I agree with comments left on previous. In addition to all mentioned. The wi/fi connection was great for us. We were directly on the lake front (facing lake) beautiful sunsets!!! Fishing was good too. Big thing to remember there is no site waste dump. Be prepared to move as needed or have your bucket. I can't say more than has been said before but I would return. I agree with the markets!!! But with multiple tours in other countries I can wheel and deal with the best.

Just spent a month at this facility and found it to be very enjoyable. Nice location only 30 miles from Charleston which is a wonderful city with a lot of things to do. We did the historic downtown tour, the downtown Market, The USS Yorktown, Plantations and Fort Sumter. If you go down to the Market make sure to deal, especially on the baskets, can get them down by 50% or more. The Campground is laid back. Same rules as most but no one shoving them down your throat. I didn't even see them posted anywhere. They have a Marina with boat rentals. But do not be late bringing them back. I was 10 min. late and it cost me a extra $50.00 they made sure I was aware of this before going out (my fault). You have to take a open book test that takes about 30-45 min. They have a small store on site with most items you may need.
Could use some new gravel on the sites and roads. And some site could use some tree trimming for the taller rigs. Satellite has good reception and my Verizon Air Card had 3 bars. Moncks Corner has everything you need and the Navy has a small BX and Commissary about 20 miles away. One thing that would be good for the overall look of this campground would be a place to store your trailers. It junks it up a little with them around your campsite.

My wife and I and our 2 kids spent 4 days here. My dad was in Charleston University Hospital and this worked out well. We had a spot directly on the water, it was excellent. The surrounding area has everything needed, wal-mart, auto parts stores, restaurants etc. The BX and Commissary is about a 40 minute drive, not too bad. WiFi was kind of shakey, hit and miss for where we had set-up. I went to register with the front desk and was told to first find a spot, get set-up and then come complete registration. The hosts were friendly as were all employees. We will definitely becoming back here, hopefully next time it will be for a vacation and not a hospital visit. The only downfall is they only offer water and electric, no sewer, so every 2nd day had to cart the cr*p to the dumpstation, no big deal.

We stayed here with two other couples and 5 kids. The weather was perfect and the lake was beautiful. I liked the fact that the water was low because it gave our two 5 year olds LOTS of room to explore (it also gave our three 10 year olds room to get away from the 5 year olds) We had Kayaks and a boat on this trip so we got to really explore the lake. The bathrooms were fairly clean but the CG was full that weekend. The only complaint I have is that I reserved two water front spots but only actually got one on the water (only one available). I still ended up paying for two water front spots some how. The camp hostess was very nice and knew someone that could answer any question. She even came back to check on us (first time with our popup). We had a GREAT time and will stay again, soon.

We did premitive camping on a waterfront space and also stayed in a cabin, both experiences where great. Bath house was easily accessable and very clean. The kids got to swim their hearts out and the adults fished till wee hours of the morning. Everything on the camp is easy to get to on foot. The area is secured with a keycode entry gate and security roaming the camp. The camp store was stocked with just about anything you need. The staff were all friendly and helpful. If we make it back this way, this will definetely be one of our overnight stops. The Lucas gang

Sitting on the water front in my motor home with a glorious view of Lake Moultrie with 70 degree plus temperatures is what traveling is all about. One of my favorite stops on my winter travels, this is my fourth time stopping here. With WiFi being about the only change I can see. (being able to get it in the motor home at water site).
I was told last year that they were going to try and get more antennas up to broadcast WiFi in more areas. I pretty much agree with previous reviews, except I have a 40ft motor home and have no problems getting around. Access road from US52 is a little rough, but just about every RV camp I go to has rough roads leading into them. Being able to sponsor civilian guest in is a plus, since sometimes we travel with non-military friends. There are 13 good water front sites, but they are charging $17 a day now while the rest are now $14. ATT cell phone and computer air card do work here, but somewhat limited signal. I was at Charleston AFB FAMCAMP just before coming here and talked with many who have never been here. This is a great area to relax and enjoy nature.

We picked waterfront site #1 which was waterview and next to the spotless bath house. We usually take our showers in our camper but since this bath house was so clean and the campground doesn't have sewer hookup we used the showers. The camp host was very helpful and even rode us around campground to pick out a site in her golfcart. We had great weather and got to ride our motorcycle to Charleston and several islands in the area. The lake was really low but the sunsets were beautiful. I highly recommend this Famcamp.

We were very impressed with the campground. We liked how open and well maintained it was. We had plenty of room to move around and choose our campsite when we arrived so they worked with us. I liked being able to make my reservation, then adjust the spot after we arrived. The tackle store was a nice surprise with friendly helpful staff there as advertised at 0700 on Saturday morning. We arrived the night before after the reservations desk had closed but the security guard was very accomodating. The 2 story rental units were several hundred yards away and separate from the RV area. The RV area had some long term and short term guests. The bathhouse was new and nice. We were very pleased with our time there and would recommend it. We will probably be back. The large lake and beach area were way below normal levels but it still was a nice sunset.

Short Stay was a wonderful surprise. We had no problems with our 40 ft American Eagle. We were located 20 feet from bulk headed Lake Moultrie. Gorgeous sunsets and wide spacious sites. Lack of sewage was only a minor problem with the frequent haulers to the dump station by the long stayers. Good restuarants were lacking, although Brown's BBQ was pretty good. Only 30 miles to commissaries and golf courses at Charleston AFB and less to the Navy Base. Rental boats were unavailable during week days. Would hope to stay longer next time.

We stayed at Short Stay about a year ago. I put two pictures in here when I found this web page but never wrote a review. Short Stay actually is a FAMCAMP. There is something there for every type of camper/RVer. We are at Foster Creek right now and took our friends out to see the place. They were so impressed they plan on going there for a week after we split up here. I could find no major changes since I was there last. Even the neighbor I had a year ago is still in the same site. You can see his rig in the picture above out behind our Everest. Our Everest is 38' long and as you can see in the picture we had plenty of room and we are by no means in their largest site. The store is not well stocked, it is exquisitely stocked. The beaches are designated and well marked with their expected uses ( Jet Skies - swimming - water ski launching - etc.). Life Guards are on duty during the summer season and on early/late season holiday weekends. I went in and asked the counter person what she would recommend for a reservation lead time for a water front site. During the summer season four months in advance should hold one for you. In the off season the max advance reservation time of nine months was recommended for Active Duty & Retires. Short Stay is gated and you get the pass number for the gate when you check-in. If you are just checking the place out as we did yesterday and have a base sticker and ID card they will not charge you the daily usage fee. If you are coming in from the south Larry has you taking US-17, it is actually US-17A, when you get into Moncks Corner you will be on US-17A & US-52, when you cross the bridge go left on US-52 west and follow Larry's directions again. Short Stay is a place where you can connect with the past, present & future so if your RVing up or down the Eastern Seaboard drop in for a few days and check it out. FastEagle

Short Stay is a very nice military R+R facility located right on a large lakefront. We stayed here overnight in a 34' motorhome during Christmas holiday travel. Very secure location with electronic gated entry. We arrived just after the office closed at 1700...no problem at all. Professional and friendly night guard had our paperwork and escorted us to a lakefront site...great spot with mature trees, cable TV and terrific water views. Bathhouse was clean and had adjustable electric ceiling heaters to take the chill out of the morning air. We stopped here on the scenic route from Myrtle Beach to Charleston. The town of Moncks Corner is a short drive away...nice,large Wal-Mart supercenter here. Overall, thumbs up to Short Stay...we'd like to stay longer next visit.

Performed a drive thru inspection and roads/rv sites are very rough, not big rig friendly. Office/store staff friendly and store well stocked with food and fishing stuff. Perfect place for a family vacation in villas and for all you fishermen. Large sandy beach area with lifeguard when beach open. Did notice numerous ponds around campground with signs saying beware of alligators and none of them had fencing around them! Ideal for day use or weekend outing for family wanting to get in touch with nature.
