Things here have not changed much since being here last year and the year before. I was in space 75, which is beside a path that leads to other campers. Being here, and having a big window beside me as I sat at my table, I had people walking by my trailer all the time. I could have closed my mini blinds, but why should I have to. Facilities are very good here. Laundry is $1 wash and $1 dry. 2 of the washers started eating money with nothing happening on 1/2 and were not fixed by the end of the day on 1/4. Also one of the dryers started doing the same thing. Apparently whoever takes care of it did not make any arrangements for someone to service/clean the area. That would be my only complaint. MWR is not responsible for this area. It is a leased area to a private company. Over all, stay was good. As stated by many, there is not a lot to do in the area, but the base does offer a lot. It is a good location to spend the winter, but, only having 30 days in advance to make reservations, you have to be quick to get in. I think they must hold back some sites for short term. I did notice that a lot of the people (also staff) here are the same ones that were here last year and the year before.

We arrived at 2 pm and 111 degrees. We never got power to our motor home trying 2 sites and it was too hot to keep trying so we checked into the guest house. The base reminded me of being in Saudi. They have free movies at the theater on Fri - Sun and we can use the mess hall for breakfast. We will stop again.

We used this base as a stop off and to leave our rv there while we took a few days to visit family in CA. This is quiet and out of the way, small and homey. The BX is very small, so is the commissary. There is a good car wash free to use. You have to get a decal for your windshield & the entry guards tell you where to go. Then you can come and go as you wish. This area is ag land, so to the East of the campsites is a view out to the fields. We got to see the Blue Angels flying and it is quite a sight.

Not much has changed since last year. Seems like the same people are here and in the same spots. There are some sites that look like the occupants haven't moved since day one. They have been doing upgrades to the "Sunrise" park. It is now Palm Oasis RV Park and Resort Annex. They have added full hookups to all the sites here and bringing it to 21 sites. Not all is done yet. Electric was extended to site 13,14 and 15. Still only 30 amp. Water and sewer to the rest. I heard they are waiting for a new transformer before they can extend the electric also. There is also a change in the rates. $15 per day and $90 per week. Still $250 a month. There has been an empty space next to me since I got here on the 7th, but still putting new arrivals in sites without electric hookups. I looks like someone is "saving " the empty site. There is a picnic table sitting in the middle of it. Units are fairly close together, but not that bad. Things to do on base make up for the location (away from town) and closeness of the units in this part. Young man at check in was very friendly and helpful. Campground host never came to the annex while I was there and there have been about 5 new arrivals. Guess he only cares about Palm Oasis. Overall, good place to spend a week, a month or a season if you can put up with the noise. As always, planes flying all day and the Blues are in for their training.

L. R. submitted this review using the Directory software: Was just going to stop for one night. There were several empty spaces, but was told by MWR, I would have to use the overflow lot. When I asked about the empty spaces, was told those were taken by people who had already paid for six months and not arrived yet. The next morning the spaces were still empty!

Location- not much around area. Good stop-over park. Cleanliness/Hospitality - Given the choice to pay at check-in pm or check-out in am. Amenities/facilities - Glacier water machine not working with no sign stating. Change machine was out of money in laundry facility, but lots of machine. Had to walk to shoppette to obtain change. NEX had control of vending machines/change machine. Shade was at a premium, it was hot. Value - excellent stop over park.

I totally agree with the review written by "excursion". Overall, staying there was a good experience and a great deal. Would stay there again.

Very nice RV Park. Base has great facilities, Gym, pool, theater etc. Lots of great activities. Only problem seems that the rules are made up as they go along and depending on who you know or how vocal you are makes a difference on how the rules are applied.

Don't understand how others rated this cg so high. It is so far out in the boonies, it negates the savings commercial campgrounds, unless you plan to stay a while. The man in the check-in bldg was friendly enough, but did not know his campground. If my brother-in-law and I had not walked out to our prospective sites first, we would have really been in a jam from his description of how to get in to them. As it was, the site was not very level, there was concrete for the picnic table/lawn chairs, etc, but the area for the camper was dirt. I definitely would not go back unless the commercial parks were full.

We stopped by just to visit. Only overflow sites were available anyway. Dale, the camp host was very friendly and a big help. There's a TON of activities at this park, although not much to outside of the base. This park seems like it would be a great place to spend the winter at, and a GREAT value. It also appears the base is giving the park support and positive attention.

This is about the BEST military campground we have visited. It might not be the fanciest or have the best facilities, but it is the people that sets this one apart from the rest. The staff is very friendly and try hard to resolve any issues that arise. The "Snowbirds" who are here beginning in October and wonderful. There are get togethers often and MWR sponsors trips to Mexico, San Diego, Palm Springs and more. The RV lounge has recently been updated and now has several recliners, TV, fireplace, poker tables, pool table and more. It is important to call ahead for reservations if you want to stay during fall and winter as snowbirds fill it up quickly. Summer is usually no problem, but be aware that temperatures can exceed 110 degrees.

I loved this place, wife did not ("Way out" and "Too windy"). One of the best managed of the poorly managed Navy RV sites. Long stays allowed. Very clean sites, some landscaping despite the "Pearl of The Desert" base. If you like the Blues, you'll LOVE this in winter and early Spring; it's their practice base. Base is an aux field and pretty sparse for shopping and facilities of any sort. El Centro and Calexico (a little larger and borders Mexico) and "old California" (tired, holding on) but have the full spectrum of modern shopping and facilities.
