Computer Associates Anti-Virus started this evening reporting a virus when running the U.S. Military Campgrounds Directory software. It reports the "Win32/DelBanc!/generic" virus is found in a temporary file, then deletes the temporary file(s). The Directory software will then not run.

THERE IS NO VIRUS!

The anti-virus "thinks" it is seeing the virus in a plug-in used in the development of the Directory software. Until this evening, there wasn't a problem. It appears this problem started with CA anti-virus signature file 5548. I'm working with the developer of the component and Computer Associates to have CA correct their signature file to prevent it from incorrectly reporting this virus. I've tested this with 2 other anti-virus programs (AVG and Sophos) and they don't report the virus.

Until this is resolved with Computer Associates, you can exclude this developer's plug-in from being scanned, preventing the erroneous virus detection. Depending on your version of Computer Associate's anti-virus, you want to modify the exclusion list to exclude *.nbp. In my version of CA's anti-virus, I had to exclude *.nbp in the on-demand scanner and in the real-time scanner. Since temporary files are written by the Directory software, you need to exclude everything with the extension of nbp since the actual temporary filename changes.
