I queried the POC for more info. Her reply included the caretaker info attached to the original post. My interpretation is this is either a contracted position OR they are looking for a contractor to take the responsibility and that contractor would find a workamper. Bottomline is it doesn't appear to be a camp host position working for NAF/MWR. At least that is how I read her reply, particularly her last line about contracting contacting me later for a bid.

Her reply is below;

Sir,
Attached is a summary of the position. Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to be put on the interested list. Pay is not listed as contracting would contact you at a later time for a bid.

Many locations don't "hire" camp hosts as an employee. Rather, they "hire" them as an independent contractor. The difference is, as as contractor your are responsible for your own taxes and insurance.

To follow-up on Larry’s comment; the position will be a “contractor” position, and uou will most probably sign a contract obligating you to a specific time period – arrive before the park opening date, not depart until after the park closing date. At the end of the year, you will be given a 1099 for the value of your work, which may include the value of site your RV occupied for the entire period, plus any stipend you may have received to include free laundry, monies for excess time worked over any predetermined minimum number of duty hours, etc. No taxes will have been taken out for the period worked, that will be your responsibility.

On my last host position, I received a monthly stipend plus a small monthly sum for laundry. When told that the following year, my 1099 would reflect the value of my RV site, I decided that was too much and I haven’t hosted since.

Good luck with what ever decision you make.

John
