There is a free dispersed camping area at Lake Mead Nat'l Rec Area called Government Wash. From the intersection of Lake Mead Blvd and Northshore Rd, travel east about 2.5 miles to Government Wash Rd. Turn right (south) and go to the end of the pavement in a large parking lot. The camping area is accessed via a well-graded dirt road at the south end of the parking lot.

If you zoom way, way in on the Weather.com interactive radar map (set to satellite view), you can easily see all the rigs parked there. It is on a point overlooking what is left of the lake. In the same imagery, you can see how far the water has receded from the Govt Wash boat ramp. Must be kinda spooky for the locals to see their water drying up.

I don't remember if the bathrooms in the parking lot were open. There is no dump station here, but dumps and water are available at other campgrounds not far away, such as Boulder Beach.

The camping limit is 14 days. If you break out the dirt bikes/quads and a ranger comes by, you will be told to pack up your stuff and leave.
