Buckley AFB FamCamp

Purpose: The project builds a family campground with 38 RV sites. Each site will have a picnic table, cooking grill, water, and electrical hookups. The base is located within a few hours of several National Parks and many other major vacation areas. Local commercial campgrounds are filled to capacity during the summer months. The FAMCAMP is sited adjacent the base's outdoor recreation area which includes a lake stocked with trout and other native species. The facility will provide a unique opportunity for travelers on their way to bigger vacation areas and to those that want to visit base personnel while staying in a campground setting.

Drove by the new FamCamp a last Sunday 18 Sep 2011. It's going to be a very nice FamCamp when it's finished. They were placing the picnic tables at the sites.

Stopped by the outdoor rec to inquire about an opening date, but they did not have completion date

I went by the new FamCamp at Buckley two weeks ago (1st week of March). It appears open and ready for use. There was one rig in there and hooked up. The camp is near the lake on the east side of the base in the vicinity of the end of the airfield. Right now you have to contact outdoor rec in order to sign in. Facility is modern with a restroom area, however I didn't go in to check it out so I don't know about showers or laundry. The suggested entry is the Mississippi gate on the west side of the base.

The NEW Buckley AFB FamCamp isn't officially open until April 1st, 2012. This isn't to say people are already staying there.
