in need of some paint. The fencing near the sand dunes needs to be replaced.

North campground is $25/night. It doesn't have any trees or shade. South end $35. All sites are concrete pad. There are several double sites. Active duty can reserve a year in advance. Beach is beautiful. Plenty to do all around Virginia Beach. Staff was excellent.

Terrific campground, just a sand dune from the beach. Staff is terrific, very friendly and helpful. They keep the place up very well. Most actually RV there too. Bath houses are clean and quite functional. Laundromat is nice, has 2 washers and 4 dryers, 1.00 each per load. There are two areas, one is more wide open, the other has a lot of trees. Internet is very good. It is a training base and the RV park is located next to one of the main instructional buildings so there are troops marching quite a bit but we loved that! We intended to only stay 30 days but loved the park, base and location so much we extended. Don't hesitate to stay here, you'll love it! Note: there is construction at the main gate, expected to take about 1 year, kind of a pain but they are very accommodating when you have your rig. It it coming along quite nicely and quicker than we expected.

Really nice campground right next to beach. Sites are concrete, large and shaded. Boardwalk over to the beach from camp, picnic shelter available. Sites are all back in and it appears that they are expanding with another (looks like) about 24 more sites. Easy to get to campground from gate, just go in and take the second right. Definitely worth the price.

This was our 2nd RV campground ever and we like this place very much! We made the right choice staying here and got lucky to get 2 days available spot until September of 2021 because the campsite was full the whole time we were there. We picked site #51 in the south side that is very close to amenities, public restrooms (with door code) and pavilion are very clean. Sites are all in level concrete pads with picnic tables but no fire ring and BBQ pit that I notice in them but they have them in the pavilion area. Did not use campground WiFi but my T-Mobile phone hot spot worked great for my fire TV. We were next to a family with a large 5th wheel and they were very nice, I think the service member is Station there. I can't tell the difference between homesteaders and weekenders but I did not see any clutter or any unsightly campsite while we were there. Walk to the beach with my wife until sunset was an unforgettable experience on my birthday. Two tips for the newcomer, watch out for the very low laying branches on the south side, do drive 5 MPH because the road is very narrow and there are many kids playing around even though they are all with adult supervision. VA beach is only 15 minutes away and there are many Filipino restaurants nearby. The host is extremely nice and very helpful.

Hookups 20/30/50 amp, water, sewer, picnic table. Had site 36 which was a long back in concrete pad. There are two sections of sites, sites in new area by office have zero shade. There are at least four double sites. No cable or WIFI available, we were told there was WIFI by the gym and bowling alley but we were unable to hook up. Had 9 channels on TV ant. and our Sprint cell service was OK. Needed code to get into bath houses, the one by office was new and much nicer than the older section. Exchange, subway, bowling alley and beach all in walking distance. Laundry in each bath area $1.00 per load. Virginia beach and boardwalk just 10 miles away. Nice park with lots to do in the area, I would recommend a stop here if in the area.

A great place to take the family to the beach. We stayed for a week. Great full hook up sites that are level and clean. The old section has more shade, the new section is in the open. Sites are still first-come, as they don't assign a specific site during your reservation. Of note, the main gate has concrete barriers in the entryway if you plan to arrive after 1630 or on the weekends. Call ahead to ensure the barriers can/will be moved, especially if you have a large trailer or RV. We have stayed here twice now and will come back again.

Excellent location if you like the ocean. Directions on website are dead on to main gate and close to famcamp. Great facilities and all sites FHU's, paved roads and concrete sites. Previous reviews say it all - maintenance and upkeep excellent, several washers and dryers (all working) and friendly office staff. Great value for the famcamp and lots of things to do in the area. We will stay here again.

Enjoyed our stay. Using the photos from this website, I deliberately picked the north section due to fewer trees for easier satellite reception. No problems there (driving through the more "scenic" south section, I see where some sites might have blocked our reception). Couldn't see the ocean or hear it much, nevertheless we liked being just a walk over the dunes. Would have been nice to get a better briefing upon checking in as to where to access the pet friendly beach. Liked that they let you pick your site from the available ones. No BBQ grill at our site so when I asked, was told there was some at the pavillion next to the office that we were welcome to use. However, these were gas operated, not bring your own brickets and they were all out of propane. Maintenance was doing some repair or expansion to the office building and we heard the hammering start around 0730, but didn't bother us much. Commissary, Class 6 and gas all within easy drive. Hope to return some day!

K.E. left this review using the Directory software: - This is located on the annex portion of the main NAS. It's a couple miles away. Annex does have an exchange with basic items and sundries. Main exchange and commissary are about 5 miles away. We initially planned on staying four nights, but extended without any problem. Sea Mist was a fantastic stay for us. When we checked in, we were given a number of options regarding available sites. We chose one in the newer section and next to the office complex. All sites have large concrete slabs. The main building has the laundry and showers along with a very nice lounge with cable TV. Staff was very friendly and accomodating. During our stay, there was quite a bit of flying activities which was a bit noisy, especially one evening when they were flying until 9pm....one cool thing was being able to watch (from the beach) the launching of a few drones. Would highly recommend this and would certainly stay there again.

My go-to place for a stay-cation in Hampton Roads. Although the older site has better beach access, the new site has its own charm and allure. While I wish there were more trees and easier beach access on the "new" side, each site has ample room and you're not so close to your neighbors. It's well kept and the caretakers/staff have an obvious pride for their facility. The bathroom and shower facilities are exceptionally clean. There is an outdoor pavilion with a gas grill for group use. It's a first come, first served for the sites and check in is at noon, not 3 (email confirmation will say 3 because it's a standardized MWR response). I think it stays looking so nice because the visitors actively participate in keeping the site looking so good.

Excellent place to stay (the best of our entire trip) Mike called us to ask what time we would be coming in because he didn't want to miss us if he went to lunch. Beautiful grounds with the ocean steps away. Large concrete pads with the best hook ups I've seen. Looking forward to returning. THANKS!
