More of a long term trailer park than vacation campground. Several permanent residents were very territorial an made us feel as though we were encroaching on their property. Nice facility and fellow travelers were friendly.

Yep. Homesteaders have the best slots at Wright Patterson and do not move. MWR rules state they rotate. They don't.

Bunch of them have their clique. Members only.

Stopped in there for a few days last month.

Homesteaders there now run around playing camp ground host (unofficially that is).

Homesteaders, homesteaders, what are we to do?
They own the Fam Camp. The play wanna be host. Running around telling people what to do and not do.

Too bad majority of the people on here, and at FamCamps, can not see the problem. Go back and read some of the post re homesteaders at various bases. Larry stated it very well in one of his posts.

If MWR and the command will not move them on, there is really nothing we can do.

So correct about "territorial" at Wright Patterson.

Don't even suggest the camp ground be closed during the winter months. OMG the homesteaders will bark and growl big time over that!

Wright Patterson MWR keeps the camp ground open for a handful of homesteaders. I believe apex 5 campers stay there all winter.

Not cost efficient to run the place all winter for a handful of homesteaders.

The up coming change on how BAQ money is paid (actual cost of lodging vs a flat amount for area) will drive a few of them out.

Any other camp ground will make homesteaders rotate. i.e. in 90 out 30; in only xx days per 12 month period like JAX NAS does.

They need to do what McChord did...tell all of them to move out.

Some of the homesteaders at WP are very territorial. They seem to think they own the place. Little clique going on there.
