Review Detail

This campground is exceptional for space and privacy. Extra wide sites-concrete pads for parking and picnic tables. Horse stables are nearby, enjoyed watching them. Good laundry room and bathrooms. Only drawback is knowing which gate to enter/exit when waters rise in creek that crosses road to campground. There had been no rain when we were there, but the creek rose anyway and the road was closed. There was an alternate gate which was actually a closer and better access to I-35. Make absolutely sure that you call the office the morning that you arrive in order to know which gate to enter. Office staff are very friendly and helpful. Lots of MILCON going on at the base. Layout with so many streets can be confusing as well. It is a large base. PX is a bit small for so many people, even though a large facility, needs to be larger... Commissary is good. And of course, San Antonio is packed full of stuff to do...Be sure and visit SAS General Store and Shoe factory on southwest part of town. Will definitely revisit.
