While staying at Adm Baker RV Park I attended a meeting on December 8, 2010 held by MWR at the golf course clubhouse regarding planning for a new 25 site RV park at the Navy facility at Pt. Loma. This is in the planning stages and the contractor doing the plans was soliciting comments from users of military campgrounds (about 20 attended, most retired with spouses, also there were 2 active duty families represented). There is a softball field with bathrooms on Steamplant Road which is on a plateau just above the Sub Base and below the National Cemetary. The outfield overlooks Coronado and San Diego. The plans are to enlarge the current bathroom into a bathhouse with showers. Where the current ballfield is, there will be approximately twenty-five 20' by 40' concrete pads with 15' between the pads. This will probably be a 2 to 3 year timeline, for planning and the bidding process for construction, etc. The construction process should only be about 90 days since the area is level and only requires grading for roads and laying water, sewer and electrical utilities. This will be a great addition to the San Diego area for military RVers!

Good news and thanks for sharing!

My concern is they probably will be charging $50+ per night, like they do at some of the RV sites at Del Mar now.

We all must think alike - The first thought that popped into my head when I read this "$50" a night ... but anytime we have another facility, it's nice ... even if/when it over-priced, it's still my choice over private CGs.
