After roaming around in New England this fall we were heading back home via a stop at a friends home in NY when we stopped at this KOA in Fredericksburg, VA. Highly over rated by Woodall’s. It’s 8.2 miles off the highway down narrow roads and a steep hill into the place. Its so far out in the woods that there are wild beaver building winter homes in their ponds. They would not give me a military discount even when I pointed out to them that it’s KOA policy. They reiterated they were only required to give discounts to KOA card holders. Their so called CATV system is provided via their own dish and has about 17 channels. The first two channels were somewhat clear, the rest were fuzzy and blurred. Very bad impression of the whole operation. Nothing is close by. Not recommended for a base camp.

On the good side is the lot sizes which are larger than average and mostly level. But they are almost all in natural settings which would become very nasty in wet weather. Our next stop was the KOA near Four Oaks, NC where we did receive a 15% military discount and had excellent coverage on more than 70 CATV channels. Total savings over the Fredericksburg KOA, $22.00 a day.
