allycat, you're a man of few words. I'm sure sure some Ford V-10 owners will answer up but some more detail might get you a better answer. Is that V-10 in a pick up truck, a Class C or A motorhome? How many feet long and are you towing? Don't be surprised if the answers you get are all over the board. I record every fill up and do the math. Over years of travel, I'm getting 6.5 mpg with a workhorse chassis and the 8.1, mostly traveling with the generator running and towing. I've seen folks with similar rigs say they get 9 mpg. Some take the mpg off the dash computer or a just a couple of fill ups or their driving habits are far superior to mine. 6, 7, or 8 mpg in a Class A rig is believable with either the GM or Ford power train.

I see you have this on your profile page, posted at about the same time:
"has anyone got a idea that would increase my mpg on my 08 ford 450 v-10 Ford rv ??
11 hours 47 minutes ago"

There may be a few things you can do to get 5-10% better mileage, but do the math first to determine how many miles you will drive and what the cost savings will be.

I believe you can change a chip in the control system that will improve mileage, as well as putting headers on the engine.

If you currently get 10 mpg, and get a 10% improvement, that takes you to 11 mpg.

If you drive 5k miles per year and the average price of gas is $3.35, you will end up saving about $152. The cost of the headers is probably a lot more than that.

Had a 36' Class A on a Ford chassis with the Ford V-10 for 8 years. No modifications to the engine or drive train. I kept accurate records the entire time. After deducting a gallon for every hour I ran the generator, my V-10 got 6.3 mpg. Problem is - I don't really know if the generator used 1 gallon every hour.
