Do Not Follow GPS to Gate...went to a closed gate and wound up backing a 30' RV much further than I cared. After a lot of roaming around locating an open gate and eventually the RV Park the rest was great. Given site 3 for two nights. As others have already mentioned, sites are huge and level, concrete. All inner roads are gravel. Acceptable WiFi. On Air TV reception is good, several channels. BX/Commissary...
Am presently camped here. Very quiet, 10 sites occupied, including me. Most are active duty. Eight very long pull through sites and about another dozen or so in a large semi circle. W/E/S to all. The pull through are all relatively new additions. Walking distance to the Commissary/MC Ex...about 3/4 of a mile. Plenty of walking/biking areas. Outstanding WiFi, probably the best I have used anywhere. Attendant, Richard, a retired Marine that...
Location: Perfect, for doing nothing...other than walking the beach, bird photography, surfing, ship watching, sitting in the sun. For the more energetic, Jacksonville proper has a multitude of things to do and see and NAS Jacksonville is only about 35 miles away. Cleanliness/Hospitality: Probably the most well kept facility we have visited, the sites were cleaned and grass cut after each departure just prior to the arrival of a new occupant, which happened very soon after the...
One of the best money values we have experienced, $12 for FHU. Lot of very tall pine trees and a few dead ones that were a little concerning in windy conditions. We did enjoy our stay here, good walking and close to Exchange/Commissary facilities (a mile or so). It did appear there were A Lot of Homesteaders which seemed to be active duty and my next door neighbor had been there for over a year. Had...
We spent the 20th thru 27 February at this wonderful place. Everything was First Class, from the Welcome packet to the location and even the weather was perfect. Plenty of activities available, ice cream get-together-pizza evenings, tours, van trips to local attractions and on base activities and the gym. I think what makes this place work so well is that they have plenty of help for all functions and one or two folks are not task with trying...
Am presently here, in site #1. Sort of a shabby side of the CG, new pad, but short and no place to park vehicle nearby. Has been raining and the roads are REALLY messy, a white, pasty mix that really messes up your vehicle, inside and out. Some real gravel, or concrete/paving, would really be a plus. Host was very helpful in directions, called him before arriving. When arriving via I-80 use Exit 439 onto...
Base relatively easy to locate as was campground. Two sections, old, with shade but low electric and some, what appeared to be, homesteaders. Got a site in the new section and the only issue was NO SHADE and it was 102 upon our arrival. But that was not a real problem, thanks to A/C. Sites were very large, both in width and length, and all utilities were easily accessible. Staff was friendly and helpful. ...
Spent the 8th, 9th and 10th of June at this little gem. Met camp host Andy who gave me a through rundown of the campground, base mission and "must sees" of the surrounding area. He is a fountain of wisdom. Had a little problem with a nose bleed caused by the 7000 plus altitude and 15% humidity and could not get it plugged. Was en-route to the Flagstaff Medical Center and went by to discuss location...
Arrived with reservation, No camp host, was away on duty. Checked with Asst. Host who had no list of incoming folks, said to take any empty site. I did. The next day was told I was in a site that had been reserved for the previous two weeks, just hadn't shown up. I had to move. Would have been nice if names of incoming campers were posted on the campsite post and the reservation dates. ...
Was put in "overflow" location down by the lake with W/E even though some sites were vacant for the duration of our stay. Camp Host was helpful in locating an overflow site giving us a choice of spots. Bath house available however was some distance away and was reasonably clean. Hosts Steve and Melee did do a lot to organize activities such as breakfast on weekends, pot lucks and other social activities in the "Round House." ...
Even though we spent our three days/nights in an overflow position, which still offered FHU, we were very pleased with everything this facility had to offer. The FREE laundry is a definite PLUS leaving my wife to question why such a service would be free when even a token charge would help offset operating expenses. Laundry room, bath facility and game room/lounge were always spotless. We were welcomed upon arrival by Missy with an information packet loaded...
My wife and I recently had the pleasure of spending a few days at this facility and enjoyed it very much. However, IMHO there are a few things that could be done to make this an even better place. (1) Pave the roads within the park. For the money this park makes and charges paved roads would not be too much to expect; (2) The laundry is now available by obtaining a key from the staff...
Great park, very level concrete sites, pedestal (lighted) at each site containing water and electric, nice touch. I paid $18 per night, stayed two nights.WI-FI available, however weak and was knocked off frequently. Can take laptop to laundry/bath facility and get good signal since antennae is on top of this facility. Just behind commissary and near service station and NEX. Lot of "homesteaders," one fellow told me he was retired Navy, now Civil Service working on...
The location is in the foothills of George Washington National Forest on a branch of the Potomac River and one can watch the trout swimming from the cottage deck. Quiet and somewhat remote. The staff was terrific as was the accomodations. There are several cottages as well as some suite setups. We stayed in a two BR cottage, washer/dryer, cable, really nice. Retirees are allowed to dine in the dining facilities and the food was great....
Very neat and clean area, gravel, however, level and large sites. Terrific bath facilities, new and private. Internet available in laundry/rec building. Firewood provided at each site, really a nice touch. Would definitely stay there again.
