Site 18 was our spot for the entire reservation. The site was level and wide; however, the site hookups (water, electric, and sewer) were all very far away. This seems to be true for back-to-back sites. Some sites are not back-to-back (Site 19, Site 21, Site 1, Sites 32-45) and seem to have closer access to the hookups. We have a 36' motorhome and lacked about three feet to reach the sewer. Keep that in mind when traveling here! The...
Great little campground. Small spaces, but great value at $20/night with full hookups. We picked up 25+ TV channels over the air. The location is easy to access from the Gott gate. No reservations accepted and we were advised to call an hour out to confirm site availability. Restrooms continue to be closed; however, laundry facilities were available. The campground is adjacent to small reservoirs and plenty of walking trails. No dog parks on base. Trails provided plenty of walking...
This is our first visit to Redstone Arsenal. I am writing this review while currently parked in the campground because we have had such a great experience here and wanted to share it! We came in at Gate 8 and had a very smooth entry, only needing to show an ID card, then traveled about 1/4 mile and saw a sign for the RV Park to the left onto Jupiter St. It took us right to the campground! The layout,...
Three things we really liked about the campground: 1. Price for the amenities received, space of each campsite, and hospitality. 2. Clean 3. Plenty of space for walking the dogs, large fenced areas for dogs to run and play. Three things we were not pleased about the campground: 1. When it rains, it pours and really becomes swampy. 2. Lighting could be improved. 3. Although cabins mixed in with campsites were really nice, some needed repairs and were a bit...
We have a 36' motorhome with toad vehicle. We called a few weeks prior and made a reservation; we were assigned site 5 which is a pull-thru site. The price quoted on the phone was $30/night. The MWR staff e-mailed four documents giving information on location and directions to get in to base. This information was very helpful and utilized as we entered the installation. The gate guard was efficient and told us to remain on G Road, go...
We came in on a Saturday, planning to stay three nights. Our experience at the main gate initiated the frustration. As noted in the description above, using the main gate is tricky, very tricky. We have a 36' motorhome, pulling a small SUV toad. I am pleased to report that using our mirrors and taking it slow, we were able to make it through the "S" curves and narrowness of this gate without jumping a curb or hitting the...
Our site was water/electric only at $15/night which was a good value as we needed somewhere to spend the night. Directions on this site and Google Maps got us to the campground with no problem. Once there, we were greeted by the campground host (after hours check-in). He was very friendly and oriented us to our campsite. Beyond that, this campground is in need of repair. The camping spot we were in was mostly gravel and the grass between...
Agree with previous reviews about difficulties getting to the campground. We arrived on a Sunday; therefore the gate we needed to take was closed! After some fancy maneuvering, we made it in. The installation has little to no signage for the RV campground. We relied on directions from the staff, which ended up being difficult to follow as well. However, we finally made it back into the campground. The initial impression is nice. A metal horse sculpture greets you...
Traveling to South Texas, we made reservations by phone to Corpus Christi RV Park. The rate was $17/night. We paid a total of $34...nothing additional. Arriving to the installation, the roads were fair to poor, signage was not impressive but eventually landed us to the RV sites. Finding the Marina/Check In area was another challenge, but we eventually found it. Walking in to the office, there were several young ladies working the desk. I gave my name and info...
Shields RV Park is located on the Navy Construction Battalion Center in Gulfport, at the end of Pass Road. We came from the East, Hwy 90 which was a beautifully scenic road, on the water! We had no problems traveling this road in our Class A RV with toad. Once in Gulfport, we turned on 33rd Ave and then looked for the Burger King on the left, a small NCBC sign is seen on the right. At this intersection...
We called about a week in advance and was able to get a four-day reservation in one of the new pull-through sites. We paid $30 per night for full hook ups, including 50 amp electric, sewer, water. We also had cable TV and very, very good WiFi service. We have a 36' Class A and dinghy toad and still had plenty of room in our pull-through site. The spaces are very tight; but, in the four days we were...
This was our second stay at MacDill AFB-Raccoon Creek Recreation Area. We requested this reservation one year in advance and provided a $100 deposit to hold the reservation. We had the option of staying up to six months but we stayed only about four full months this season. This campground is large and is really a pleasure to drive to. You will travel through the entire base to get to it which means you pass by the hangars, air...
