This was our first time at DM campground. After reading so many good reviews, we thought we would travel to Tucson to check it out. The office staff is top notch and very helpful. However, while we certainly enjoyed our stay at this campground, there are a few things which could be improved. The laundry facilities are woefully inadequate for so many winter visitors, forcing many to go to town to do their laundry. And secondly,...

If coming from Alamogordo south on Hwy 70, the West gate is the second gate. You can use the West Gate unless you are coming in on a weekend, or after 5:30 or 6:00 p.m. weekdays. Otherwise, you will have to use the Holloman AFB main gate. The directions to the famcamp from the West Gate above are correct. However, if you come in the Main Gate, Martin Ave. is closed and blocked off due to housing construction....

We have visited many military campgrounds in the past year, and this is one of the finest. Laundry and restrooms are very clean. Sites are level and hook-ups are good. No power fluctuations that we know of. The weather in summer is in the 70's, and the scenery is beyond description. Some of the sites are randomly configured (not sure why), but overall there is enough room between most sites for privacy. BX, Commissary and...

Campground was full, so we stayed in a recently converted site with 30 amp and water only. Several people were in electric only overflow. This is a nice park with too few sites. I think that they recently added a row of sites, so the need is recognized. There appears to be room behind the office building and perhaps in the strip of trees and grass where extra sites could be added. Also, the existing...

Sites a bit close together, but overall the park was in an excellent location to Fort Lewis and all the touring sites. Nice, quiet area...14 day limit was enforced when we were there as our neighbor had to move out when their time expired. Bald eagles were nesting nearby. They were rebuilding a fishing dock on the lake when we left. Should be good when completed. Park provided a hook-up for Dish and DirectTV so...

Initially tried to get into Famcamp at Fairchild AFB, but no stay limits and electrical upgrades made it unavailable. Host at Fairchild was helpful and got us a spot at Clear Lake, which is the recreation area for the AFB. Sites are close together; we were placed directly in front of the dumpster. Unfortunate for us because it was overflowing (smelly) for 3 days after July 4th weekend. Rules state no parking on grass, but was...

We stopped on our way to Glacier Natl. Park. The Gateway Famcamp is located immediately to the right outside the main gate, so that you don't have to negotiate the security barriers. We were immediately greeted by the camp hosts and directed to an available site. The hookups are good (except for shared water which posed no problem), the laundry and bathrooms were immaculately clean. It is windy here, but everywhere we have been west of...

New bath house and laundry room have been added. 4 complete baths, including sink, commode, and shower. 2 washers and 2 dryers @ $.75 each. Campground still has old mobile home hook-ups, but functional. You may choose to drive into the sites, instead of back-in because concrete pads for porch are on different sides for different sites. If you have a full black tank, they prefer that you use the RV dump in front of...

Nice campground, but during the most visited month of March, too small. The difference in ratings concerning this campground most likely depend on whether or not you were in the front row with a view of the ships or on the back row facing a baseball field. They make you sign a waiver that if your car or RV are damaged (probably from baseballs), they are not responsible. The hosts do a great job of fitting people...

The MWR rep was very friendly and helpful. However, they have added new sites with the hookups right by the road, meaning that you have to park your RV on the road to line up with the cabana and hookups. Strangest hookups we have seen in our travels. There was one washer and dryer and two combo bathrooms with showers (all in one). The base looks a bit like a ghost town with the U.S. Border...

This is a works-in-progress campground right now. They are working very quickly to add many more sites. If you visit, ensure you explain what full hook-up means because one of the newer office personnel thought that only meant water and electric. This will be a great campground in a few months from now after they add the new sites. View of the bay is outstanding, but as stated in other comments, it can become very windy...

We thought this campground was very scenic with the lake and wildlife, i.e. deer, gray fox, etc. The area should be expanded to add more sites; there are not very many available. There had been no rain in weeks, and the road into the sites was that white limestone dirt common to the area, which made getting the motor home and vehicle extremely dirty. They poured concrete for the sites, why not the road? In other...

Loved this campground, but a bit far from Fort Sill. The scenery is beautiful, however. Hook-ups are very good. Laundry and restrooms are good. A mountain view, quiet and serene. Not sure, but think we heard several coyotes crying/howling at night. We loved the Wichita National Wildlife Refuge and Meers hamburgers. Fort Sill is so packed full of history with the Apache cemetery where Geronimo is buried. The old Fort Sill quadrangle is...

This campground is exceptional for space and privacy. Extra wide sites-concrete pads for parking and picnic tables. Horse stables are nearby, enjoyed watching them. Good laundry room and bathrooms. Only drawback is knowing which gate to enter/exit when waters rise in creek that crosses road to campground. There had been no rain when we were there, but the creek rose anyway and the road was closed. There was an alternate gate which was actually...

This was a great campground. Best level, long sites we have ever seen. Had to drive off base a bit to get to Del Rio and other tourist points, but enjoyed everything there, including the trip to Judge Roy Bean's town of Langtry, TX. Lake Amistad has an AF rec area to boat, fish, etc. Friendly personnel working the office there. The only drawback is the trainer planes flying to late hours at night. ...
