For the bases that do not permit you to bring firearms (in your RV) on the installation, how does that work? The honor system? If you do not declare it how would they know you have one?
Thanks

Mike, yea, the honor system, but then again, a little civil disobedience is personal protection. Last winter, the family and I went to a great place, which stipulated that you declare upon entrance and they would be happy to escort you to their armory and store your weapon until departure. Didn't say anything nor did I wave it around once we were inside. Didn't have a problem.
We did have one other couple declare their POW and they were treated as mentioned above. No hassle, very professional treatment.

It's ironic that the number of years and locations (stateside and overseas)
I lived in government quarters, not once was I asked or required to check
my firearms with the provost marshals office.
I believe in the "You don't ask and I won't tell" policy.

But what about the subject to search going on and off the base?

Since 9-11, a lot of bases have changed thier policy. Here at Robins in GA if you live in base housing you have to turn any fireams in to the armory for storage. you are subject to search going into or out of most bases, but I do not know what the penalty would be if caught with a weapon. I would suppose it could be high.

I find it intersting that a group of active duty and retired military members would be trading stratagies on how to avoid complying with base regulations
