We drove by today (6 Sep) and it looks amazing! All the sites are pull-through, and it's right behind the Commissary and Exchange, making shopping convenient. We are looking forward to spending a few nights there (we are local). The mesquite trees are going to be messy when they lose their leaves. I'll upload pictures.
HORRIBLE PLACE! DON'T STAY HERE! I am just kidding - this place is awesome and the folks who run it are some of the friendliest, most helpful around. I just don't want this place to get all crowded and occupied by homesteaders like some of the bases. A lot of other places have turned into HOUSING AREAS instead of RECREATION areas. It's sort of hard to get to, but the easiest way I think...

This is the most disorganized, inefficient camping area I've ever encountered, and I would not even call it a recreation area. I had not been here in 4 years, and boy has it changed. When I called to check, I specifically asked if there would be a space for us. ...

Wifi and cable, small fenced toddle/ little kid pool, very nice docks, a few boats that appear to be available for rent, including paddle boats. Gators and snakes likely in the ponds, so...
This is one of my favorite campgrounds anywhere. I only wish it were larger, as it has become quite crowded since I first started going there many years ago (when it first opened). The staff and volunteers are very helpful and friendly, and the location can't be beat - right on the waterfront where you can watch the ships come and go, and a short walk to the beach, with tennis courts adjacent to the campground.
