@ Florida camper

I haven't returned to Monroe County yet, sheletered in broward county/Coral Springs and they're looking at finding me perm deal here in lauderdale area which is better with my current health issues...

Don't really wanna see the devastation...much less watch my local friends go bankrupt after losing their homes...

Say your prayers please...

Prayers for those affected, especially those in the islands that received a one, two punch.

We arrived home yesterday and thankfully very little damage. Our roof blew off of our well house (painted GO ARMY on it as Army National Guard flies over our area) and some fencing blew down. Not many homes in our area and got electricity back a few days before we got home. We have no trees on our property but driving home on the roads near our property we saw huge trees and limbs piled up on each side of the road as we were told 85MPH winds ripped over parts of Hernando Co. Pictures from the Keys are shocking and look like a third world country and it will take a very long time for restoration. Prayers and volunteering are in the works...............................

I'm actually looking to tent camp at Sigsbe so an update would be wonderful. Was supposed to leave Jersey on 15 Sept but thought better of it. Don't know any in the area and have found it difficult to get answers as to the campground re-opening so thought I would try here. I understand that many have suffered greatly and my issue is way down on the list or priority but, I sure would like to put some of my money into the local economy.

I saw an aerial shot somewhere that showed Sigsbee fared well. The boats on trailers looked normal. I read on the NAS KW Facebook site that a few of the houses were hit hard (I think 9, but not positive). As I posted somewhere else the base posted a little while ago: "Please make special note: All lodging facilities including the campground, vacation rentals and NGIS are being used to support displaced active duty and DoD civilian employees impacted by the storm until further notice. No space A or recreational lodging is available. We will return to regular business as soon as possible, however taking care of our active duty and DoD civilian families impacted (some have lost almost everything) and our recovery/restoration efforts to the base are our priorities at this time."
