Great location on post and great price. Very friendly and helpful staff at office. Easy to get into downtown San Antonio. Lots of construction on base but still easy to get around. Great commissary and PX. New bridge is a real plus since the old road was flooded during our stay (you can see it while driving over bridge). Sites were big with lots of space between with a nice concrete patio and big picnic table. Large fenced in dog run was great so the dogs could chase their balls. Downside: - constant train traffic - I mean constant. I regularly counted 4 trains in one hour. If you don't sleep soundly, then this will be a problem as the train blows by with horn blaring at 1:00 AM. Surprised no one mentioned this. - the showers were dreadful - lots of mold on the shower curtain, no place to put your soap and shampoo but the floor and no private dressing area. A definite locker room set-up so if you're modest and don't want to stroll around in your altogether in front of others this will be a problem for you.
- no cable TV - and no regular antenna reception. We were able to get 1 network station over the air on a regular basis but the others did not come in. Lots of Spanish channels came in just fine as well as PBS. - no wifi from park - but my Verizon card worked great with lots of signal - the office had a very nice lounge set up with lots of books, magazines and puzzles - but it closed at 4:00 PM. It would have been nice to have this available in the evening as a place to relax. Despite my complaints, this is still a wonderful destination and I would definitely stay here again.
