As previous reviewers have stated; this Famcamp has a unrealized potential but was a good value for the price, even if it's a 16-mile round trip from the interstate. Based on other comments, I emailed for a reservation, received a prompt reply, and forwarded the requested credit card information. On arrival, I waited for the office to reopen (closed from 1000 to 1300), and found that there was no reservation and that the host didn't remember making one (I furnished him a copy of the email). Fortunately, there were sites available and we were able to get one of the pull-thrus Nice concrete, level pads with shared water (make sure you have a "Y" fitting), but faced the track which had very bright stadium-type lights and were left on until almost midnight on two occasions. No WiFi or cable but local TV was strong. Didn't appreciate the base weed-eater guys out at 0730, but guess they had to work while it was cool. Close to great off-base shopping and restaurants out the nearby South Gate. BX was average, commissary was nice but more expensive than most. Arriving at the "truck" gate per instructions, I first waited in line with commercial vehicles (right lane) then watched another MH pass me on the left and go through the gate. Watch out for the barriers - they're pretty close as you zig-zag through them. All the other gates looked sporty to me for exits; as we were heading north I returned to the truck gate which has no barriers and wide egress, and passes a easy entry/egress gas station.
