Substantial Rate Increase?

Conversation with a fellow camper...He indicates that a rate increase from the current $30/night to $45 or $60 is being considered. He believes the thought process is to bring the rate closer in-line with commercial parks in the area. I've always thought that the rationale for MWR Family Camps was to make a low cost alternative for active and retired military members and not an attempt to produce a cash cow. While the location at BBTS is very convenient, the advertised cable connection is worse than the sketchy over-the-air TV and they no longer advertise the availability of WIFI as it hardly ever works and when it does, it too, is marginal. It's just a parking lot with sites 1-12 quite close together and sites 13-22 just about as close, no trees or landscaping; not a resort facility as the bean counters seem to think. At $45/night, I'll be visiting the local state parks. Been coming down here for 20 years.

Unfortunately, many military campgrounds have been getting more expensive. Being non-appropriated, they do need to at least break even financially. But they should still keep the fees to a minimum.

What (where) is "BBTS"? I don't recognize these initials.

When I drilled here, BBTS was Bethany Beach Training Site. I think that's the official name currently. Bethany Beach Delaware...a facility of the Delaware National Guard. $30/day is reasonable for electric & water. We've been here for three days and no sewer. $45 or $60, I'll be at a very nice Delaware State Park and use my blue tank. They've hired a full time maintenance guy but I think all he does is enjoy his free site. The AGR soldiers here do a lot of movement from building to building but see no actual maintenance. Mowing & trimming when it is done is done by contractors.

first.. when discussing a campground please include the Base/Station name and location. Didn't have a clue what BBTS was. Had always heard the location called Delaware Guard, Bethany Beach ..

We like the Campground. It is not a "destination".. it's a place to stay at the beach.. Located on Million $$$ real estate. Last time there, we were all by ourselves in the lower section, on the bay.. The Station personnel have all been friendly and welcoming.

and yes.. the TV reception is poor.. very poor..

and .. no sewer means no homesteaders..
