As far as location to things to do, there isn't a ton in Goldsboro to begin with. But, the base is nearby a mall, Target, lots of restaurants, and some brew pubs. The staff I've spoken with on the phone so far (Elvira) has been very helpful and informative. They have also called to check in and make sure everything was working as expected. When we arrived, the grass was a bit high, but the landscaping crew has since come through and mowed and edged and it looks much better. It could use a walk through by a trash crew though. Some sites have leftover small trash from other campers (come on, leave no trace) and the area by the garbage bins needs some cleanup. Our short term site (#7) is a pull through and faces the woods and it's quiet and isolated from the main area where the long term rigs are. It's been very enjoyable sitting out at night, facing the woods, and just enjoying nature. We have just retired and this is our first on base camping experience and we love it here so far.
