This is our forth stay at Palm Oasis. Things around here have changed somewhat. (1). If you travel with pets you will be parked in the south side of the park and non-pet owners are parked in the north section. You are not allowed to walk your pet through the non-pet area. (2). We have noticed very few activities (or at least not as many) as there were the last time we were here. The bowling center snack bar has some of the best pizza’s and chicken wings around and the Club has some good food as well. We thought the drinks there are a tad expensive. Base gas station does not have diesel fuel. Small NEX and Commissary but the prices are good. Free movies Wed, Fri, Sat and Sun. If you carry a firearm you must sign a form that states you will store it in the base armory. When we tried to make the reservation through Navy Bed we were told you cannot make it for more than 30 days. I called Joann at the RV Park office and made it for the two months. The wind blows hard here a lot, sometimes when it is not forecasted. Recommend you never leave your awning out and nothing loose outside, specially if you are going to be gone for awhile. If you are going away for an extended amount of time (we were gone on a 12 day cruise) make sure you give the office keys to your rig. WiFi (gowifi) is very good. No problem with a satellite signal in most sites. You don’t need a password, just check the box and hit Submit. Here’s a handy web site: https://elcentro.navylifesw.com/

The desert location we found okay. The base has no assigned aircraft but many come here for the good winter weather to practice: including the Blue Angles Jan-Mar. It can be noisy at times but we are guest and if we don't like it then we don't have to stay there. The commissary is like the old corner grocery store: has almost everything, no problem parking and the staff is very friendly. Not sure what was going on with two groups that that come here every winter. Both groups seem to not like each other and seem to think they run the park. They complain about the management, camp host, and even the military command at the base. These two groups cause lots of friction for those staying near them. The security police was called a couple of times because one of the groups didn't like what was going on with the other group. These two groups acted very immature: like they were in grade school again. The facility commander and XO finally got involved and requested some from one of the groups to leave the base but didn't take any action on a couple other from the other group that were just a bad causing trouble. Management at the park need to get more involved with the rules and enforce them. There is no enforcement on where owners are allowed to walk their dogs. There are two dog walks available but most owners don't use them. Some sites are allowed to store lots of stuff/junk and management did not make them clean it up while I was there. Park roads need to be better marked to prevent wrong way driving on those that are suppose to be one-way. We found that the people working on the base were very friendly and were happy that we were there and using the facilities. The monthly cost to stay here is one of the best you will find with full hook ups.

I wish I could give one extra star for the value rating. The monthly rate cannot be beat! This is one of my top favorite campgrounds to stay for the winter. I’m already looking forward to my next visit in December.

El Centro is one of the bases where the CO has decided that spouses of veterans with a service disability are not allowed. After making reservations well in advance, we made a wrong turn and arrived just after the visitor center had closed. After about 1/2 hour at the front gate a very polite MAA escorted us to our site. We checked in at MWR and they said, just go to the visitor center in the morning. The next morning we arrived at the visitor center and the civilian clerk informed us that while I was allowed on base, my wife was not. I explained we were already in and set up. She said she should not have been allowed in the night before, per the base commander's guidelines. She said my wife needed to be sponsored. When I said I would sponsor her, she said I wasn't allowed to. My wife asked if she was allowed back in to help pack up and was told no. Finally, we asked to speak with a supervisor. Of course he was in a meeting. After over an hour, the supervisor called back and said he would sponsor my wife. We got back on and I went right to MWR/famcamp. I told them what had happened. They actually were surprised and said they were not aware that was the base policy. We decided to leave the next day. The civilian clerk was very apologetic and gave us a refund for the days we weren't staying. My wife suffered through a few deployments with me and knows the military life. She was so upset by the way she was made to feel, this has really turned her off from MWR facilities. To top it off, El Centro is kind of in the middle of nowhere.

We've stayed at several bases on our trip cross-country and this one is at the top of our list. After reading reviews for this park on other sites, anyone who complains about loud jet noise that is eligible to stay on a military base should have their access revoked. Watching the Blue Angels train daily was an adrenaline rush that never got old and fills this Navy sailor's heart with pride. On our last full day, the Air Force Thunderbirds showed up to practice for an upcoming March air show. BONUS! Now, about the park. It's clean, quiet (at night) well laid out, and safe. All the things an RV park should be. Laundromat on site with $1 washers/dryers. The MWR office where you check in offers propane fills and has an RV/Truck wash. Pro tip - take it easy on the roads outside of the base. They are awful.

This is not a destination RV resort, but it's good for a few nights en route. We had reservations and checked in on a Saturday. The camp host said the sites were numbered incorrectly and guided us to the site she said was ours but Monday morning MWR said that several of us were in the wrong sites. Oh, well. We were treated very politely on all accounts. Contrary to other reviews, our pad was 4" out of level side-to-side but we were able to handle it. The BX and exchange are VERY small, but you can stock up on the basics and it's only fifteen minutes to Walmart, Aldi, Lowe's, etc., in town. The theater was closed for renovations. As mentioned, the Blue Angels are based out of El Centro NAF in the winter and it was fun seeing them fly.

Wife and I had a pretty enjoyable snowbird stay for the most part. There is a strain on maintenance around the part but not bad overall. Joan and Doug are the best managers you could find. Too bad they don't have a camp host. There was a lot of contention going on between some of the long termers. It came to the point where the Base X,O. Had to call a meeting to discuss the problems. A few of us were very embarrassed about some of questions/comments brought up. Example... "Can the flight path be changed for the Blue Angels so they won't fly over my M.H.?" Unfortunately, most of the old timers won't be back next year.

I loved this place, wife did not ("Way out" and "Too windy"). One of the best managed of the poorly managed Navy RV sites. Long stays allowed. Very clean sites, some landscaping despite the "Pearl of The Desert" base. If you like the Blues, you'll LOVE this in winter and early Spring; it's their practice base. Base is an aux field and pretty sparse for shopping and facilities of any sort. El Centro and Calexico (a little larger and borders Mexico) and "old California" (tired, holding on) but have the full spectrum of modern shopping and facilities.

Stayed in the new RV park addition. Fresh landscaping, resort hookups. Local TV was from across the boarder. Satellite was great. Wash rack, free, open 24/7 across from recreation office. Dinning facility available on Sat and Sun. Added extra was the Blue Angeles practicing for the up coming air shows. Nothing like sitting outside your rig with a beer in hand watching them flying over head.

Great RV park, free air show!! Winter home of the Blue Angels and we got to see them depart! We arrived on a weekend and the office was closed but found camp host RV and info was on his door. Never did deal with the office but the camp host was outstanding. Very helpful and provided sightseeing info as well as restaurants, etc Glad he suggested seeing the Salton Sea! Site was large and gravel but flat. Utilities were good. No cable. We did not use the bathroom or showers but the laundry was huge with a lot of machines ($). The commissary was adequate but small. The NEX was like a shopette. No diesel on base. We would definitely stay here again if something brought us to this area.

Friday 3-10-2017. 1600Hrs, Check-in offices was closed for Blue Angels weekend. 1630Hrs Camp Host could not be found, (due to serious dental surgery that morning). Host dogs, auto, and golf cart were onsite, but we could not locate the Camp Host to check-in. Base operator did not have camp host phone number. Security did not have camp host phone number. After two hours we (RV1) and our guests (RV2) found available spaces and settled-in for the weekend. Dinged Hospitality and Overall Experience for these shortcomings.**NOTE!** Alert campers on Blue Angels Opening Show weekend that nearly ALL BASE FACILITIES will be closed on Saturday, including both pools, water play park, bowling alley & Kingpin, commissary, theater, and Staff/Officers Club/restaurant. NavExchange was open for the weekend, including the adjacent Subway sandwich shop. Found a great local Italian restaurant (Mozzarelli's) that would deliver food to the gate on Saturday evening, but it would be nice to have a list of authorized meal delivery vendors in the local area. I'm going back, due to the possibility of having access to all of the facilities mentioned above! It really is a Great Place to go!

We used this base as a stop off and to leave our rv there while we took a few days to visit family in CA. This is quiet and out of the way, small and homey. The BX is very small, so is the commissary. There is a good car wash free to use. You have to get a decal for your windshield & the entry guards tell you where to go. Then you can come and go as you wish. This area is ag land, so to the East of the campsites is a view out to the fields. We got to see the Blue Angels flying and it is quite a sight.

We arrived at 2 pm and 111 degrees. We never got power to our motor home trying 2 sites and it was too hot to keep trying so we checked into the guest house. The base reminded me of being in Saudi. They have free movies at the theater on Fri - Sun and we can use the mess hall for breakfast. We will stop again.

P.B. left this review using the Directory software: - Very nice campground. It appears that some work is still being done to the park, but the park is very nice now.

Called ahead for a reservation and arrived after hours. The came host had our reservation and after asking our preferences, assigned us a good spot. Concrete pad with patio with picnic table. Good value for full hookups and right across the street from a free car wash. Staff was very kind in recommending a vet for my ailing dog and let us go to town without having to first decide whether we would stay another night.

We stayed here a year before, in the same site. It had rained prior to arrival. While there is a good concrete pad for parking, the hookups area is unpaved. It was very muddy and a mess to get hooked up. Longer term sites seem to have gravel next to pad. The men's shower hose was broken. An easy fix, but it appears nobody was motivated to get a new hose and install it. A cheap and easy fix normally. I've sent my comments to Navy Gateways about these two issues. Otherwise it is a nice park and a comfortable base to walk around. The dining facility had excellent food for Sunday brunch, the exchange and commissary are small, but have good selection. The barber is very reasonable and did a good job. We'd stay here again.

We stay at many military, private and Elks Lodges as full-time RV'ers and this rates in the top 10 of our visits primarily due to the professionalism of the staff, value for your money and amenities on base...not to mention the Blue Angels and other military aircraft that fly constantly. Yes, there are some homesteaders and a bit of a clique but we find that most campgrounds have a "personality" and this one is fun! Beginning with the staff, they were friendly and extremely helpful, even when we called to get a spot on the day we were to arrive. Upon arrival and check-in, I had a 10 minute chat with the manager who was extremely amiable and welcoming. She obviously enjoys her job and takes pride in it. All of the RV'ers we came in contact with were also friendly; inviting us to join them in the morning for a "dog hour" where the owners visit and watch their dogs play together in the park adjoining the park. When I walked to the laundry house I had two offers of a ride...and the list goes on. We have stayed numerous times in one of the top 5 military RV parks in the West, according to this year's survey, and I have to say that although that unnamed park is beautifully designed and has free laundry I would pick this one over that any day! It rained when we were here and yes, there is a lot of mud but who cares, we get to RV full-time and have one of the ultimate benefits, being retired military.

Very nice military campground located conveniently off I-8. Staff is very friendly and even give you a folder of information when you check in. Level concrete sites that were just long enugh for our 42’ 5th wheel and truck. Nice space between sites and. No cable or wi-fi but our Direct TV and phone hot spot worked fine. Picnic table at each site and a nice dog park ( that has grass !). Walking trail around park and base is great place to ride your bike. This is a small base but has a commissary, exchange, bowling alley, pool, water slide, theater and playground. Park was very clean. Blue Angels practice here during the winter so was fun watching them from your RV site. We would definitely stay here again.

This is a Navy Air Facility. It is in the middle of no where. Flat and dusty. It is a nice laid back base. Has mostly everything you would want on base. Staff is friendly and helpful. It is a snow bird base, which many are in this part of the US. Everyone was friendly. Close to Mexico . If you want to save some money, this is the place, but have been told very hot in the summer. Nice stop over, but we did stay several days. Would stop again.
