This FamCamp was a disappointment compared to other FamCamps. It is poorly managed and the layout of the utility stations is awkward. The FamCamp manager wears too many hats. He is the only one in the office, checks in campers, and parks campers. He rarely answers the phone, using the answering machine message to prompt callers to leave information for reservations, including your phone number. If your message is garbled and he is unable or unwilling to call you back, you may arrive without a reservation and not know it. It is a little unnerving to make a reservation with an answering machine without confirmation. The phone connection for Internet usage is very noisy and three of us could not connect using various Internet Service Providers, various computers, and many different phone numbers When the manager was informed of this, he refused to consider that the phone line was the problem and suggested that we were using the wrong phone numbers or the wrong dialing techniques. During lulls in the phone connection, you could hear the crackle of noise on the phone line. Because of the layout of the utility stations, some campers are parked at awkward angles and encroach upon their neighbor?s site. The utility station is shared so, if two units require 50 amps, who gets the 50 amps and who has to settle for 30 amps? Some sites require 50 to 75 feet of hose to reach the water faucet which may be shared among four sites with an arrangement of Y connectors. On the positive side, the manager seems to go out of his way to provide a site to all comers, even if it means dry camping.
