travel information

The wife and I are traveling from N.Y. to South Carolina the end of Sept. Looking for a stop in Virginia for 2 3 days, any recommendations?

Any particular preferences? Lakes, Ocean, Mountains? They are all very available that time of the year and uncrowded.
I live on Kerr Reservoir, several COE campgrounds with W/E hookups and waterfront sites, NC has state parks there too.
OBX of NC has plenty of sites available too. including an oceanfront location down by camp LeJeune, and the Coast Guard campground in Elizabeth City NC.
