Retired USAF E7 and then retired after 24 years flying for an airline 4 years ago. My wife has been bugging me for years to get a camper of some sort, TT, 5W, or MH. I'm a little hestitant as it all seems like a lot of work towing, setting up, etc. Anywho, enjoying the info here to educate myself. I really have no towing experience other than a boat years ago.

I enlisted in Dec 1967 and spent 20 years in the USAF. Met my wife in Valdosta GA while I was stationed at Moody AFB. Assignments were to Moody twice, Zweibrucken AB, Osan AB, McGuire AFB, Keesler AFB, Columbus AFB, Eglin AFB, Patrick AFB, and finished up as an Air National Guard Advisor in Montgomery AL with the 232 Combat Comm Sq. Two grown kids w/ their families, all of us living in the Birmingham AL area. Any advice appreciated on how and what to start with. I'm thinking a 2500 diesel and a TT. Look forward to participating and any replies.

Welcome to the website!

We've been living and traveling in our RV for the past 13 years. Each type of RV has it's own advantages and disadvantages. It depends on your type of RV'ing and preference. I prefer a motor home, since I can easily maneuver it and be setup within minutes. Jacks down, slide-outs, and satellite TV/Internet are all done at the push of a few buttons. I also don't want to have a large truck to tow a 5W. I tow a Jeep Grand Cherokee for getting around town and sight-seeing. But again, this is my preference. We do get jealous at times when we visit someone's nice 5th wheeler home.
