Pretty much agree with most of what "harrylouise" said, although this was our first visit here. We came primarily because of its proximity to Joshua Tree NP, where we spent most of our days hiking. We were generally disappointed with the campground. After staying at about three dozen military campgrounds all across the country we can rate Sierra Vista as one of our favorites. The sites are large, clean concrete + asphalt with nice gravel between sites. MiFi is only so-so but we like the 50-amp service for a low weekly rate. We spent three nights at Grassy Pond to break up the drive from Kings Bay Sub Base in St. Marys, GA to Blue Angel Naval Rec. Area in Pensacola, FL. It was our first time to visit this campground. We loved the rustic setting. We had a spacious, shady pull-thru site with FHUs and 50 amps. Our phone, MiFi, and TV antenna (no satellite dish) worked well.
