As I told everyone before I would let you know what info I received. Here is what HQ Air Force Manpower and Personnel Center Retiree affairs says about the DIBIDS sytem

There is no registration required. DIBIDS is a security system used by gate guards to ensure people entering the installation are not on the "barred access" list, wanted by police, have outstanding warrants, etc. The gate guard will scan the bar code on the back of your ID card. If your ID card was issued before 1994 and does not have a bar code, you will still be allowed access to the base, but will be directed to go get a new ID card that features the bar code.

I called the office and spoke to 'Tammy' who said the gate guards at the bases that have the system cannot refuse entry. If they send you to the visitor center they should just let you on. I would be more than happy to send copy of message if anyone wants to have it when they get to the bases that have it like Peterson and Charleston you will have to go the visitors center to go into their system. 'Tammy' says they should just let you on but you know how some bases are they have their own requirements. Did find where AF stopped using the base stickers a few years ago.

My email is [email protected] If ANYONE needs any help don't hesitate to contact me. Happy trails

This might eventually become policy at all bases - and if so, I hope the military can do a nationawide DB that includes all retired so we don't have to register at every base every time we go - like commissary or BX or camping :(

But, I just made a five-month trip from Cape Cod, down the east coast, across to Texas spent a month along the border towns and into Big Bend and then back. Stayed at lots of MCGs and shopped on bases, and never once had to do anything but show ID card at the gate.

So, where are you from, and where are you going to see the Mtns etc... Do not miss Canyonlands in Utah and Rockie Mtn NP in Colorado ... Fantastic areas!!! And, strangely enough, Death Valley will pop your eyes.
