Great RV park that is out of the way of everyone tucked into a corner of the base with big sites and a great amount of trees between them. No wifi or cable that I could tell which is a good thing for me but, then again, it is not all about me. The staff and our camping neighbors were all great. The gym is small but worthwhile and there is a small snack bar across the street from the gym in the same building that the MWR is located that is open a few days a week. The shopette is closed Sundays but their fuel is available 24/7 with a credit card and they have diesel! The base is close to the local Revolutionary War sites which were our goal and we would absolutely go to this park again.

Stayed two months, visiting family (Jan-Mar 2023). Close to everything, great dining, historical sites. Sites are all back in, 30-50 elec, water and sewer. LOTS of dogs, most well behaved. Ran into deer while walking dogs after dark. No wifi in RV park, was told it was being "worked on". No off leash dog park, although there are several areas that would be available. Security provided; you will see Navy Police driving through frequently. Armed guards at the gate, not a whole lot of visible activity on the base. Gas station sells liquor, snacks, ice, firewood. No mess facility on base. Love it here; lots of space between sites.

The campground at Cheatham Annex about 30 minutes from Langley is really nice and central to the historic triangle of Williamsburg, Yorktown, and Jamestown. Lots to do and see here, including Busch Gardens Old Country just minutes away. It's part of the Yorktown Naval Weapons Station and this section of the base has very little activity that it feels almost deserted. The campground features full hookup, 50 amp sites that are fairly level concrete pads with paved roads throughout. Surrounded by woods with great hiking trails but the sites are only partially wooded so we get excellent reception for our Starlink internet. The campground wifi seems to be pretty good, also. My Verizon cell service is hot or miss, though. They also have very nice 2, 3, and 4 bedroom cabins - many with waterfront views of Queens Creek or the York River. Highly recommend.

Nice quiet Navy campground located in the heart of historic Virginia. Very clean with 50 diagonal back-in sites with full hookups including 30 and 50-amp power, water and sewer connections. There is also a picnic table and fire ring at each site. The sites are well maintained with grass being cut at least weekly if not more often. There are walking trails on the base as well as salt and freshwater fishing. A lot of animal life wanders the area. We saw deer, turkeys, groundhogs, ospreys, bald eagles, songbirds and a fox in the area. It is also noted that, being a wetland area, there are snakes and ticks in abundance so take appropriate steps to protect yourself. The campground is very close to Jamestown, Yorktown and Colonial Williamsburg and within commuting distance of Richmond, Petersburg, Washington DC, Virginia Beach and other historic cities. It is also located very close to Busch Gardens and Water Country. There is a shower/bath house is aging but, while not the cleanest I have seen, is at least not a complete health hazard since they try to keep it reasonably clean. There is a laundry facility that has a few issues. There was 1 bad washer and 1 bad dryer of the 3 each and the floor drain backed up a bit when the washing machine emptied but all of that has been reported for repairs. The functioning equipment worked well and costs $1.50 per wash load for 36 minutes and $1.50 per dryer load which lasts 50+ minutes. Reville plays at 0800 and Retreat sounds at 2030. That was the only sounds we could hear from the base. Occasionally you could hear fireworks from Busch Gardens, but not that loud. Overall, a very quiet area. The only real downside we found in the area is very poor cell phone coverage at the site we occupied (#19) only getting 1 bar at most and we never picked up the wifi that was supposedly there although other campers nearer to the bath house said they had fair reception so I would call the coverage spotty. The people at the base were all friendly and helpful. We didn't have a single issue with the people in the entire 2 weeks we stayed. There is a mini NX with gas and diesel and light groceries. They also have ice there. Be aware they are closed on Sunday. This is one of the best places we have stayed, and we will definitely stay again.

Easy access to base, very professional Navy Police both Military and civilian. The sign in was also easy going. Mr. Aundre was very helpful. We had a Class A, Spot #8, and a back in, no problems with hook-ups, although the internet works about 75% of the time, which was great for me, (a get away from the hustle and bustle)..We did experience some high winds one night and a tree fell on our picnic table. The staff handled it immediately, and removed the limbs, and repaired our table within 18 hours. (maybe sooner). The park is very clean, bath houses were fine, no problems what so ever, we will be back.

The shopette has diesel and is accessible for big rigs. While all of the sites are concrete pads, some of them are VERY unlevel in both directions. I was unable to get my rig level, so ended up using the dump station the morning we departed.

Stayed over Labor Day weekend in 44' Fifth Wheel. Easy to navigate internal roads, 20'x40' concrete pads, FHU, solid utilities. Exceptionally clean and well maintained grounds. Camp Host and residents take great pride in the appearance of the campground. Hiking, fishing, canoeing and kayaking. Quiet campground away from the noise and activity of the nearby Water Country. NEX MiniMart with diesel, firewood and ice along with the usual convenience store items, including adult beverages of various kinds. The only drawback is cell service (Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint) were spotty 1 bar and WiFi was intermittent and OTA TV reception was hit and miss. But then, I didn't come here to watch TV or surf the internet. Region in HPCON C so masks are required in all buildings. One of the best, if not the best military campground we've stayed at.

Cheatham Annex is a sweet spot. One can see from the giant warehouses (many of which badly need exterior makeovers) and ship storage yards that there is still a military mission here, but at least 50% of the mission seems MWR! Everything needed for all things rest, rec and fun are present and accounted for, even though somethings were closed due to COVID (the grill and maybe the swimming pool?). If you play golf, the Annex has a gorgeous course. Swimming pool environment looked very pleasant, although it's no where near the RV park. In the RV park proper sites were spacious concrete pads, mostly level and with well-kept flora and fauna. We enjoyed having both a tall charcoal grill and a fire pit of our own. My only negative is that the restrooms were in need of attention, having dirty floors and cutting corners like not reloading the TP dispensers. Laundry facility was roomy and had the all-important table for folding, albeit with same dirty floors. Saw some modern rental cabins that by outside appearance looked to be large and a good experience. And in the local area, so much to see and experience in just short drives along that serene and scenic Colonial Highway. In short, we'll go back for a longer stay if possible.

2021 Keystone Cougar 28 Ft. 5th wheel. We enjoyed our stay at this little RV campsite. Flat and level concrete pad, quiet (except gun range and maintenance mower), very clean, and everything works except site #27 to which the dump hole does not have a thread so you have to use donut and put a heavy rock on top of it. Also, we were not notified prior to arrival that my assigned site #30 was given away so I have to call them when I arrived at my already occupied assigned site and they gave me site #27. :-0( Anyway, the campsite is 10 to 20 minutes away from Bush Garden, Waterways Park, and the Historic Triangle namely; Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown. We dedicated one day visit to each museum park and it was a lot of fun for us. The base also has a little 18-hole golf course and fishing piers to which we managed to catch a rockfish.

Quiet and family friendly. Sweet bathrooms toilet/shower combinations. Well laid out and easy to park our rig. Concrete pads are not quite level. A lot of birds. Williamsburg is very close.

I love it here. And yes it does deserve the Rating I gave it. The Mrs. and I carry a modem to upgrade our WIFI and cellphone service and have never had a problem with any such receptions I have seen posted herein. My wild life upgrade is that I and my puppy had to leave the RV at around 0315 so he could do his thing and came across a beautiful skunk in the campground. My pup wanted to get a hold of that creature and I had a good hold of his lease and pulling him back and away from the area. The skunk was holding his ground. Wild life all over the place to enjoy watching, but in this case at a distance. I used to say this was the best kept secret in the Navy, but not any longer. When we arrived it was fairly loaded with RVers and around 20 of them departed in a few days, just prior to us leaving at the end of the week it started to fill again. Just a suggestion, make your reservations there, whenever you have your RVing agenda established. As always, we will return to the best Naval MWR facility for RVs, campers, and those that like to just rent cabins on the East Coast, if not the USA.

If you depend on WiFi or cell service look elsewhere; we could not get WiFi in the campground and very little to no cell service. We depend on a hotspot to ensure our dog is safe. We had to leave after one night. Other than the nonexistent cell service, the campground is one of the best military campgrounds we have seen. All the pads are concrete and electrical posts are modern. Bathhouse was fairly new and clean. NEX minimart did not offer much for the campers.

We cam to the Williamsburg area for my Niece's graduation and stayed at the Annex. Excellent site, quiet (except for occasional live fire training in the distance. Only drawback was the lack of wifi and cell service on the Annex.

Very good campground location for visiting Williamsburg. Base has small eating place but not opened on the weekend. Local restaurants are about 5 miles from the base. All RV spaces are back-in and easy to get in and out. Good hookups, cable TV available but minimum channels. No Wi-Fi offered and our hotspot couldn't pick up a signal. Very quiet area and the price good for the location. Would stay again.

We have stayed in the cabins at CAX Outdoors many times over the years, but this was our first stay in the RV park. First off, if anyone has a desire to visit the Virginia Peninsula/Tri-cities Historic Area, this is your home base. Located on the York River, you are only minutes from Yorktown, Williamsburg, Jamestown, Busch Gardens, Water Country USA and the cities of Hampton and Newport News. There is no other place as conveniently located. The RV sites are very well maintained with a concrete slab that has room enough for an RV and an additional vehicle. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. There is a children's play set in the field next to the restrooms/bathhouses. The bath houses them selves are in good condition and everything worked. The only complaint with regard to the bathhouses is that they need a good deep cleaning and a coat of paint, particularly in the showers where the floor paint is almost completely worn off. Regarding amenities on the base, there is a small convenience store/gas station on Sanda Rd, the main road, and there is a snack bar, 4th Street Grill, on 4th street just past the Navy Gateway Inn and Suites. CAX Outdoors/MWR also has an extensive list of recreational equipment available for rent. Aside from the issue that I mentioned with the bathhouses, The only other thing that bothered me was something that is one of my pet paves, that being previous campers to our site were smokers and obviously sat outside near enough to the fire pit to smoke and toss their butts in the fire pit, with no fire burning, so that there was a pile of their butts in the fire pit that they didn't bother to pickup before they left. I have no problem with people smoking, I do have a problem with inconsiderate smokers who leave their burnt up butts for someone else to cleanup. Which I had to do before I could build a fire to use to cook our dinner and no, I didn't want the flavor of their cigarette butts in my food. We will definitely stay at the Kings Creek Campground again in the future.

As this is primarily an RV park with cabins, and tent camping is a distant third offering, there are not many tent camping reviews. I am writing this review for any future tent campers to benefit from our experience. First, always book the "primitive" sites over by the RV park. Stay away from the w/e sites as they are rundown, tightly spaced, and oddly located right across from one of the golf holes. We wouldn't even camp there for free, much less the $20 they charge. But the "primitive" sites? So much better! I put word in quotations because there is nothing primitive about them, except for lack of electric hookup. But you have access to a potable water spigot and the restrooms are very nice (no showers that I saw.) We were at site 6 and it was spacious and level. No issue putting up two tents and a camp kitchen. And because this place is a well-kept secret, we had no other campers around us and we could be very *liberal* with our camp boundaries. Plenty of fallen wood on the ground for fires, we never lacked for any suitable firewood. Bring a hatchet for some of the larger fallen branches. Only a few cons that we found: 1. The streetlights are annoying while you're trying to sleep. If you must have pitch black, bring a tarp to put over your tent to block the light. There is really no way to situate your tent to not be exposed to a light. There is one about every 15 feet. 2. This is not a quiet experience. You're right by cabins and rv-ers who may be looking to party it up for the weekend. We didn't mind, but if you're looking for a truly primitive, remote getaway - this aint it. 3. Not a lot to do. We followed a trail and walked about a mile to the NEX mini-mart. We went to the fishing hole. We found a scenic spot. Other than that, expect to hang out at camp a lot. Nothing wrong with that, just be aware. Would we go back? Absolutely! Already planning a return trip. Great price, good location that hasn't been overrun. If you want to tent camp but don't want to be cut off from civilization, this is your spot.

Great location near Williamsburg! Concrete sites, plenty of room between neighbor. Fire ring. Picnic table unusable because of wharped boards. Laundry very nice, but we were there 16 days and the broken washer was not fixed. Same with the shower. Who is managing the place? We called 3 times to pay for our campsite for the last half and no one would answer the phone. We left messages, no one returned them. Had to drive a couple of miles over to the office. Gowifi worked sometimes, usually not. The new campground would be great if those that ran the place would manage it better. Sad.

This is a very nice campground. All back-in sites but with plenty of room between sites. The facilities are clean. The Wi-Fi is basically non existent. Even if you can get on the signal is weak and drops off frequently. We were right across from a transmitter and the service was horrible. The cell service is just about as bad. Other than the Wi-Fi and cell service being bad this is a great place to stay. The most expensive military campground we have stayed at but give the options in the area it is not bad. There is plenty of room to walk the dog and there is a nice trail around Cheatham Pond.

No internet, no WiFi, great price. Perfect for enjoying family time and not being stuck with a device in your face. The campground is quiet! The only thing you hear are air conditioners and bugs. I loved it! Close to Busch Gardens and Colonial Williamsburg. Good fishing on base. Pool and mini Nex are just fine. Easy access to the highway. We stayed in a 42 foot fifth wheel and had no problems.
