You know those campgrounds where dedicated camp hosts keep things squared away and in good working order? This is not one of those. It is sad to see this park fall into disrepair. Over twelve years we have seen it improve, including a new bathhouse and lounge and upgraded electric. This visit, we arrived at 1:30 PM and found one unoccupied space, #6. The electric box was damaged, the water faucet broken and the site covered in dried toilet paper....

There seems to be a pattern here. I arrived without a reservation and asked for a site that was dark and quiet. She put me in Site #1, between the only two street lights in the campground. It was across from one of the picnic areas. Sites 1-10 are Jack & Jill sites. You park butt to butt and share W/E hookups. The sites are about 25' long, there is a tiny parking pad, grass patio w/ table and a...

Call first for current information. Gate 1 is closed, Gate 2 is open, the creek is flooded, also the gravel road from Missile Rd. and the clearance on the tunnels is 11'6" so there is no reason for all campers to avoid them. A better instruction would be to know the height of your RV including whatever is on the roof. The gate guards are supposed to be giving directions, according to the manager. This is one of my favorite...

FAMCAMP consists of two loops, one with paved sites and one with sites on grass/dirt and the restrooms/laundry in the center. Many sites offer shade and privacy, some are relatively short (25-35'). Even numbered sites 14-24 are out in the open and spacious. Everything worked at our site and in the restrooms. It seems a little overpriced for W/E only, especially the unpaved area. It was quiet and well away from base activity. Near a small lake. Self check-in...

Prices are weighted in favor of long-term campers. Expensive - could have stayed at a Casino or fairgrounds for $15. South Gate at end of Berney Road to enter. Gravel with concrete pads but no patio. Park on concrete pad, patio is gravel. Figure that one out. 3 networks but site 9 Wifi barely loads mail and won't load any websites. One side is nice desert view but the other three are RV Storage and the rusting...

All this beautiful little campground needs is someone who cares about it! So many of its problems could be resolved by a resident camp host or manager. The setting is lovely and offers opportunities to play, fish, swim, boat or just relax. Sites are scattered about so you don't look right at your neighbor. Very few of them are level but the electric and water pressure were good. The restrooms are very rustic, look like they were built out of...

Beautiful, quiet campground nestled in the woods on the edge of the base. Nice walking trail into the trees. Rustic look to the restrooms and picnic shelter. Extra picnic tables in the middle are nice but the trash is overflowing. Yes, the water is on the opposite side but there's good voltage and water pressure. Sites are spacious with concrete pad and, except for Overflow, with sewer on the pad. Restrooms are in a trailer, a private one for...

The camp host took my reservation and the office called and confirmed it. Campground was fairly easy to find and all the gates recognized my Homeland Security decal on the vehicles. The park is still very stark looking with just a small cherry tree at each site and no other landscaping. Lawn is mostly weeds mowed very short. Sites are about 45' wide, one after another. Wish there were some shrubbery between. Brand new post for utilities with two hangers...

This place is easy to fall in love with! It is set on the edge of a small lake away from the busy parts of the base. The host while we were there, Bill, couldn't have been nicer. There was a conflict in my departure date but he made me feel welcome. Everything is so well maintained it makes you question why other campgrounds can't maintain the same high standard. Respectful treatment of guests results in respect. Campers observed the...

Arriving on a Sunday and failing to read the Directions on here, I entered through the main gate without incident. The route to the Outdoor Recreation office is well marked as is the way to campground. We were put in so-called Overflow - 20/30/50A only. They are the new sites with asphalt pads and concrete patios, a picnic table and grass. They aren't very wide but neither are the ones in the rest of the park. I never intended...

The Campground Office was well marked. Our reception was welcoming and efficient. We were shown the available sites in Overflow and allowed to choose which we wanted. Most of the Overflow sites are spacious, most have tables and all are well defined. We never intended to wait for hook-ups but were told to expect 4-5 weeks wait. Staff was always cheerful and helpful. Their suggestion to eat at Goldman's was spot on. A driving tour of Trumbo Point made...

Demerits? Seriously? A management style of treating campers like school children assigns 3 points for various infractions. Exceed 12 and you're ejected. Office staff lets those who come to the office wait, while they take phone calls immediately. With only 34 first-come, first-serve sites, this park certainly discourages spontaneity. It really just provides subsidized Winter housing and RV storage for snowbirds. Be prepared for days of dry-camping, hearing generators from dawn to almost midnight. It would be considerate to...

Check-in was chaotic with staff multitasking and guests and residents waiting. We were given an end spot, to our regret. Traffic noise from one of the main roads on base was very loud, starting at 5AM on weekdays. We are not unusually sensitive to noise, but the loudest TV we have ever heard in any park was right behind us and across from the office and camp hosts. Utilities were good. The site was clean, spacious and had some shade....

Indeed the welcome was the warmest and most comprehensive ever. We were given a packet of base and tourist information. The park is new and not a tree, shrub or flower mars the sterility. Sites are wide with double concrete pads and cute tables added while we were there. Excellent utilities. There's a new, clean laundry. Because washers are top-loaders, it takes loads a long time to dry. Showers were clean but missing shower curtain, resulting in a...

The campground is a dirt/gravel parking lot, partly surrounded by chain link fence. Voltage and water pressure are good. There's no obtrusive lighting and it's quiet on weekends. Daytime, construction work is ongoing. Tow/towed vehicles must park outside the fence. There is a nice pub with food and a view of flight line, serving lunch and some dinners. The base location is convenient to many Southern California attractions. The price is unbeatable!
