We have stayed at Ft. Sam many times and have always had a very good experience. The post is undergoing a $2 billion upgrade, consequently traffic has been rerouted periodically. Call the office for updated directions. They are now recommending entering thru the cemetary gate. We came in thru the Benz-Englemann gate on a Sunday and had no problem. That gate entry point is displaced further in the post, we got great directions at that point and had no problem getting to Famcamp. We have a 43 Ft. MH with toad. Either way a great experience.
