We are ALLLLLLMOST ready to begin our full timing adventure. Planning our first trip (we're starting in our home state of Florida) to be up the East Coast. Want to see Amelia Island, Savannah, Outer Banks, Chincoteague, lighthouses, stopping to see family in Cape Cod, then up to Maine to see our best friends for a week. Since we'll be so far up, we might as well go all the way & see Acadia, Nova Scotia, & Prince Edward Island. No real time frame, we will be fully retired & can take our time. Any ideas & thoughts on routes or places of interest are welcomed as we are NEWBIES to this lifestyle.

We are just ending our journey to Maine and Mass. Recommend buying this book "1,000 places to visit before you die" this book has taken us to remarkable places. We visited Bar Harbor, Maine and stayed at Bar Harbor campground which is just few miles from Acadia. Visiting Cadillac Mountain at sunrise is a must this is the first place in the US the sunrises. If you stay at campground I mentioned they do not take reservations but we were there in july/aug timeframe very busy and still got a great spot. We also stayed at Great Ponds a military rec center. We did not like because it was so far out but was nice.

We stayed at the coastguard base at buzzards bay at the entry to Cape Cod. Loved it. So much to do.

We are now at Fourth Cliff in Marshfield, MA. This military campground is great and all the rv sites are sitting on a cliff with access to Atlantic.

We are heading to West Point next. Our journey will then take us down coast to Key West for winter.

We are very new to fulltiming. Just over 60 days ago, we left San Antonio just after my retirement from AF.

We are lovin life.

The toll booths are a kick in the pocketbook when we went through NY. Traveled on the George Washington bridge, $60 for class c and a tow. Road on bridge rough, but got over it. Every door in the rig opened, lol.

Enjoy your journey.

WE do the east coast on a regular basis. Just a few random thoughts...

Tolls on I95 north of Baltimore are a killer $$$. Think about heading west, crossing the Hudson just north of West Point and then heading east through Mass. (BTW - Hanscom AFB has a great Famcamp. Otis has a small one on Cape Cod)

No propane allowed in either tunnels in Baltimore. Take I695 west (no toll) or east and cross over the Key Bridge w/tolls.

Try to go through (really around) DC and Baltimore on Sunday morning - much easier. You can stage south of there at Cheatham Annex (Williamsburg) of Ft. Belvoir.

Hope this helps... There is a Facebook Group called "RVing up the east coast" that may offer more ideas.

Acadia National Park is a must! We stay at Timberland, just outside the Island in Ellsworth.
