I have been coming to Fallon for years as a retiree. This time however, when I asked for a reservation I was refused. I had left Fallon in November 2018 to head south. When I tried to make a reservation in January 2019 for an arrival in April 2019, I was refused. The person on the phone said that the RV park was full, and being used by Base housing residents while new housing was being built. The RV park should now be called a mobile home park. When I came on base to see the RV park on April 10, 2019, I saw a Jayco park model there as well as several other trailers that were there when we left in November. One camper was a Geographical bachelor who will reside in the RV park for his whole tour of Duty at Fallon (3 years). There were 4 empty spaces in the park. Yet online the RV park is not available for even one day. In the last 6 years since we have been coming to Fallon, the park is getting more run down by the day. MWR used to care for the park, but now Navy Gateways does. No one seems to care about the park.

This is the WORST military fam camp experience we have EVER had. And we’ve visited dozens of fan-camps all over this country. Fam-camp conditions were unacceptable and so bad, we left at first light and forfeited payment for a 2nd night. 1) Inprocessung was non existent. No directions, no sign or explanation where ofc is located or where to check in. We drove around for 30 min asking ppl how to check in. 2) No welcome packet; No base map, no facility locations, not even trash locations etc. Campground map was useless as our designated site wasn’t even on the map. 3) Ofc made a mistake and overbooked. We were relegated to overflow camping, which is an inexcusable dump. 4) Site water faucet did not work and ofc had closed. We had to pack back up, drive around and find another open site where the water faucet did work. 5) We were told we had a 50 amp. It was only 30. A major difference. With temp of 100 degrees, we could not use AC properly. Fallon NAS should be embarrassed to offer such inexcusable conditions for a military fam-camp. We will NEVER use Fallon again, and will NOT recommend it. As a retired 34 yr veteran, I feel sorry for the active duty who may be stuck using this campground.

I really hate it when I have to do a poor review of a campground, but someone has to say this. What in the world is Fallon thinking? $30.00 for a concrete parking lot with zero trees, a pay laundry, and it's a base with nothing for your kids to do, there isn't even a car wash on base. It's out in the middle of the Nevada desert. We stayed at Nellis in Las Vegas for $18.00, Lemoore NAS for $24,00, Travis AFB for $20.00, Beale AFB for $18.00, the desert rose, 30 miles west of fallon, (read the reviews), one of the very finest r.v. parks in the country, let alone Nevada, is only $25.00. Why do I think this has everything to do with MWR? The Air Force takes care of their own facilities, not MWR I have been told. I'm retired Navy and this was my very last time at any Navy base. From now on its Air Force bases. I have yet to have a bad thing to say about them. Sorry, but honesty is honesty, oh yeah, they have a first class movie theater. Getting on base takes an act of congress with the new "high security" gates, something most bases still resist. I wonder if Fallon has sold their r.v. park to KOA?? That would explain everything.

We are at Fallon NAS as I type. $15 per day, or $90 per week. Large concrete pads, all are pull through. 50 amp FHU, cable TV with a tremendous number of channels. Free laundry (need a key from MWR or camp host, drop key in lock box before departure). Three working high speed wifi connections available. Verizon air card and cell phone reception is good. Great deal for a famcamp.

Called reservation toll free # on June 22 and secured with credit card a full hook up reservation for Sun. July 16. I received an email confirmation for my reservation. On Sat. July 15, I received an email stating that I had been moved to Over Flow without hookups. I immediately called the Fallon Office for Navy Inns and Suites. The office clerk informed me that I really never had a reservation because I had used the toll free phone # instead of calling them directly. I then showed her my printed reservation copy, to which she replied sorry we're sold out. It was 108 + F and we had already traveled 8 hours, so we made our way to over flow, parked the RV, and went to the base pool to cool off. We strongly suspect that our confirmed site was "gifted" to one of the many homesteaders at this RV park. I called the toll free # and complained to a supervisor who claimed that this had never happened before this incident. Someone needs to do an audit of the Fallon Res. Office at Navy Inns and Suites to prevent this from happening again.

Highly recommend using the directions rather than your GPS when coming down from I-80. The streets on base are not labeled with names. Parking while checking in can be tricky. We parked across the street in the convince store parking lot. Overall not too bad.

Ok, so first thing is, the Navy Inns & Suites does not manage the RV park. MWR does this, so ignore ALL references to NIS. Even their handout they give you when you check in references NIS…not sure why this hasn’t been changed yet. Second…as an “outsider” USAF retiree, I’ve only been to a couple of Navy installations that were nice, but plenty that were not, and this falls into the latter category. It is what it is. Generally speaking, it’s a good place to rest for a night or two. Being June, there’s no chance I would choose to spend any amount of time out there in the heat and high winds. There is zero shade, so when the afternoon sun starts baking your rig, hope you have an oversized AC unit! Free laundry and clean showers/restrooms are a plus. There are no options on base for food in the evening.
Just came from Nellis, which is priced much lower…was a bit let down by this $37/night rate.

Very noisy from the aircraft. Hearing protection should be required when outside. The grid coordinates would have taken us to the main gait and that would have been a mistake. We called and were instructed to use the South gate because we would not be able to make it through the Main gate.

I did not thoroughly read the reviews on this site before making a reservation at NAS Fallon. If you are seeking this military FamCamp as an option to avoid Reno, stay outside the gate in Fallon for the same price or press to Reno. The hassle of making a reservation through the lodging office then expected to navigate your rig there to their conned-off parking lot is near impossible. Further expected to disconnect rig at the RV park or other location, travel to office, check in, get spot number, then re-hook up and move into spot. Definitely not worth the hassel for a one or two night stay. Wifi is free, 3 MBPS. Concrete level slabs in all gravel RV park. No trees/shade. No dog park/run. No diesel on station.

You no longer have to use the back gate to get into the base. WIFI is available but I understand that you have to go over to the laundry to get it. We have Verizon air card so don't use WIFI unless it is readily available in the rig. I only rated as it won't let me post unless I do, as I believe ratings are very subjective. What is 5 stars to you might only be one to me.

We stayed here for one night. We had read that the park was accessible from the main gate; however, when we got up near the entrance to the base there was a sign directing RVs to the south gate. We went and it was closed. A call to the number on the gate brought one of the security people to let us in. He told us that we COULD have gone through the main gate and that the sign was incorrect. When we arrived at the park, the check-in office was closed but the camp host was out and he helped with check-in (FYI, the rate is now $15). He told us that the base movie house is free but we did not go to verify. No WiFi available, even in the laundry room (the router was not set up - maybe a temporary thing?) Otherwise, it was a great place to stay; lots of vacancies.

As stated before, this is in the middle of nowhere. However it is only 6 miles to town and some decent shopping. The park is a field filled with crushed rock. Each site is a nice level concrete pad with w/s/e hookup. There is an area near the bath house that has a picnic table and two double grills. Laundry is free and all machines were work well. The laundry room and bathroom were very clean. This time of year, not many people here. At $77 a week, it is a good deal. People at checkin were friendly and helpful. At check in, you are given keys to the bath facilities and laundry room. There is a drop box in the laundry room to leave the keys when you leave the park. Noise level was not that bad. A few flights, but not that many. It is a park I would stay at again if I were in the area. Again, no one flying the colors. I think it is sad that we don't see that more at military campgrounds. Verizon wireless not perfect, but worked well most of the time. Same for wireless broadband for computer. It does get cold here overnight. The surrounding mountains are some of the best I have seen. Mostly snow capped right now. Very beautiful.

We stopped by for only 1 night, but wished we could have stayed a week or two. VERY relaxing there. This campground is only a couple years old and still looks new. Staff was friendly and helpful, campground was very clean, showers and bathrooms were very clean and the price is perfect! Cable TV is now available at all of the sites. WiFi is available at the laundry room (tables outside to sit at) and they are working to get the WiFi signal at the sites. Unfortunately, higher HQ is forcing them to raise the rates once WiFi is operational at the sites. Hopefully, they will remain good. Military Campgrounds are a BENEFIT and the pricing should reflect this, as it does here. Fallon NAS is sort of away from everything. If in this area, we'll be back for sure!

Do not attempt to get an RV into Fallon on the weekend. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon. We called the 877# we used to make our reservation to see if there were any special instructions as nothing was listed on our paperwork. They said there were none. Our GPS took us toward the South Gate. Fortunately there was a sign that said road closed so we turned left hoping to find the main gate. The entrances from the Hwy. to Fallon are not well marked. We arrived at the main gate and it was obvious we would not get a 23 foot trailer through. We were barely able to turn around in the check in parking lot. The Security Guard politely directed us to the South Gate and stated someone would meet us there and let us through. We waited 15 minutes. No one came so then we fortunately found the phone number for the main gate. We called and finally we were let in and given directions to the park. Once we got to the park the note on the bathroom door said we had to check in at the hotel.... The women at the hotel was very pleasant, but knew little about the RV park. If you want ambiance do not go to Fallon. It looks like a parking lot. It does have everything one needs. The commissary is closed on Sunday and Monday. The local grocery stores are much better. The gym is wonderful. One is only an hours drive from Tahoe. Virginia City and Reno.

Called for a reservation at Navy Gateway and Inns. Referred to MWR for reservation. They sent me to MWR in San Diego, CA. Set up a 5 Month reservation. Asked if price was still $400.00 a month? NOPE. No weekly or monthly rates, just daily. Daily rate is $42.00!!! Or $1260.00 a month. Ya gotta be kidding. Canceled reservation will stay in Hawthorn NV at ammo dump instead.

Prices are weighted in favor of long-term campers. Expensive - could have stayed at a Casino or fairgrounds for $15. South Gate at end of Berney Road to enter. Gravel with concrete pads but no patio. Park on concrete pad, patio is gravel. Figure that one out. 3 networks but site 9 Wifi barely loads mail and won't load any websites. One side is nice desert view but the other three are RV Storage and the rusting poles of driving-range netting, fuel tanks or buildings. Neat and clean except for a couple of 'homesteaders'. Not a tree, shrub or patch of grass. Good electric, hook-ups in good shape. Quiet. This campground is waay overpriced.

VERY DISAPPOINTING. We stayed here in September 2016 and it was a nice park then. It has since gone downhill. There is a guy in overflow with a large german shepherd that walks it and does not clean up after it. There are many poop piles around the dog clean up area (where the bags are located. There are a number of rigs that have junk under and around them. It looks like a low budget trailer park now. There is no camp host and the folks who are in charge of it must not come out and inspect the grounds. I went into the laundry room and there was a woman in there with a large dog. UGGH!!! She was breaking the only rule there is on the sheet you get when you pay. The rules don't say anything about cleaning up after your pet, so maybe folks are so lazy they take advantage since they are not being told. Wish we hadn't made as long of a reservation, because I can't wait to leave here due to the condition and lack of care of this facility. What a shame.

I had a death in the family and needed a spot ASAP. Nothing was available as a Squadron or more were there for training. Put in the "Overflow" area at $10/night. Water and electricity. The overflow had 6 places and had not been graded smooth in a long, long time. Weeds, etc. abounded. More like camping out hunting except for utilities. Reservations are now handled through the INN and Suites not MWR (confusion as to how to do it was apparent). The downer was the shower/toilet facilty (previously immaculate. NOT SO NOW. In the h/c stall there was a large smear of fecal matter that was there when I arrived and still there when I left. H/C shower head broken, sand and dirt in showers, black sock in same place for 5 days in shower area. Black and grey dust on all stall dividers and evidence of no real effort to clean. Add toilet paper and dump trash. Needs to have a GI Party or Field Day and be cleaned from top to bottom. Not a pleasant experience. Have visited for the past 3 years and it was fine. Now with the change over to Inn and Suites from MWR something happened to supervision of the facility. If overflow is to be used at least grade it somewhat smooth. Not pleased in the least about this visit. Hope it returns to what it was 1 or 2 years ago.
